What’s wrong with a friend request?

Charles Town, WV, Us

“ You would THINK that's the objective here”

There is no wrong way to use the friend list, however, we choose to use it for those we interact with more than to use as a “fuck list”, that is what the “favorites” are for. If we have never met you, we don’t even know if you both are into the lifestyle, let alone CLAIM you as a friend. There are other threads covering this very feature.

From our profile on another site we use that has a “friending” feature:

“ WE DO NOT ACCEPT FRIEND REQUEST TILL WE HAVE MET. WE USE IT ONLY FOR OUR TRUE FRIENDS.”

I'm thinking that so long as you send the message first, should be fine. Some get funny about a friend request with no other contact.

This site is for people with like interests to meet and potentially play. If we were in your area I would welcome contact like that, because I see it as an opportunity to meet someone nice. You would THINK that's the objective here, but it's likely to make you wonder just what people are really here to do sometimes.

I do send friend requests to people in other states and as far as Canada. But I do travel (pre & post Covid) and I only extend a friend request if I would eventually like to meet. Whether I am travelling or someone happens to come to my area.
Florida and Georgia happen to be on my radar for post Covid coital. :-)

Yeah, why all the friend requests when, 1. They don’t know you or vice versus. 2. Never even messaged?

I just deny all of them. Must be a FB thing......

So for "us" we have plenty photos some as recent as a couple months ago in FL at Treasure Island on the beach.. if you cant see what we are about.. oh well thats on you. Our other photos are all taken with our FWB while out, before, during and after.. and only "they" get to see those !

Way too many CL holdover PERVS on SLS!

We do not honor "friend" requests.. take the time and effort to get to know us , play with us. and Its All Good!

Weird to ask send a friend request without a message.
Maybe its just a easy way for some users to have their gallery opened to you.
I think you can have some galleries open to friends list.
May not be the case though.

Point taken. You are correct and this will be remedied.

I find it humorously ironic that a guy that’s been bitching about ageism doesn’t want to meet anyone that isn’t at least 6 years younger than he is.

Never mind. Reread what was posted and it's factual. The site search criteria is really your worst enemy here. Sorry.

Agree, the age comments came across as pretty judgemental. Us personally, age is just a number. If you look good and are good people, you look good and are good people. We've met many couples and singles in the lifestyle that appear 10-20 years younger than they are. It's how you take care of yourself and carry yourself that matter the most to us.

we dont mind a friend request but if we have never chatted before then there is no reason to accept a friend request

cmt - One thing you may want to consider is opening up your own age range preferences. Your posted age is 74, but your max age range is 68. We leave ours at 99. It doesn't mean we expect to find and play with anyone that old as much as it does that we don't rule out people due to age alone.

Thanks to all that responded to my confusion. Even though age discrimination has been confirmed (in my mind anyway), a message shall be my first introduction in the future. I understand that when you see "74" your first thought is probably "decrepit" which could not be further from the truth. One meeting would dispel that thought quickly. A current picture is available upon request. My dilemma is getting the meeting. You are correct about what is available out there being my biggest obstacle. All I can do is put myself out there and hope that someone of vision sees the potential. Body aside (which would be a mistake), the personality and friendship alone would be worth the investment.

We get that once in a while here, but it happens a lot more on SLS's next nearest competitor's site. Just a lazy way of casting a wide net in hopes they'll get a response.

"Surprising the amount of friend requests that come without any other message from people we've never interacted with. "

Yeah we are surprised at that too ... we just had 2 requests we deleted, one from a gumby single guy who was somewhat local (50 miles I think) and one from a couple 1200 miles away

cmtchemist if the first message ever is a "friends request" it deserves a block just like someone who requests we open our galleries right off the bat, or someone who blatantly disregards things stated in our profile (which we realize you cannot see right now). A first contact should be well written in response to a profile and a "friends request" comes later on once you get to know folks.

Now when we were looking for single males you would have been outside our age range. We have to say at 74 you are likely outside most folks age range at least when looking online. Why you may ask? Simply put why go for someone 74 when there is an overwhelming selection that is 47 or even quite a few that are 27 (a bit under what we were looking for also)? Quite literally with the number of single males out there online couples and especially single women can be picky when it comes to contacting folks. Now this does not mean there are not folks out there for you however it is not likely you will find them here or in fact most swinger sites unless there is one geared towards seniors specifically. The good news is at 74 the number of single (widowed) women far outnumber single men of the same age group so there is hope however I doubt many if any are on a site like this.

So long as the friend request isn't the first thing out of the gate and it's from someone that meets the basic criteria (i.e looking for a singles), then blocking may be a bit harsh. Keep in mind though that some use block as a means of filtering out people they simply have no interest in.

While it may come across as rude, people may have limited time for this "hobby" so try to maximize the time they do have. I know it kind of sucks, but it could well be they're doing you a favor because you'll also know to not waste anymore time on them. In some ways this is better than no response at all.

Henderson, NV, Us

Evidently there is SOMETHING wrong with a friend request because instead of ignoring, declining, or sending a quick message that they are not interested, the result is blocking. Now I can understand being blocked if I have been insulting, rude, crude, or too persistent, but a simple thing like asking to be a friend?
Maybe it is the age which is really disturbing because I am in better shape than many 45 or 50 year olds. Even the Hot Dates give me the message: "You do not meet the....requirements...".
So, in a group where age is the determining factor...I have NO chance.

I saw a Red MBTTCGA hat just the other day... Make Bus Travel To Cuba Great Again. Based on his success with the wall, In his next 4 years, he’s gonna build a bridge to Cuba AND make the Cubans pay for it. Then, you’ll see more threads headed in that direction.

Buenas noches,

You really don't actually, but we apparently already accept everyone on FB as it is, so why the f*** not?
