>>"This is the way the owner told us to do it to solve the performance issue it was causing." They must have read a different dictionary definition of `solve` that most people. When our company performs analysis for customers, they expect…
Not sure if `Carolina Friends` advertises here and you've inadvertently clicked their banner , but the sls membership shouldn't take you off this site.
In before the SLS solution: you wear sun glasses while browsing!
Messages are blank again, just "recipient name" and waiting on api swinglifestyle dot com
>>Have you considered hiring from within the SLS membership? I'm sure there are plenty of folks with the necessary skills Of course there is. A lot of sites advertise the jobs they want to hire people for, on their site for people to see!…
>>If you all remember when they were offline for days.. ... and deleted forum posts when you asked in the forum if the servers were compromised? I remember.
It isn't hard to understand that the underlying database infrastructure can't stand up to a simple >SELECT COUNT(*) FROM messages WHERE status=unread; Like every other single counter coded on the planet.
>> The more important question is, that of that larger membership, how many recommend this site. Never recommend it anymore, and often if we mention sls during a conversation people either groan or make fun of how outdated the site is.
Yes, I had the same `nginx` 404 messages. It isn't the first time either.
It's most likely latency from the database. Sites are often slow to load because the server is waiting too long to retrieve required information from a database. It would also explain why you would randomly turn off areas of the web site f…
>The animated SLS/Swing logo with one of the gumby's jumping from SLS to Swing makes it kind of obvious that there's a transition ongoing. Very astute, and the change from `lifetime member` to `unlimited member` which obviously suggests so…
> I certainly don't consider the new mail counter to be a big issue I normally would have sympathy for the beleaguered sole SLS support, but dang, that's some serious tone deaf response right there. This sites is held together with bandaid…
People said this would happen when they got rid of mail, and here we are. Can anyone name a single feature they've introduced in the last 3 years that adds value or works? The Wall? Messages? What about the `friends` section that has for a…
California's CCPA is the only law that currently applies to breaches of privacy, and forced disclosure I believe. While there are disclosure laws they are mostly for financial and health institutions. Take note Californian residents.
In light of the fact that malware often allows malicious remote access to the servers and site source code, and the fact that people's privacy are at stake here, the staff should immediately put together some sort of impact statement for m…
Wayne, could you please ask them to remove the message: "Over the next couple of days, we will be updating the Who Viewed Me feature. New views will show, older views prior to July 21 are being slowly restored. " Having a message that refe…

Imagine being this angry about transsexuals. I bet the DSM manuals would tell you where all this displaced aggression and phobia comes from.
Don't cry, snowflake: "Classification of gay, lesbian, and bisexual sexual orientations underwent major changes in different editions of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) published by the American Psychiatric Asso…
I'm sorry you can't comprehend and dissect from a few lined posts that homosexuality was "included in DSM-II" and wasn't removed as an illness "until it's total removal in the 1980s." "Total" means it wasn't entirely removed from the DSM.…
>I wasn’t born until 74 so this has no bearing on my life. Unlike a transsexual posting on a support forum asking for a label change? >Why would you lie and push it back 10 years? Because it was still listed as a sub-set as an illness unti…
> Transgenderism has been diagnosed as a mental disorder by experts (doctors & scientists). As was homosexuality of any kind, listed under the DSM-II until it's total removal in the 1980s.
I imagine the same sort of person who uses a post about a feature request on a support forum as an opportunity to try and shame someone else believes that sort of response is some sort of witty repertoire? Congrats Oscar Wilde.
lol It's probably so edgelords such as yourself don't get all worked up with the binary choice they are made to use when signing up to SLS.
How are we mad that someone asked for a better way to differentiate themselves, so that other people don't feel like they're misrepresenting themselves on the site? Just about every site has the same feature requested. Some people find a w…
There are literally hundreds of exploitable conditions in flash that allowed code execution, and allowed malware installation on people's computers. Flash wasn't removed by Apple on a whim, it was removed because it is a massive security r…
CVE Adobe » Flash Player : Security Vulnerabilities Total number of vulnerabilities : 1078 Only over a thousand exploitable conditions in Adobe Flash lifespan. I have no idea why someone wouldn't want to keep supporting it?
I could see someone granting access to their own pictures, and then later thought that everyone could see their most intimate pictures just by clicking on their profile and then complained to support.
So the primary method of exchanging information is offline, and your profile will be disabled if you try and add any off-site contact method. It's like a race to the bottom around here.
"Over the next couple of days, we will be updating the Who Viewed Me feature. New views will show, older views prior to July 21 are being slowly restored." How slow is slowly, exactly? It seems we've had this particular message for weeks n…
If I were to guess, I'd say client capability. Some people browse on unsupported operating systems e.g IpadOS or without a video camera. :-)
You see that the forum itself is wrote in cold fusion markup language right? Name one modern site you've seen in the last decade wrote in that language lol? same with the chat based on long EOL'd Adobe Flash. They're not going to be using…
301 is a message sent by the server, to redirect your browser. Often done to redirect from from the http (plaintext) to the https (encrypted) version. It's whole purpose is to give your browser a new destination. It is nothing to do with i…
It's due to compliance with Apple, and Google's app rules. You cannot display nudity in those apps and they'll remove your app from the marketplace for breaking the rules. Some people don't want to put their face pictures in public, and so…
If that were true, mail would be restored because the messenger is universally hated.

I think out of all our profiles on different sites SLS has the most rules, and definitely the most "Nanny knows best!" oversight on both text and photos. Several other sites have Apps, and strangely do not run afoul of Apple/Google policy…
Are you sure they're active? I believe they suppress inactive profiles, that haven't logged in, in a while. I know one of our friends who is a lifetime member cant be found on search and they haven't been on in a year.
What are the chances that "Your Wall" posts become moderated in the near future? I mean you can't even update your profile text without it being re-approved again just in case you mention kik or whatever -- so how will the wall posts magic…
"Add as a friend" A genius placement, I might also add. The great new features just won't stop coming!
We added that we like to see couple photos in our profile text too. Not only is it awkward to show interest until you see the other persons pic, where we could normally just reply `we don't think we're a match` without saying why -- that j…
Sorry, only "Dark Age" mode is available.
YFW it's 2019 and a messenger inserts a linewrap when you press 'Enter.' instead of sending your message. :|
Interesting, that has not been our experience the last time our account expired and we waited to renew. I had barely anyone contact us, and when I rechecked the profile, we did not have a profile picture and I had to reset it. YMMV I guess.
Just don't forget to reset your profile pic, otherwise it stays the default 'no profile' pic free members have.
The SLS "Help" section page still references Internet Explorer 7.0, which was first released January 31, 2006 -- A cool 8 years before MSN TV shut down. :|
>>"The old mail system is something the older crowd likes, obviously. However, the new IM system allows for video chats which allow for verification of expectations." This is a false dichotomy. You can in fact upgrade the existing instant…
Instant message does not appear to be working for us. Removing the email is a terrible decision, and we certainly will be considering not renewing at the end of our current term.
Email - instant message is annoying.
Agreed, if it isn't the pedantic randomly enforced nudity rules in profile pics, unlike other places - now a simple text edit needs moderation? Which would be great, if it was timely - but it isn't. This will ultimately effect our decision…
