Says 407 messages but actually zero????

Elizabethtown, KY, Us

I had 8 them the next day 4 but no messages

Hendersonville, TN, Us

And now we're back to "0" messages. I think that's the fastest an issue has ever been fixed on here (other than lapsed membership payments)

Hendersonville, TN, Us

SLS fixes and our efforts have reduced the number of pending messages to 1, but we can't make it go away. We've clicked on every IM, looked at every email, and even clicked on the profiles of people that sent them.

No luck. Minor annoyance, akin to a grain of sand. Such grains can be painful in the wrong place, and enough of them make sandy beaches. I wish the sandy beaches that program this website a multitude of grains in the wrong places so they can appreciate just how irritating their "improvements" are.

@Bottoms, yes, tell your friends that yes, their messages are gone, but we're eagerly awaiting their invite to their bubble, post covid of course. M

@max are those missing messages from anyone we might know? Asking for a friend ;-).

I submitted a ticket to Support when this first happened, and I have received several responses with updates. It looks like the missing messages have been restored, and my Red Message number has dropped, so progress is being made.

Litchfield, CT, Us

@SLS_Wayne, Our messages have been mostly restored, including many we had deleted ourselves, but the most recent ones with one couple in particular are still missing. We show red circle "29" messages waiting, so can we assume that number corresponds to the number of missing messages yet to be restored? (number started at close to 300, but we have been whittling them down by opening them) M

Just heard back from the app developer. I asked the following question: "Does the mobile app do any geo-locating?"

"It just uses the setting for the profile location. So if they go to a different state, they will have to manually change their location in the “Edit Profile” screen. This was intentional as we did not want to invade peoples privacy or imply that they are being tracked."

So SLS developers wrote all the code themselves and did not use any SDK for outsiders. Good to know.

"Over the next couple of days, we will be updating the Who Viewed Me feature. New views will show, older views prior to July 21 are being slowly restored."

How slow is slowly, exactly? It seems we've had this particular message for weeks now -- any chance the "developers" remove the message?

<p>I agree with the data you are providing, but not with the conclusions you are drawing from it. I am not aware of any geo-locating that the site does, especially not the browser version of the site. It could be some other technical issue or something the other profiles had done with their settings. </p>

Just posting a fact here - Only 5 other forums have more posts than the website forum - Politics, Open Forum, Threesomes, Games, and Fitness (and Fitness is only 29 posts ahead). Does that say something with regards to functionality of the site overall? I think it sends a very strong message that there's been constant issues.

Same here as I am sure it is for all users and very frustrating of course. I always keep my unread count down to zero meaning I read and reply to every single one. To my surprise, mine said 1842 unread. Obviously a new glitch. Diligent OCD like behavior to clear the “unread” count but could only get it down to 306 which means the unread count is on messages for which there has been no interaction within the past year which are also no longer visible to me.

Wayne/Customer Service, If they need coding or database help, please let me know. I know most people think this stuff is easy.

My gosh! Am I ever popular today! Over 500 messages. Gonna need a lady to help me out, I think. LOL. ( another hurricane on the way as well)

Here's a news flash - Fix the website so there aren't constant problems and watch topics like this just disappear on their own!

"There is no reason for thread after thread and post after post after post to be created that say the exact same thing."

You must be new around here. That sort of thing has been happening since Abraham Lincoln invented the Internet.

Maybe instead of locking the thread someone on the staff can change the topic so that everyone knows the topic deals with a certain thing. By doing so it would hopefully eliminate duplicate threads complaining about the same problem.

I looked at the two previous topics about conversations disappearing and conversations not showing up at all, then saw this one about the numerous messages and posted here. Had I realized the problem had been addressed in a previous post I wouldn't have posted in the first place, as I'm sure is the case with others.

We are not forum commandos and only venture here when there is an issue. As infrequent visitors when we see locked threads in the website area the automatic assumption is people were complaining about or bad mouthing the staff, or unpopular site changes/functionality.

Let's have a contest!!!!
We had 573 messages yesterday morning of which we could eliminate all but 242 due to the limit of the "load more" function. I'm betting someone out there had more than 1000. Anyway, the workaround for us is 242 = 0 new.

@Sparks - No, they just delete the topic. Wayne does not agree that the site, somehow in the background, it geolocating profiles. I posted on this, had a negative comment (as well as IM with Wayne) and that Wayne didn't agree with so he just completely deleted the thread. And he tried to tell us, after 11 years that we've gotten our value for the money for a lifetime membership. What good is a lifetime membership if the website's functionality has gone to squat. We paid for a lifetime membership that had no time limit on it. So as long as the site is up, we expect it to work. If they don't want it to work, fine, shut it down and we'll go to Cat City.

<p>There is no reason for thread after thread and post after post after post to be created that say the exact same thing. As customer service (basically the middle man/messenger here), I have given all the information I know. This issue is affecting my profile as well. I have taken that information and the reports I have received from customers and told the developer and database administrator. They have responded back and told me they are working on getting it fixed.</p>

Sparks, NV, Us

Wayne will just provide the canned answer and lock the thread. When they don’t like what they hear from THEIR PAYING CUSTOMERS, they lock the topic!!

Yes read the locked thread and it says they will fix it when they can. Translation: once they find the how to video on YouTube.

Read the other locked thread and you will understand why.

We scrolled to the bottom and clicked the load more contacts icon which produced a few conversations that were showing as unread. So we deleted all those, clicked on the load more contacts icon again and found more "unread" messages in that screen as well. Long story short we got to all the available "load more contacts" screens and still show 66 unread messages. Hope it gets sorted soon.

having same issue...116 messages but none are unread
