This issue has been reported to the developers.

Would be wonderful if on the home page that the web masters would post a message simply telling us it is down for maintenance avoiding all the running around trying to ascertain if its "me" or "them." Just a few minutes to communicate.
Experiencing the same problem this morning. How are we supposed to send a support ticket when the message system won't load?
Can't read messages, or submit support ticket concerning it.
Thanks!
Ditto, messaging is not working now. Well, I don't think it works when it works, but right now it is offline.
as a follow up also not able to send messages or read messages as will not connect.
unable to open messages as just get the searching circle icon. Tried to submit a support ticket also a no go, not able to select topic for support and will not submit. any help will be appreciated.
Hey Wayne... seriously, stop pretending you care. Your comments (all that I have seen) are insulting to your paying customers, and disregard the underlying hatred they all feel for the changes your company shoved up their asses. At least own it man... stop telling us we are the problem because we dont register a proper complaint. See my last post... I have asked three times in slightly over three months why you blaclisted my account... No Answer At All. People don't "properly" register isssues because when they try, you piss on them. DUH...
The IM system implemented here sucks. I mean, technically... I am a software tester for over 20 years, it is ancient and just atrocious, and that has nothing to do with whether I would rather have email or not.
Further, since my account was shut down the first time I stated my opinion about all of this, over three months ago, I have asked pointedly three times why it was shut down. It was quietly re-instated (which I dont give a shit about, see below...) but no one has ever answered the simple question... Why was my account blacklisted?
Before email was shut down, we would get a dozen or so messages a week. I think, since the shift, we have gotten, maybe a dozen or so messages, PERIOD... and mostly from single guys. They destroyed this site overnight, without a care in the world.
If you want to see IM and Email blended well, technically, there is another site, not called Shiver, but close to that, more like what your body may do during sex than when you are cold, but they got the technical part down well. Sadly, they are new, and almost no one near me is on that site, so... back to magazines I guess??
Please copy, reference, repeat, remember what I am saying here, as I have no doubt my account will be banished again before I wake up tomorrow morning. Good luck here...

Please submit a support ticket if you are having an issue. We cannot help you if we do not know you are having an issue. Although I try to scan the forums, they are not the way we provide support.

It’s a total mess up we’re having the same issues and it seems no one can fix the problems or cares
I can see our message 'list' but when I click on ANY of the messages, a blank box shows up. No conversation, no text, no nothing. Just a blank field. At the top it reads "recipient name".
...yep, working like a charm and received positively by the vast majority of SLS users. Yes, Sheldon, sarcasm.
Email is technically "electronic mail", vs a semi-functional "instant" messaging system that limits the characters and screws up spacing, punctuation and line breaks.
We prefer the non-email electronic mail over the current non-instant message system. I would bet the site that we decide to switch to will have a much better system and techs who care about what the paying users want.

They have removed the old "Mail" icon from profiles now. If you had been using that one, you will need to switch over and use the "MESSAGE" button at the top of the profile page. That button will be green if the other person is online and grey if they are offline.

No, that limit was removed a few weeks ago. A message can be up to 2000 characters and it will not be broken into pieces.

So we are no longer limited to a set number of spaces before the message gets segmented as in the beginning of the changes?

This site had an internal site mail system (technically, that is not email. The site has never had "email"). We replaced that with a new internal site mail system. We combined the internal site mail system with the internal IM system and now they are all one system called the "Messenger". You can send the exact same type messages with the new system as you could with the old.

Scarlett,
You’re coming a little late to the party. The “why” really isn’t important anymore. The fact is that the site owners decided to not give us an email option. They have improved the IM function, so we are thankful for that. If you research a few threads, you’ll find that many people are not happy, but their satisfaction is not relevant.
Question: why is it no option to email or message anymore?
And now when we try to open the messages it will only go to a blank message titled "recipient name".
Way to go guys, you've made the site completely useless.
And yet again, responded to several messages this morning, only get the "reconnecting" banner, have to close the browser and reopen to go back to the main page, this reminds me of DOS 3.0 and early AOL. After an hour of attempts. zero communications. Maybe I'll clear mu cache, restart my WIFI, reboot the modem and re-install Windows, fuck me to tears! IT USED TO WORK! the mail system was clunky and primitive, but at least it worked!
It's really sad, SLS had become popular in our area, now everyone is looking for a different website that actually works. Lifetime membership my big ol' butt!
sadly thats the truth blocking is ultimately the only real option to avoid email the same people again at least before you knew. Blocking is kinda rude you never know if you meet a couple face to face if you hit it off its completely different.
so what are you left with blocking ?
We are blocking a lot more peoile now.
Blocking removes their message to us on the IM page at same time.
That removes clutter and assures that it won't happen again
I know what you mean, yeaokay. I wrote a complaint here and tried to voice a similar sentiment in our profile. Management not only blocked my posts they suspended my account until I "fixed" my profile! That, and the profile changes must be approved and it can take 24-48 hours, is very "big-brotherish." I just wish I hadn't canceled my subscription to The Psychic Friends Network so I could figure out what's going on in the minds of management!
