Does deleting a picture *really* delete it?

Anything on the internet lives forevet True, but not really what I am asking. Within the context of the California Consumer Privacy Act, I want to know if SLS deletes data upon user request or merely archives it.

Amazon store - Wayne

You guys are both lifetime members. There's nothing more for SLS to sell to you. Once you understand that this makes you the product--*not the customer*--everything else suddenly makes sense. Your eyeballs are being rented to advertisers (…

Why even have free members?

1. They serve as bait to encourage more people to sign-up and pay. Makes it seem like more fish in the sea. 2. Gives SLS an opportunity to build their mailing list and continue to try to convince free users to convert to paying users. 3. M…

Covid Light - Hold the insults

We've been on break since this whole thing happened. I haven't posted here in probably a year. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm scanning these threads to check for posters in our area. Just like the hot dates and events lists, I'm t…

Website: Private image access request

Another feature that sucks. Man, why is SLS trying to make this harder, not easier to use? That's easy. So we stop using the website and start using the mobile app. Fun fact: Did you know that all Android apps have the ability to scan your…

General site reliability

@mayhem8 Yup. The changes that have been made over the past few months require more computing resources. The site reliability was iffy back before they nuked email. I wrote a forum post back then in which I predicted that reliability would…

viewing certs - screen reshresh issues

@constantcravings No, it's not some nefarious plan to level the playing field. As usual, it's just technical incompetence from SLS's web development staff. They're slowly rewriting the website, once piece at a time, to make it easier to ac…

Silly Question

@AdventurousQueen iPhones and iPads use an operating system called IOS. IOS does not support Adobe Flash, which is the technology that the chatroom uses. It will never work on your iPad. (And Flash will stop working for pretty much everyon…

Merging of message posts

It's because the underlying technology (socket.io) uses websockets to asynchronously communicate between clients. Most competent developers add logic that resyncs the messages properly on each end. However, SLS did not.

IM Default Display Order Now .wtf?

@luvhavnfun1 The problem with that theory is that even alluding to competing websites in the forums or your profile will cause a kneejerk reaction from the site admins. Hanlon's Razor is way more applicable here.

Chat room

It uses Adobe Flash--which not surprisingly at SLS--is antiqued technology at this point. Flash was put out to pasture four years ago and will be completely euthanized at the end of next year. I wouldn't bother going through the hoops you…

Bring back the mail

Why is everyone just throwing up their hands and saying "oh well, I guess I just have to deal with it?" Vote with your feet! We've already set up profiles on competing websites since this whole fiasco started. And we have a date with a cou…

Bring back the mail

@mayhem I appreciate the kind words and suggestions. However my point is that SLS does not an economic incentive to cater to the needs of lifetime members. They've already gotten every nickel they ever will from us. Our only value is in th…

Bring back the mail

@goodgolly Like us, you're a lifetime member. You're no longer a paying customer. You're now the product being sold to prospective new members. I feel so dumb paying for a lifetime membership.

Bring back the mail

@888eatme888 Microsoft Edge uses the same engines as Google Chrome (Chromium and V8). Claiming that Edge "isn't supported" is a nonsensical, lazy answer from support.

Bring back the mail

What do they stand to lose? Uh, Monthly Active Users? Which is the most important key metric for any online community. The old guard here are mostly actual swingers. Once they abandon ship the newbies will be left wandering a ghost town. S…

Bring back the mail

seriously_bimi, the new chat feature is built using socket.io, which is an implementation of websockets using node.js. It's not exactly cutting-edge tech these days but light years ahead of the site's main tech stack (ColdFusion). Besides…
