Running Edge here..."Browser not supported"
Flash Player in Chat Rooms
FYI, you can use chat while logged out of SLS... so that's seems interesting!
To be clear, just leave new chat open in a new window then log out...
Firefox 83.0 (64-bit) on attempting to load:
No connection to Server. This may be a certificate error at <server>
Click OK to navigate and accept it. If no certificate warning is shown, then check that your Server is up and running <server>:4443
lol and you can't even post the site url in the error because the forum says it contains banned words. Quality stuff.
No problem Wayne. I am a developer as well and everything always works the way it’s supposed to when you test it....until you release it to the users.

<p>I see what you are talking about in the iPad and will let the developers know.</p>
Pretty basic... Pressing the purple arrow or hitting enter have the desired effect on a PC.
One bug, if you type in text and hit the enter on the iPad, the chat window disappears. If you type and hit the purple arrow icon, it seems to work correctly
Wayne, very pleased to say after years of no chat available on the iPad, the basic text chat functionality appears to be good. Thanks

They have been saying this will be fixed for years. Flash is an antiquated technology that was dropped in favor of html 5. This recommended change was announced in 2017 and flash will quit working all together on Dec 31, 2020 and be removed from all web browsers. So this is not a new issue for sls and something many of us with iPads have been complaining about for years because sls chat has never worked for us. Now, it finally looks like sls will be forced to fix it along with the rest of their site that relies on this technology or things will stop working Jan 1.
It would be great to have an announcement about the chat functionality. You're losing paid customers who are saying the chat rooms that there will be no chat after Flash stops working.
It should be ready for release by or before the end of the year.
When you do release it, hopefully it will not take a couple of days, given that we have seen "Over the next couple of days, we will be updating the Who Viewed Me feature. New views will show, older views prior to July 21 are being slowly restored." for a while...
<p>We have new chat software that does not require Flash. It should be ready for release by or before the end of the year.</p>
Bumping this up
We have yet to hear of a successor to the Flash approach.
The current system will fail at the end of the year. Other tech discussions I have been in (unrelated to this site) is that Adobe flash has a timer built in and will not function as of 1/1/2021, regardless of the website and browser desires - the plugin will fail.
Hopefully we will see that new chat rolled out soon, as this has been an ongoing discussion across the industry all year...
Best of luck Wayne - I do not envy the conversion work you are in for!
Per Wayne (SLS Support) in another thread: "You need the Adobe Flash plug-in enabled in your browser for the chat-room. You will need to use Google Chrome or Firefox. Safari no longer supports Flash."
And in a different thread: "We should have a new chat-room that does not require Flash by the end of the year."
The only way I know to contact SLS is to create a support ticket or hope that Wayne sees your forum post and responds. To create a support ticket go to your profile name in the upper right corner and then select the "Support" option from the drop-down menu.
MacBook Pro 15" Retina (late 2013)
Mac OS Catalina
Safari Version 14.0 (15610.1.29.1.9, 15610)
I updated the OS, and I'm unable to access the SLS chatroom and Adobe Flash Player isn't showing up in the list of Safari Plugins. Whenever I try to update Flash, I'm sent to Adobe's "end of life" page. My "About this Mac" info isn't showing up, either.
I searched the SLS website for a "Contact Us" link to inform them, but all I could find is the FAQ and it doesn't mention Flash Player's "end of life". I'm reading up on HTML5 as a possible remedy, but I still cannot access the SLS chatroom. Is anyone else having this problem?
How do I access the chatroom, now?
Hi, I believe the new standard will be HTML5 video.
"The HTML5 specification introduced the video element for the purpose of playing videos,[1] partially replacing the object element. HTML5 video is intended by its creators to become the new standard way to show video on the web, instead of the previous de facto standard of using the proprietary Adobe Flash plugin, though early adoption was hampered by lack of agreement as to which video coding formats and audio coding formats should be supported in web browsers. As of 2020, HTML5 video is the only widely supported video playback technology in modern browsers, with the Flash plugin being phased out."- Wikipedia

Does anyone know how cams will work after December?
