You should consider making a sacrifice to the message monster. An acceptable offering will improve your success rate as the beast is satiated. For awhile, at least.
Virgins are preferred, but difficult to find.

IG - Ughh. I was annoyed when it was maybe 20% of the messages I sent, and 100% of those worked on the second attempt. I feel your pain, and hopefully this gets looked into more. I'd not hold my breath waiting for that though.
One thing I've been seeing more of lately is that the red numbers that show you how many unread forum posts you have does not update right away. This situation has gotten worse, and as I recall, is an issue with slow replication of the database/s. Likely there is a master (Primary) database that gets written to, and a number of read-only databases that get updated from the Primary.
Not sure that it would be related to messaging in any way though and is just a casual observation. I suspect it could be related because your sent/received messages need to be stored somewhere, and that is most likely in a database.
Again today with the eating messages glitch. Replying to messages from others had just about every one require at least 2-3 retries to go through.
So as a group owner we can’t use the word signup? facepalm
"Because the likelihood that such a widespread problem is us and not the system is very, very slim."
Feels like it's a fixable issue that would require them investing some money into the site.

I don't know what you sent because it was never sent. Only you know what you typed. As I mentioned, the words "signup" and "registration" will cause a message not to be sent.

Did you use one of those words?

I've lost track of the number of "thanks, but we wouldn't be a good match" messages that disappear. Far fewer than have gone through. While I suppose message content might be the problem, SLS's inability to duplicate a problem most of us experience regularly (and not because we're trying to contact free members) doesn't mean anyone has to look for that one weird thing they're doing. Because the likelihood that such a widespread problem is us and not the system is very, very slim.
It's not a blocked member as we were reply to their question posed to us and I can't really see how the content was the offense. Is it because the asked about our groups hosting and we replied details to our upcoming outings? Without having an idea of what the offending text might be it's hard to figure out why it's happening
Wayne - "A normal person would never use most of the blocked phrases. "
Well that counts me out ;-)
Registration and signup, for ha-ha's to see if the forums blocks them.

I believe there are multiple issues. If the same message never sends to anyone, it is probably due to a blocked phrase or trying to send to a profile that is a member of group that you have blocked or hidden from (such as free members). If you copy and paste and send again and it works, then it was most likely a busy server or a database issue.

A normal person would never use most of the blocked phrases. There are a couple that you might try to use: The words: "signup" and "registration" and typing multiple hyphens in a row.

It's not a blacklisted word problem. I have cut/pasted the same exact text in and it took it the second time.
E&B, it probably is something like a blacklisted word or phrase, but we have no idea what they are so there’s no rhyme or reason to when messages will work. I could see if we got a notification saying the message was not sent due to x,y, or z. So we generally just give up the ghost and draft a snippet of what the response was to try and get something to go through.
@ItalianGinger
Wow 8 times??!! It cant be duplicated, you must be doing something wrong haaaaaaaa!!!!
I mean, there has to be a reason. I know Wayne has said certain parameters can cause the issue, but in most cases fails to state what the exact parameters are. There really shouldn’t be restrictions on private IMs anyhow. If someone spams or breaks rules the recipient can’t block and/or report the sender. We issued a basic reply to question and 8 times it disappeared. We finally got a brief message through and will look to exchange alternate means of contact seeing as how this is a couple we personally know and have met at multiple parties, but it shouldn’t be this complicated.
I lost one earlier. It is ridiculous this problem can't be fixed.

Messaging issues yet again & not sending at all tonight! Tried to reply to a couple and after 8 attempts with the message disappearing into SLS oblivion, I gave up! I don’t know how this can’t be duplicated. We know we’re not the only people experiencing this. And I tried both on the app & the browser version.
@Playcate ... Welcome to the wonderful world of SLS. Not sure what you mean by "doesn't work", but the biggest issue is the one that ItalianGinger mentioned about messages disappearing into the abyss when sending ... ALWAYS copy before sending. But SLS says they can never reproduce it, but yet we have multiple members on here saying it happens to them.
The other issue we get sometimes is when clicking on the message icon on somebody's profile, it doesn't take us to a blank new messgae, it takes us to our message list. Had that happen a few times in the last week or so ... hadn't happened to us in several months.
Fortunately I've not seen it that bad, but I don't doubt you are seeing these issues. For me, it does seem like there are times where it is worse than others.
@playcate, it’s just one of those things you have to accept using SLS. Many have reported the issue & support tickets submitted, but the powers at SLS claim to have never seen the issue therefore there’s nothing wrong or to fix. Basically, my best advice is to always copy your message to clipboard before hitting send. Then you can at least paste it without retyping the whole thing when it vanishes into SLS limbo. Sometimes it can take 6 or more “sends” before it posts.
Does anyone know what's going with messages...doesn't work on the desktop and maybe about 1/3 of the time on the app. Trying to answer some one back is nearly impossible.
OHW, Wayne said they hired a new dev team in a bother thread, but we haven’t seen any marked improvements in the site or functionality. The layout is actually decent. It’s the least clunky lifestyle site we’re on, but it needs a complete code overhaul it seems. We’d love to see things running as intended.
Again this morning messaging isn't working worth a shit. I keep getting error messages when trying to open profiles or Certs . How about getting someone that knows what the hell they are doing to run your site and fix these reoccurring problems. Funny how there is never a problem with notifying me about when a payments due for membership or the processing of that payment. This shit is getting old!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@4_real_couple, thank you! D's looking good too;) Choice soon? Ironically, the forums always work! M
Claire, nice butt :)
