Your understanding? If you don’t know what’s going on, then why isn’t someone from SLS replying here with actual info?

Wayne,
App users are missing group messages. They're not getting the invites to the group.

Right now the app does not support groups at all. What that means is if someone is ONLY using the app, they will not be a member of any groups and will not be missing any group messages. If they use both the app and a browser, they will see any group messages when they are on the browser. My understanding is that groups will be added to the app in a future update.

"Anyone else have the abiding impression that whoever is in charge of decisions doesn't actually swing or understand how it works?" I've felt that way all along. The decision-making process is being driven by a "visionary" building castles in the clouds with little to no understanding of the lifestyle and how it works. The end result is a hook-up app like Tinder, Grindr, etc that doesn't stand out from it's competitors in an respect, but does alienate it's existing clientele to an obscene degree.
It also very much reminds me of the Underpants Gnome's business plan in South Park: Step 1 - Develop App; Step 2 - ?; Step 3 - Profit!
Some smart web developer should put together an app that really does service the full breadth of the LS experience, and let the Field of Dreams philosophy get to work...Kickstart it and never look back.
Maybe. It seems a little short sighted, since on line is a very inefficient way to meet people. So inefficient that eventually the attrition in paid members transferring to lifetime will reflect the less than optimal results. That's less likely to happen if SLS stays a resource for the ways in which one actually meets others.
I think the intended result is to do away with the groups, forums etc. Anything that is not available in the app basically will soon just die a slow death due to attrition.
Anyone else have the abiding impression that whoever is in charge of decisions doesn't actually swing or understand how it works?
Just imagine if the new wrinkle told you someone had opened THEIR photos. Instead of adding to the cacophony of seagulls screaming hey, hey, hey, hey, you might discover potential playmates, because you wouldn't start off pissed off by yet another entitled approach.
Or, hey, what if everyone involved understood that you're much more likely to find PILF in person, so invitations to groups and events increase your chances?
Intended behavior to keep app users in the dark if they are invited to a group event? That just seems silly, what is the incentive for using the app then? We use the site both on our phones (android and apple) and PC's browsers, no problem other than being limited to IM's and no email feature, which is a shame considering other competing LS sites have both features and also work on the phones and PC's sans apps. M
I think it's intended behavior in the app. There's no mention of groups at all in the app
"So app users won't even know they were invited. No way to see the invites"...is management aware of this issue?
Yes app users and non app users can exchange IMs. You cannot send them email through the site as there is no way to view it on the app. They get no notification or indication of any type that an email is waiting on them.
For the vast majority of users this isn't an issue as you can't initiate an email. But for those who run groups this is a MAJOR Gap. The only way group owners have to efficiently communicate with their members is via bulk email. Email is also how invites to the group are sent when using that functionality. So app users won't even know they were invited. No way to see the invitation email.
Happy New Year to all you lifestylers out there, let see what 2020 brings to SLS! So, we got our first "Sent you a private image access request, View their profile to accept!,(Automated Message)" They even opened up pictures for us (cute couple BTW =) We sent them a message and opened up our pictures to them. So the question is, will an app user see a message sent to them by a non-app user? Hate to have them think we are blowing them off, we hope the app and non-app systems are somewhat compatible? M&C
Ending my New Year with a laugh, thanks AandJ!
:-D

Cravings,
You're mixing so many topics together that we can't follow your logic. You go from dangers of the app to FOSTA to communication options all at once.
Then you throw out the " not looking to debate" line. You have nothing to worry about I promise. It's not possible to debate the stream of consciousness style you're using. It's like a Camus novel but less cohesive.
The FOSTA bill was to curb sex trafficking mainly. In addition, cut into the prostitution business taking place on personals web pages. A swingers website is not a vehicle for child sex trafficking. It is doubtful that a prostitute could make a living here either. Since we are here willing to share sex with others. Tinder, OK Cupid and many others just replaced Craigslist and are thriving. SLS seems to use FOSTA fears for something else.
The biggest competition swing websites didn't bat an eye at this.
To eliminate the common form of communication (emails) and require a communication form that is being eliminated across the world wide web (IM) is interesting. No explanation. I am just making an observation. Not looking for a debate on here.
Wow. Having just recently joined for $150 we were a bit surprised at the functionality of the site (or lack of). And seeing the responses ?? from support to paying members is sad, Iv been In IT for 25 years.... and those responses would never be accepted
I seem to remember several websites making a big deal about it. Hell, Craigslist shut down a huge section of their site.
I been saying it for weeks and weeks.
The app is Bad news. All the tech magazines warn us about this bullshit.
SLS made such a bullshit issue about FOSTA.
No other websites said a word to their membership about it. Blah, blah, blah.
j_and_k_afterdark:
Some of that info could be used for litigation.
Some of that info could be considered kompromat by state actors. So if you have a sensitive postion ...
Another feature that sucks. Man, why is SLS trying to make this harder, not easier to use?
That's easy. So we stop using the website and start using the mobile app.
Fun fact: Did you know that all Android apps have the ability to scan your phone to get a list of all other installed apps? It's common for companies to do this to build a profile of people and sell that information to advertisers (and anyone else). It's extremely valuable data to know where you bank, order food, what social networks you use... and whether you're active in the LS.
"What is the goal of this website today"
It is a goal of a saboteur mole to soon directevryon to another site. This happeded with SwapperNet
"if we don't keep all IM history in the message window then we have no way of knowing about any prior contact unless we make notes on profile - causing us a lot more work than the old mail system."
That is extremely annoying.
We are blocking a lot more people now if we don't want to attach notes and want to keep IM section uncluttered
Hey now. Not every pervert named Joe on SLS is creepily trolling for photos.
wiggles puppet
Of course, if someone were to spontaneously open their sexy photos, I promise I won't think about you when i masturbate. shifty eyes
We are witnessing the "Craigslisting" of SLS where the creepiest, least desirable features are systematically replacing everything we, the members paid for when we joined. It's as if the site is being run by a 45 year old incel.

This new feature is nothing more than a "Cat call". A fucking impersonal messege.
Nothing more than a feature for
MASS MASSEGES. Junk mail.
Another negative backwards step.
Without personal communication we NEVER share our private pics. Now the new and improved SLS has created a feature for JOE PERVERT to just "one click" his way thru the entire website to collect pictures. What is the goal of this website today ? We joined to communicate with other like minded swingers.
We have gotten several of these messages, and we are not on the app. It just comes into our message inbox. My issue with this is that if we are interested in a profile, we send out at least a "hello" or a short message. If we do not find that they are compatible with us, at least our profile shows up as having viewed them and the are welcome to contact us. With this new private image access request, its an automated message. If someone can't be bothered to reply with a proper message to us, or contact us by actually writing something to us, and has to use what is essentially, an impersonal keystroke on their cellphone to send us an automated message, well then, I don't think we are a fit for them.
