You make a good point.

Someone had a thought (or a group of people had a conversation) that led to the addition of the new "Friends" feature. How was it envisioned that it would be used? What are these new capabilities that we are teased with on the Friends section? When this new feature was first brought up among the developers, how was it pitched? Someone must have said "Let's have a "Friends" feature so that our members can...............". How was that sentence finished?

Look I know you have some animosity with some of the patrons on here...but candidly we are relatively new and asked the same question so why so snarky?
We don't know what it does or dosen't do till you tell us. The sad part is we have to ask. Rolling out a feature without an explanation is not advisable. Maybe a "STICKY" post that addresses these features as they are rolled out would help.
Tell us what it does, how it changes the interaction, and what is affected by its implementation.
If you are not sure maybe your app developer ad tech team could help you with that.

And again please consider Beta testing these things rather than dumping them on the masses with no explanation.
I don't think your doing these things on purpose but when you keep doing them over and over it starts to look that way.

if this is rolled out properly I will be the first to say great job!!! the former friends lists (now favorites) was in all reality just a stalking list... the people on the list have no idea that you "friended" them...

this is much more open, you know who's asking to friend you, you can accept, deny, and if warranted, block....

Was their any effort of time or money in trying to fix those things that are still unreliable with the chat program? Also the scroll feature, when we use it to peruse profiles every single profile shows up as logged on, then the chat does not send an audible message when we have someone trying to contact us and of course dropped messages are still the norm. Though admittedly some of this stuff is better than it had been

Since we are already "friends" and you already have access to most of our photos anyway, I tried to send you a friend request so you could see if you now had all of them or what else may have changed. When I hit the add friend button however, I just get a pop-up error message that something went wrong. WTF?

So....now that someone accepted our Friends offer....Their profile isnt in either our Friends OR Favorites catagories......?????

Wayne ....help..you never answered what the implications of that friend tab are to access, privacy, ECT.

Please: Will they be able to see our other friends?
Will they have access to photos or can we parcel out as we choose say this album but not this one?

If the "new features are so great then tell us ... Your not inspiring confidence in the way your doing this stuff if fact quite the opposite. Help us defend your actions and start explaining this stuff please.

Keeping the friends list as our favorites is great. Let's just hope it stays.
We utilize that list in our travels.

The new friend request feature should be a tremendous boon to our Craigslist imported SMs.

No longer will they be forced into the onerous task of typing all those keystrokes to send "how r u".

Now they can reach out with just a single click! Brilliant!!!!

Seriously? So everyone on our friends list is wiped out. Honestly we used it a shopping list. Was great as when one of us found a profile we liked we would add to list and could talk about it later.

There is not even a friends tab in the app

Per Wayne's suggestion to previous issues like this, everyone should send a support ticket to draw attention to and hopefully get a full explanation of this new "feature".

It looks like you can only send friend requests from the PC based site, not the app. So much for trying to migrate people to the app.

We would also like an explanation of what privileges are granted or gained from the new friends function.

So....We sent a Friends request to a couple...and they Approved it. Now, does that approved request supposed to go into our Favorites catagory? It hasn't.

Wonderful - I've previously granted permission to view a private gallery to Friends.

I guess all my current Favorites/former Friends can no longer view that gallery until I individually allow them permission.

Wayne C can you please explain in detail the whole Friends button, I understand we click it and they accept or not but then what does that tie into. Does that allow them to see our other friends? does it allow them access to certain pictures still? If it does will we be able to group them so they can't see each other ect?
Will it have any other implied benefit to friend someone now like with chatting, seeing if mail is read, notify us when they log on? Is there a reason that these changes are made without notifying members first so we don't have to come here to look for answers? And lastly why does the App not allow members to see galleries only open or blocked photos...the groupings we have put them in...so if i have gallery C open but gallery B closed they have to scroll thru blocked content to find open content if they are on the app...?

We too lost many old conversations with couples in Mail when that feature was removed.

Wayne, this is not true. Almost all of our mail history is gone. We only have 4 people on our friends list (we never really used that feature) but only one has any mail history preserved.

<p>The old friends are under Favorites now. I know of no plans to remove them. We also did not remove old messages. They are still there when you pull up and view a profile and select the mail history icon.</p>

So now do we need to assume SLS is going to "disappear " everyone in our friends list ?
Just like you did any email history.
