Rampant Lying about Age

"We've taken to adding the amount of time they've been on the site to their stated ages to come up with their real age"

We're doing the same. Which is a problem if the join date is 10 years ago, there are no pics, and no certs.
We have no problems playing with older people, but not if they are 10 yrs older than our cutoff...

How they look is more important than their age....Once in their 50's, people age very differently....and if they are in their 30's or 40's, who cares.....

We've taken to adding the amount of time they've been on the site to their stated ages to come up with their real age.

It really is a problem with an easy fix. Every year on their sls anniversary automatically update the age in the profile. Easy peasy.

Last year, maybe the year before, we had a single guy email us a pretty decent email. At the end, he said something like, "here's the possible deal breaker , I'm not 50, I'm 56."

So he was well aware of what he was doing. I hate liars or people who purposely deceive others. Had this guy had his correct age, he would have had a chance. I know people stop aging at 50 because a lot of people's cut of is 50. Ours was a few years ago because I (the wife) prefer men closer to my age. I started making notes on profiles. When they've emailed us and age if I think it's sketchy.

I think the "age" misrepresentation may have something to do with the fact your age does not change on your profile here unless you change it. You could have been 50 10 years ago when you signed up and it still shows 50 yet you are 60. Some of that (not all) could be unintentional. That being said we have seen folks with more than one profile (one here one on another site) and the ages do not match. The age here is "older" and the age on the other is 10 years younger. Now we know this is the same person because the pictures, user name, and profile info is the same. Oh and both profiles have about the same "member since" date that was less than a year old. I think sometimes folks lie about age in order to get more "bites" on the bait (profile).

Then you get to pictures. No one is going to put that 3am leaving the bar or 6am messy bed head picture up. In fact most women would not be caught dead without having full makeup on in a picture (thankfully there are some like my wife that hate makeup). Also the pose goes quite a long way into hiding things as does lighting. What I am saying here is almost everyone if not everyone is presenting the best pictures they can and it can be expected that they may not look like how the picture does. We wanted to meet up with someone at our local club and it took us half the night to realize we had spoke to them because they only resembled their picture due to this. Now this does not mean you see this picture of someone in their 30's and yet in real life they look 60 and it is okay. Honestly I do think some people use "older" photos to bait the hook.

LMAO, it's exactly the bait and switch tactic that they are trying. Probably because they are trying anything to get some booty. We are not above aiming for anything above our league, but I'd never do it through misrepresentation.

LOL it's frustrating, but we differ in that we don't get why people do it. Why would you intentionally misrepresent yourself when the goal is to meet and you know with a certainty that the couple you're meeting is going to know you aren't at all what you portrayed yourself to be.

We met a couple out last summer who said they were in their early 50's. We got to the restaurant and didn't see anyone that resembled who we were there to meet so we got a booth then came here to let them know we had arrived and had a booth. A few minutes later this elderly couple rose up from their booth in another corner and started walking our way! We were dumbfounded when they sat down across from us. To any other patrons we legit looked like we were treating Gramma and Poppa out for a late dinner at 7pm. To make matters worse, the male was obnoxious and pushy, desperately trying to sell his sexual prowess and convince that a night with him would be the best night of sex that could ever be had. :::rolleyes::: What a night that was. LOL

Just for the record, there are some great looking older individuals. it's just the deception that taints the whole interaction.

The lying is the spoonful of shit that ruined the sack of sugar! LOL

Is it us, or is there some serious misrepresentation of ages on some profiles? Either that or some people have just not aged well. This goes hand in hand with outdated photos.

I understand why they may do it, but it sucks because it puts the other couple in a position where they have to turn people down and risk looking like the assholes. We are not young, but shit I'm not going to let a couple who say they are 45 but look more like 65 pull a bait and switch.
