[LOCKED]Emails or IM

Maybe it's just me. But it seems like the whole site has slowed down since this change. Other forums threads that were really active, seem to have all but stopped.

Bring back Email...this is aweful

I do NOT use my phone to access this site. I travel and would use the "Hot Date" Calendar to find parties and events. Since Monday 7-15-19 I can no longer change my location on my profile or in the Hot Date section to find events when I travel! When I try to change my location I get this message " Please re-enter city using autocomplete" Thing is "Autocomplete" use to automatically drop down to click on and now it does NOT so I can NOT change my location to find events same message when trying to change my location on my profile! Wonder what we are going to loose next on this site. SMFH....... WAIT I know what they will take away next "Forums"! I can NOT submit a support ticket because it wont scroll down far enough for me to see and hit Send, I have tried many times, not sure if support ONLY works when using the phone apt, which I will never do!

You cannot initiate NEW email but if you have Archived Email you can still reply to those. Of course those are likely people that a quick message would work OK for.

If you paid with the promise of email availability and you are not getting it, you could ask for a refund.
If you paid by credit card you can get a "Charge Back"

Individual members cannot initiate emails at all, only group admins or advertisers can send emails.

Our only method of communication has been restricted to the IM system which is glitchy and cumbersome.

If you sent an IM and got an angry reply, forgive the recipient because SLS gave no warning to its members that it was about to delete one of the most useful tools on the site (email). If you do reply to his IM tirade, you may want to suggest he visit the forums to see why you had no choice but to IM.

Oh and even though Free members may have green lights indicating that their IM and Video Chat is on, they cannot read or reply to your contact.

Are you starting to see the common thread here? SLS has actively made it more difficult for members to connect on a site that advertises itself as the number one resource for swingers to connect.

Good luck going forward and don't worry about being baffled by what's happened, those of us who have been here for years are equally confounded.

We don't know how but some people ARE sending our emails with ads

I would love to know how to email, as I am new to this site and just had some ass hat ramble on about how they don’t want to be IM’d only emailed, so first day and I’m already regretting the switch to this site.

For those who haven’t read other threads, the admins have stated that they rarely read the forums and if you want to “vote” go to “Support” and initiate a ticket with your concerns.

As an aside, welcome to the fora newberncouple12 and may we just say, DAMN! ;^D

sls knows we have nowhere else to go basically. most people will definitely be back in a short time.

Mayhem, Yep I agree.. and guess what, you really know if someone is ignoring you if they don't respond to your IM ( well unless they are inundated with one liners from singles) . Of course we knew they got the email and ignored it when you seen "unread or Unreplied" .... the old mail system was flaky at best. We remember a couple who sent a message asking to meet and it took a day for SLS to deliver it the old way. (which ended up being a day to late)

One smart move WAS the lifetime membership. The reason SLS is on top is because they have the largest network, and that translates into meeting more people. That's what this site is for. It's the lifetime membership that helped build that network and most won't leave and cut their nose off to spite their face, so their network will remain mostly intact in spite of the latest changes.

I'm just not convinced that the changes will bring in more paying members than we'll lose. I also don't know if downloading the app costs SLS money. Of course even if it does attract new young people, I know it's selfish, but it isn't likely to do us any good and if it doesn't help keep this boat afloat it's a lose/lose. Lets hope that's not the case.

While the IM isn't as good as email for initial contact, everyone is on a level playing field and all us lifers have to adapt. Trying to make the best of it.

Swimming against the current here... we like it.

This site is a for-profit business not a clubhouse. They need to attract new, younger members or they won't turn a profit. We paid for our lifetime membership years ago and haven't given them a dime since. They need money coming in to keep the lights turned on.

This place has never been perfect and always been wonky. It probably always will be.

However, we have met far more people (yes, in real life) from here than any other lifestyle website we've tried. We reached the point of getting our money's worth on our investment a long time ago.
