IM Messages

Congrats to all those who have been asking for a "Wink" button, I think the new IM is as close as it gets.

Not being able to turn IM off is really bothering us. The top of our profile says we do not use IM, but we still get the annoying IM’s of hi there. They don’t even bother to read the first line on profile but send an IM anyway.
Please reinstate the ability to turn IM off!

I just looked at one of my old IM's that I have not deleted, as there is some history there, and it is a mess!! The dates are all jumbled everything is out of order. Why did they bother loading everything in the new program if they weren't going to load it in chronological order???
So frustrated - that is one of the few that I has some fond memories and I would have liked to keep it!!

We don't know that they are thinking of that. It was just suggested that maybe that might happen in light of recent loss of outside email notifications and the new & improved, always on, mailbox-like IM system.

I agree - the email seems to work well (except for the numerous folders that mail gets split into) and I absolutely LOVE the ability to look back through my history with someone. Fingers crossed that no changes are being contemplated.

How could SLS remove the Mail feature? How will groups and clubs send announcements to mass groups of members?

Also, the Mail icon on a profile lets you know that you have communicated with that member just by looking at the profile, and to access those messages with a click. It's one of those features here that works.

I am in with the people who are annoyed we can no longer turn off IMs. We are getting bombarded with unsolicited messages from people who don't bother to take even a few seconds to read our profile. I don't like that this was rolled out without a beta test or input from paid members.

Help. iPad doesn't work? I can see IM but can't open or send?

My IM is working fine, IPhone 12.1.2, although there is a 12.1.3 available.

My IM log goes back to 3-16-2018. Anything beyond that is toast I’m guessing.

It does take about 5 seconds to load, spinning wheel.

IM Messages won't open on Iphone or Windows via Firefox/Chome/IE. It just spins.

New IM does not work on Android...spinning wheel

I tried it on Android and my PC this morning and it is just a spinning wheel on both.

How do you click on the profile in the new IM? It’s a real pain to back out, then do a search under profile name. Obviously it’s a bit easier if they come up in who viewed me, but it’s not always the case. And even so, you still need to back out to get to that point.

The button WILL BE green or grey according to online status, not an ability to turn the button green or grey. Hope that helps.

We still would like to disable it and stop being spammed. If we never see another "HI how are ya?" from a stranger it will be too soon.

I know we have gotten our money’s worth and honestly the site has worked very well for us over the years. We just find this new IM thing to be annoying and something that should be easily fixed back to the way members like it.

So, Wayne can we have it the way it was or at least some mechanism to turn off a feature that many of us do not want?

The new IM is a mess at many levels and there is great dissatisfaction with all levels and aspects of this modification. There are NO positive messages defending this IM deal - other than yours Wayne. The membership is NOT HAPPY!

Please constructively respond and provide solutions to resolve the impasse ---- hummmm where have we all seen this play out?????

NO more debate and parsing the communications as debate via text messages, like these, are useless to convey each nuance and issues.

<p>Nothing has changed regarding telling if someone is online or not. The Who's On list is a list of people that are online (that is why it is called a WHO"S ON list). There is also a green dot in the upper right corner of the default picture that shows you if someone is online. From within the new IM/Mailbox window, there will be a green dot by those that are currently online.</p>
