Messaging System Malfunction

Fellow swingers. Do be careful complaining about the new site 'improvements' and be cautious when'bothering' CS . Speaking from experience: Big Brother is watching. I spent several weekends alone if you get my meaning. I have tried to reply to several members posts by going to their page but being a unicorn I am frequently blocked by many who block single females. I enjoy the Forum. I have tried AFF and SDC but cannot find the caliber of friends there that I find here; regardless of the swarm of new members now that there is the videochat option which no unicorn in her right mind would ever use. Has anyone else noted how many new folks there are? I put in my profile to please be a long-term member of SLS . I want swingers not men looking for a quick fuck.Well, I like that too but you know what mean. HA!

this has to be the absolute worst decision I have ever seen an antique if I have ever seen one ! now you have no clue who you send an email to no history to refer to nothing. so what are you left with blocking ?? anything but this and its a constant whine about " outside communication" look we all know the website itself is in dire need of a refresh.. its almost like its made for dial up modems bwahhahaha

Wkendfun what site is it? I’ve been on here as a couple for 6 years and now as a SM since we split and this new message system is horrible so far. If there is a more local to me site that’s half as good I will consider it.

Please encourage everyone to submit a ticket to the support team if they are having problems with the messenger system. I have done this but the reply I get is "We don't see anything on our end, it might be your system/server". If they get enough tickets submitted explaining the specific problems folks are having maybe it will help them figure out the problem.

I've noticed that many "new" websites are forming with the groups and clubs that are on here. In the past, many little sites formed but never survived, however, it seems SLS has become money first-- service seldom (or never) website, so these new sites just may prove to be successful. They are smaller more personal and much more local. I finally joined one today so we can be in contact with people nearby attending the same events as we do. I'll continue to use SLS to get information on events at other places but don't see myself using SLS as frequently anymore. What really surprised me was the number of members that joined the other site from SLS in a VERY short time.

Oh, yeah, I noticed that too. If there's a blank line in between two (short) paragraphs, it looks like that counts as two messages too, even if the 255 character limit might not have been reached. Plus, a ton of my replies get stuck onto the ends of other people's messages unless I exit out and re-enter the conversation. Definitely buggy and clearly the people working on this don't actually use it.

The character limitations have been increased but if you get a fairly long message from one person the little red dot will for new messages will indicate two or more and the tiny bit of preview before you click on the message often starts in the middle of a word.

My guess is that the 255 character limit is still hard coded somewhere in the software.

But I agree - once you are looking at the conversation with one person it isn't too bad.

"...soup cans and kite string."

I'd say sign me up for beta testing, but I'd be laughing too hard to type.

To be fair, as buggy as the system is - I have messages I can't currently see because I just have a blank screen - at least the character limitation has been changed enough that you can send more than one or two lines at a time. So, if it ever reaches reliability, it won't be too different from email.

I have heard the R&D department are experimenting with soup cans and kite string.

I'm really starting to think that this site was secretly purchased by the Westboro Baptist Church, and they're trying to dissuade us from our sinful ways.

Earlier today we received a message, I could see the first few words but when I clicked on it, the message was blank. I tried to reply to let them know we got their message but mine wouldn't send.

Great job SLS. Your only form of communication doesn't work. Well done.

And since the elimination of the email system, now the messaging system doesn't seem to work half the time. You thought you replied to a message? Nope, it timed out, and now it's gone, nobody is the wiser because there's nothing in place to show delivered or read, no way to tell if they're online, you have to go back & re-check each communication.

Great improvement towards total obsolescence.
