Unfortunately, we are finding out what you have said about the Boston area.

There is rarely ever any Hot dates anywhere close to our area, only opportunities are if we travel quite a long distance which does not happen near enough anymore.

There is not a lot of action in the Boston area, especially for mature couples. A few party organizations have gone away. And for us, we never go north as there is not much of interest to us in the northern part of New England.

Work and activities tend to take us south, anywhere from Connecticut to DC. So we have enjoyed clubs, parties, Meet & Greets, & dates in CT, NY, NJ, PA, & MD. If I (M) are visiting clients, C will come along and work remotely and we’ll arrange to finish the week somewhere we can play at the end of the week or the weekend. Or C attends conferences held by a northeast chapter of a national organization, always held in nicer hotels in Atlantic City, Philly, Baltimore. I’ll tag along and we’ll try to arrange something.

We will post Hot Dates, and usually change our location when we get somewhere new. And we agree that SLS is the site that covers the largest geography across the country. We do belong to other sites: one is strong in FL, one is strong in the mid-west, one is strong on the west coast, and one is strong in Europe. We do travel to all of those locations so while we’ll change our location on all of them, responses are obviously greater on those sites that seem to cater to those locations.

We'd agree. For best nationwide coverage it's SLS. We're on another site & it's heavy regional. FL in particular.

Kasidie and SDC are usually the main competition, but even those are geographically heavy in certain areas. SLS seems to have the best coverage across the USA.

Sites tend to be regional everywhere in the world. SLS is still probably the best for overall in the states especially if you travel a lot.

So then where did everyone gravitate to?

To shield themselves from liability SLS was proactive in shutting off free profile access to paid account information. They were months ahead of other sites in this regard. That was one thing and the biggest is they rolled out some odd rules about house parties, groups, tax id’s, donations at the door, etc. and many groups shifted to other places. They happened at roughly the same time. These two things together caused many to be pretty perturbed and have never come back to the site. The lack of free profile access isn’t too unusual, but the other rules are pretty much an SLS thing and were viewed as a major hassle imposed by people who don’t understand the lifestyle.

How did they change policies? From what to what?

SLS lost about 80% of its traffic in the Louisville area maybe a year before you all moved there. They were the first site to change policies and many shifted to other places. Before that there would be around 15 hotdates on a weekend.

Proximity to other swingers is probably the only thing we forgot to add to the criteria spreadsheet when choosing a retirement location! :-(

Sounds like our area, I need to change location to 100 miles to see any results otherwise there's maybe 1 or 2 for the month within 50 miles

Yes indeed! FL is a "Target rich environment" lol! We've met some nice couples there on our visits & continue to. Other parts of the country the pick 'ins are slim.

Yup. You live in a great part of the US, but a "swinger mecca" it is not.

We have some play time scheduled for tonight with a few couples and a bunch of single guys. I went on to Hot Dates to see if any local folks were looking for something to do; we would like to invite another couple.

When I pulled up Hot Dates for January there was one date listed for the whole month. One. And there were no events listed.
Out of curiosity, I changed the search location to our old home, Boca Raton, Fl.
31 dates and three events were listed. And that’s just for tonight!

We love living here in the Midwest, but, wow, my wife really misses the play opportunities in Florida.
