Wayne, you say that if we do not want the friends feature we simply don’t need to use it. That’s a FANTASTIC idea........perhaps apply that thought process to the automatic posting of hot dates to our profiles? Allow us to choose more of what we want to utilize or ignore........what do the techies call that? Oh yeah, user friendly (sorry for the snarkiness y’all)
Friends Tabs
@irishrose22
the answer was....4 or 5 posts below... they have not been told what the new features would be or what its future use is
Maybe I missed it, but was it stated how this will be "heavily utilized in soon to come new features" so we are ready for the " next feature release"?
To be clear this is my own personal take and its based on how this site has rolled out the feature and app changes so far.
DON'T FRIEND ANYONE!!! Not until they tell us what it will "do" once its fully implemented. Its a huge social accident waiting to happen
and candidly I ...like all of you I am sure...have spent way to much time filter thru profiles and building relationships to have this site guinea pig yet another feature on my account ...Sorry SLS not this time. We will wait to you have debugged it to get anywhere near it.
@sls_WayneC
If you had just said:
"I have not been given any information regarding what it will do in the future."
Instead of:
"The new SLS Friends ability will be heavily utilized in some soon to come new features.
So get started now accepting and sending your friend request so you are ready for our next feature release."
You would have had a lot less pissed off folks...just saying...one says I don't know I'm just a pee-on...the other says I know but I am not telling you ..............THIS place is like a Seinfeld episode
goodgollymsmoll: thanks for testing out.
Now what could go wrong?
<p><span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:tahoma,verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:14px">"What does using the Friends feature do for us right now?"</span></p>
<p><span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:tahoma,verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:14px">It adds the other profile to your new Friends list as pending and notifies the other person. If they accept, then both of your new Friends lists will list each other. That is ALL that it currently does. It does nothing else.</span></p>
<p><span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:tahoma,verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:14px">I have not been given any information regarding what it will do in the future.</span></p>
What does using the Friends feature do for us right now?
(I'm not asking about future applications)
Wayne's ignoring all of our questions about what the new feature will actually be but more importantly what "Friending" someone actually does? It's annoying because if it does nothing. Then why implement it...so just tell us rather than beating around the issue IE:
does it now or will it later allow them to see my other friends?
Will it allow them to see default pics?
Will it notifiy them of our logging on?
Please these are basic ?s
<p>Free members can currently use the new Friends feature. I do not know if it will always be that way or not. </p>
<p>We are not importing friends from anywhere. This is only for people on the site to use.</p>
Rabbit has a free profile so we sent her a friend request from our profile and she was able to accept it.
She tried to send a friend request from her profile to some posting in this thread but you must have free members blocked so a free member cannot try to friend you.
However, Wayne's profile is open to free members and she was able to send a friend request to his profile.

Importing lists should be very wrong considering the nature of this site. In Fact that possibility alone will have us off here real quick n fast.
This is more for Wayne in CS, Can those who are free members accept a friend request? Can they send requests?
Wayne, Did I miss your message on this?
Thanks
I can't wait until I accidently hit "import all your Facebook friends" button that is sure to come....... will be interesting!!!
@sls_WayneC
THANK YOU...thank you for answering some of the questions around the "Friends" Tab.
Just understand its very very unorthodox to role out a feature but not have it fully explained and worse yet fully functional.
You will get more adoption of the feature if you explain as we asked before:
1) Will "Friends" be able to see other friends once this is fully implemented?
2) Will it allow access to galleries, or to see when we are online with a notification ect?
3) What are the other features of the Friend tab and how will they affect my user experience?
Being vague only makes people stew and obviously this is not your goal so please enlighten us ...pull back the curtain and explain so we can feel comfortable engaging with your new feature and heck maybe even promoting and embracing it wholeheartedly!
Updating the app worked.
Won't know if we will use this feature until we learn what the benefits are but we aren't opposed to using it to express interest, along with a message.

Update on my earlier comment about blanket private gallery permission:
I had previously granted permission for Friends to view one of our Private Galleries - a current Favorite/former Friend verified that he can still see the gallery. So it appears that while the gallery permission page allows you to grant permission to Friends it is still pointing to the group that was formerly Friends and now called Favorites.
<p><span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:open sans,sans-serif; font-size:14px">"Let's have a "Friends" feature so that our members can..............."</span></p>
<p><span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:open sans,sans-serif; font-size:14px">Interact more virtually during a pandemic where in-person swinging has all but ended. We are trying to work toward more social features for people to interact virtually during this time of social distancing.</span></p>

<p>We never elimated any message service. We replaced one internal message system with a new one. </p>
<p>The "Facebook" and "Twitter" options are menu options that have been there for years. They do not have anything to do with that page. That is a separate menu. Those options just take you to our Facebook and Twitter pages.</p>
Anyone else notice the Facebook and Twitter banners on the Friends page?
If that has something to do with the future update no way will I use the friends feature.
I am hoping since no explanation was given, that it isn't necessary to have a "virtual connection" before exchanging messages.
Unless I know exactly what future access someone would have I will not be accepting any friend requests nor initiating any.
I don't see the point I getting used to using a feature that I see no value in.
You don't have to do screen captures. Just make them Favorites instead. They'll still show up in the same way, which means the profile you've favorited won't know (I just did the same for yours to double check).
Of course this is SLS, where a half assed job is declared good enough, so when you Favorite someone you get this message:
Friend Confirmation
NYC_BF_WM is now on your list of friends
See your Friends list
Which isn't true, because they're on your list of Favorites, but whatever. it's SLS and nobody sane expects much.
In the past I have marked as "Friend" a profile to show wife later for her opinion.
So now this will not be available without the other couple knowing!
It means I have to do screen captures.
SLS W writes: “so if it is not something you are interested in, you do not have to use it.”
Seduction was correct. A ‘snarky’ comment indeed. This site continues to circle the drain.
MandC,
You have got to be joking. Developers having a meeting to discuss ideas.
We never heard of a beta test being used.
Given your assumption; what could have possibly been discussed when they decided to eliminate the email service ?
"If it ain't broke don't fix it. "
