What's going on? Between having our mail bird flying constantly weather theres mail or not.
Now the tab "WHO'S ON" is totally disrupted with this new IM program "Messages.we've lost all our IMs conversation, Phone numbers, and on top of everything there's no way to see if someone is "ON" because it always says "Message's" on all profiles as well. There's no way now how to tell if someone is really on line.
You know if you have something that works and people like it are comfortable with it....WHY FIX IT? Sort of like back in the 80's when CocaCola decided "we need to beat Pepsi" So the introduced "The New COKE" it bombed.... sales plummeted drastically. CocaCola learned a hard and expensive lesson. It took only a few weeks for CocaCola to bring back the "Original Coke" and Sales skyrocketed Please don't make the same mistakes "WHO'S ON" should be just as it was Who's on now Can anyone comment on this

As a charter member (17 years) I have seen it all. Through all the trials and tribulation at SLS. This IM is just a prime example of the future demise of SLS. Function, features, window appearance, and on and on. The folks at A F F must be dancing on their desks as they monitor SLS as I am sure they do. SLS "used" to be the go to web site maybe 8-10 years ago.
Other sites invested in NEW software. tested it them selves or had members officially test it before going full blown. (pardon the pun). SLS is using antiquated software and programming or have dumbasses working the system and servers (sorry Wayne ya gotta get better staff and geeks). SLS does not maybe have enough paying members and too many life members ( no more income forever from them) to invest perhaps. AS far as free members..just a waste of resources for the entire website, paying/paid members and clutter up and clog the pipeline. I know the free limits would not even temp me to join at any level. So they get to know that they have a message..so what.....probably generated by an SLS bot to "lure" me to pay money would likely be my thinking. Cant trust these sex sites anyway ..right? I will just move on to another. Plenty of them. SLS needs income but they are starving themselves of it and playing Russian roulette with a semi-auto they way they are going. My2cents

If that truly is the plan - what are the odds we'll receive notice before it happens?
I use email. That increases the chances that the communications I receive are from people within 100 miles who bestir themselves to type more than "hi."
With IM, there's a flood of hi: Hi. Hi. Hi. It's like a flock of seagulls.
You've trained those who use it that IM/Chat is for casual real time communication. For those of us who don't want casual real time communication, the "improvement" is a giant pain in the ass full of demands.

That would be thru email, Wayne. So now we have the redundancy of two email systems? Why?
Think of it this way. Email is like you are sitting in a room and someone sends a note over for you to read and then you can decide how or if you want to reply.
IM is like sitting in that room and there is constantly someone in your ear, “hello, hi, hey there!”
Many have expressed they want the ability to turn it off, is it that difficult to listen to what your customers want and do as they ask?

Wayne thank you for at least asking how the members utilize the website.
That being acknowledged, many members, and with many very good reasons, are not enthused with this latest change to the IM system.
You state that it was made into a mailbox system, but then and as others have noted, isn't that the purpose the actual mail system??
The IM system was the only was to let others know we were actually on line, as long ago sls removed the on line flag.
Now the changes to the IM system have added lots of confusion and decreased the IM usability.
Specifically:
Always on
Attempting to make it a mail box
No notification sounds
screen design issues
no way to clear old stuck messages that show as IM count but nothing is defined in the profile tally as not read. (shades of the email ghost issue)
and all the other IM downgrades as noted by many of the members providing feedback.
Add our voice to not satisfied and while no where near a great experience, the previous IM system was at least functional as an actual IM portal.
This new IM system is great because we are turned on all the time too!

We use the mailbox (birdie) to communicate and never had IM turned on. Bu now as others have said, with IM always on it has lead to confusion. Now too many people think we are interested and continually write simply because of IM.
The mailbox is right there......IM opens in a whole new window......more confusion.

All I want to do is shut off IM!!! Why did you take that basic feature away? It is maddening.
This new IM is awful! Why can’t we turn it off?
Sadly SLS continues to have so many software issues that it would take days to document them. Nothing ever seems to get fixed and when changes are made, like to the NEW IM platform, things get worse than ever before. It's pretty obvious that ownership sees little to no value in spending money to actually improve to the site. Sad, very sad.
I sure hope there are continued improvements to the IM feature because the current iteration is terrible. The screen size is too small on a PC/Mac. There is no audible sound for new IM's anymore. There seems to be no way to turn off IM communication anymore.
And why are we using JS in 2019? Javascript is vulnerable to security exploits! HTML5 or even Ajax are better choices..
So here is my thought, we rarely ever respond to an email until we both have a chance to look at the profile of the person(s) who sent it. Since we often aren't on the site at the same time (a side effect of the outside email notifications no longer working) we would like to TURN OFF the IM. Now we just feel rude when someone sends a message when all one of us is doing is logging on to see if we have any new emails.

I know its just started but am really unhappy with the new IM . took away what has been the best feature on the site. we generally loved to come use the Im to stay in touch with friends and meet new couples. Now its not even half as good. sadly it should have been tested first
Well it seems that the new IM feature has been launched without any concern for usability, another just cram it down out throats move. Perhaps they should test things before changing them, just a thought :(

Add to it that we are getting IM messages at times the we are not even on the site. So, this makes it look like we are ignoring and being rude to people. Also, management seems to refuse to answer the question, that has been ask several times, as to WHY we can not turn off the IM and keeps stating that the IM is always on. We know this and want to know why we can no longer turn it off? -Beast
Every day they manage to make this site worse than it was the day before. Now we cannot escape from receiving IMs from those we don't want to hear from.
