Agree R&K. You can only write a few short lines with the IM message system & no spell check. Hope SLS reconsiders & brings the e-mail back.

Can anyone confirm that you are limited to a certain number of characters or lines before the system sends the message? We tried it, got a reply or rather got 4 messages which was a complete reply. It seems to be 3 lines each broken at the same place which would also indicate a character count. If so THAT is what the biggest problem is. Of course it is not the only problem but sometimes when making plans more than three lines of text is needed for the entire message to not be disjointed. Thankfully (so far) we don't seem to be getting lots of messages but we can see where we are communicating back and forth with someone with a 3 line limitation yet the whole train of thought needs more than 3 lines. If other messages come in it then it could really disjoint the important conversation.

Bring back the email

We need the mail option. What are they thinking.

They are the same and should have the same reaction if a person sends hey, hey, hey over and over... BLOCK... Delivery doesn't matter Your reaction does.

Some of us sit in the back of the classroom for a reason, so, yeah, you do, because it seems like a perfectly reasonable statement to me.

From what I understand the site management has convinced themselves that "the overwhelming majority of users prefer IM over email". Now, whether or not a few users actually told them that or if they are just making it up to justify this idiotic change, I don't know.

But this is it, guys. The ability to easily distinguish between a one-line idiot and a thoughtful, intelligent person has been lost, and all indications are that they have no interest in reviving email. They have somehow convinced themselves that what we all really want is a site for chatting. We gotta like it or lump it.

@ travelers yes it is frustrating. We are headed to playalinda next week and we were trying to set up meeting people at the beach and now we can’t. Hopefully it will get fixed soon.

Shame since SLS seemed to be the best swinger site in the Southern states. We’ll have to explore others now. We’ll check out altplayground and see how they are down here. Any other suggestions? Might as well let them see where we all headed so they’ll know who they’re losing business to.

Just when we thought it couldn't get worse than taking away our ability to turn off IM, you just had to go and show us it indeed could. Now we'll get tons of one liners, and, even better, people writing all in text-speak. Pure awesomeness! Does anyone put even a second's thought into what they're doing?!?

Maybe they shouldn't have gone with the discount Surprise Anal brand IM system.

Well, for the past 10 minutes I have tried to reach out to a couple using the crappy IM function. Multiple attempts, but nothing but a spinning circle showing it is "loading". The usefulness of this site is nearing zero at this point. If we were not already lifetime members we would be gone, and still may do so anyway.

Well, if you are close to the Washington, DC - Baltimore corridor, you might switch to AltPlayground as an alternative source. We used it when we lived in Bowie, Maryland. It's a good site with an easy to use interface. Best of all, it still has an email system

For us, this is pretty much the last straw in a series of blunders by the operators of this site, and it was an atrocious one. We are lifetime members, and we'll keep an account here because it's already paid for and we have lots of certs and history, but this site now goes to the very bottom of our list. We just got done removing all of our personal photos leaving only G-rated ones because at this point, we no longer even trust this site with the security of our photos after the way they have acted. It's sad that they simply didn't listen to their user base. So they'll be left with the remnants. And we;ll be spending more time on other sites. Adios.

Strange cant message anyone or anything but if I open the legacy chat, it works. anyone got fix for using this new messaging SLS has unveiled?

You would also think that someone from SLS would say something, anything in defense of why they made these changes. Oh, yeah.......there is no reasonable explanation for this.......my bad ;)

This is ridiculous. I'm trying to contact someone, and it pulls up messages, and it just sits and spins and never works.

What good is a swinger website where you can't contact other people when you want to?

Have you noticed that this has brought a lot of complaining from not just us "regulars" but a lot of people who rarely if ever post on the fora?
