Messaging not working

Yes it's SOOOO irritating crafting a well worded message only to have it disappear. I try to remember to Select All and Copy important messages but it's still very frustrating to have to rewrite any message.

Yesterday was an exceptionally great day for the "disappearing message trick" ... multiple messages took 6 or 7 tries until it finally sent ... so glad I copy before sending!!

Cobalt, most people that have been here long enough completely understand why one wants to move to a functional platform. Yes, some are nefarious, however we’ve been around long enough to weed them out quickly.

Notifications rarely if ever work here. Yet another reason we move to a functional platform.

I know it’s heavily discouraged here, but if they had a user friendly and functional IM chat system we’d gladly use it and stay on site.

Double: No I haven't. Maybe its quantity issue? I picture a couple profile get a bit more traffic compared to SM one.

I. Ginger. Think I will do that going forward. Try to stay on SLS as few people get annoyed if you sugesting moving off the platform in less than 5 posts.

Does anyone else have issues with receiving notifications that another member has IM'd, I have all my notifications on, but never (or rarely) receive the notification.
Also the time zone shows to be off, when I send a message it posts in the thread 4 or so hours before or after the actual time?

<p>If you can see the message in your message history with the other member, then they received the message. If you have a specific issue between you and another member, you can report it to me privately and I will check it.</p>

Cobalt, it’s likely the SLS IM system. We move off the platform as soon as possible to prevent issues. We’ve lost entire conversations before and we’ve replied to messages to seemingly get ghosted and follow up only the have the contact say they thought we ghosted them lol

Is messaging not working again? I've messaged a few people now where two way conversations seem to be happening and then just ghosted entirely. Some right after introducing themselves.

Now either these are all assholes or just getting flooded by other SM. But with how wonky SLS has been in the past, its impossible to tell if the system is truly working even when it appears to be from one end.

<p>There are cases where SLS will not send your message. If the other profile has been flagged, a block is in place, or the other profile has submitted their profile for deletion, then your message will not send. It will just disappear when you click "Send".</p>

<p>We also have spammer/scammer blocker features running. There are quite a few phases that these people tend to use that we are now blocking. If you happen to try to send one of those pharses, your message will just disappear. However, that would probably be unlikely. A normal, valid member would probably not be trying to send the phrases we have blocked.</p>

Th app is completely worthless. It rarely functions and the user experience is so disconnected from the browser version we rarely bother with it. It should be disbanded. Put those resources on making a mobile friendly site.

just tried messaging from the app on my phone... hit send and the app force closes, message not sent

on my main page, there are newest matches, i click on one of the profiles, it appears, then I click message, the messaging system comes up and the members name is at the top, I type my message and hit the little send arrow, and nothing, try it again, and nothing

i then check the main message page to see if there is a sent message, nothing

i have closed out SLS and restarted, tried to send again, nothing

ive sent the same message to the profile 5 times now and nothing... im sure they will probably all appear in a day or two making me look absolutely stalkerish crazy.....

its still not working..... for faqs sakes just bring back the old mail with the birdie... this experiment with instant messaging is crap.....

@ItalianGinger, agreed. Some of the features here don't make sense and could go away tomorrow and we would not care. The wall and friends page are pretty much useless and those resources could be freed up and used to improve the features we need and use like messaging. M

The IM has never, EVER actually functioned like even the most basic chat app. We’d be happy if it have real time notifications… ok talk order, let’s start with just ANY notification or at minimum random refresh to see we have a message waiting. Many (us included) feel the removal of the old mail system was a huge step backward.

The philosophy here at SLS seems to be you’ll take what we give you and like it.

Truthfully we fee they’re trying to make the site do too much. Things like friends list, wall, chat rooms, etc. A lot of stuff we don’t need. Most of us just want a functional calendar for dates and events. Basic email/IM to communicate. The network is here and the interface is actually pleasant when it works. We’d rather have stability than this years long debacle of “new” features that never come to fruition.

Seriously, AGAIN??? If you are paying someone to "fix" your website, you need to get your money back!

I used to love Ren & Stimpy. One year around Christmas time, I was watching it and they did a spoof commercial on a fake toy called Log from Blammo. One of my daughters was really young then and, like a typical kid, wanted everything she saw on commercials for Christmas. She actually said she wanted Log for Christmas. Too funny.

No, I didn't get out my chainsaw, but probably should have ;-)
