Removing the mail system and going with IM-only for communication sucks. Way to make the user experience worse for your users.

There was a POLITENESS about sls that is taken away.... before I could just not look at IM and could choose when “I” wanted to let Over zealous IM ‘er know we were available to talk with the goal of meaningful play.

Can you imagine how May FRIENDS are going to get their feelings hurt because you see that they saw their IM’s and may not have had a second to respond. Good Lord. Lol complete and utter chaos. Lmao !

I know sls is a business, I would actually be willing to pay an extra fee a year for mail. Yes, I realize a lot of you are scoffing about paying on top of a lifetime membership. Sls take advantage. I bet a lot of us would.
IF a survey is being conducted, or you value ANY of your customers' opinions, please place MY vote to the 'switch' to IM-Only communication as a step backwards. My preference? The way it 'was'!

We prefer the Mail option rather than IM due to the limits on space.
It looks like they are doing away with mail altogether and just going with IM
I guess we'll see when the dust settles what all of the changes are after today, but I did notice that the "Mail" button was gone and only "Message" was available just now. Also saw a "Video Chat" button,
I hope the mail doesn't go away because you can only see 2-3 lines of text at a time in the Message text entry section. If things go this way I'll have to write my emails in a separate editor then cut/paste them into the Message box.
I did talk to Tech Wayne and he told me that you could not turn it off it's on for everyone- the choice is not there...

Try being a single bisexual female?? it's much different when you're a couple no matter what the excuse is I should be able to have a choice of having it or not having it... It could be ignored but that's not fair to whomever messages me I wish I could turn it off...
Must ether be age or maybe location, but we really don't get that many IMs.
While having an ability to turn IM off might be nice for some, I'd also like more than just the red dot with a number because we tend to miss them ourselves. After all, we are here to meet people and we can sometimes do spur of the moment, which IM could be good for if we didn't miss them so easily.
A little red dot with a number in it is overwhelming?
We find we miss a lot of IMs because that’s all that appears.

I hate this feature IM messaging I wish as a paying member I could turn it off.. I get overwhelmed....
Is there still a way to turn the ability to receive messages on and off still? We haven't gotten any in forever and when we look at our profile, the "message" icon is grayed out.
Our IM will not open unless connected to WiFi. If we're out and about forget it. Anyone else have this issue?

30 minutes and over a dozen attempts before it does open...………………………….
Admin: You know, we've been onboard throughout these changes over the past two years and have had no real issues, even as far as to defend the changes to the site, until tonight. This is the once a month our schedules allow us to have a weekend off together to be able to do our sexy "thang".
The dilemma: We get an IM from the person(s) we are to meet in two hours and it won't open anything other than a blank page. Are they on time? Are they late? Can you look for us? Better yet, can you PLEASE just put a messaging system in that isn't going to crap out on us when we need it the most?

Unfortunately, deleting and re-posting is one of the only ways to edit a post. So many times I hit submit and say, "Oh crap". One of the most common things I do is use "you" when I meant to say "your". I'm sure people can figure it out, but it just bugs me, so I fix it.
With IMs I'll just do an addendum type of post. For example, if I typed something like "blah, blah, blah, and that was really wired, so blah", I'll type in "....was really weird...". Perhaps that's just me being really wired ;-)
You should not be able to delete messages or IMs
I'm guessing the free member was once a paid member...
I finally found out how to remove that annoying red number! I searched and searched but could never get a red 2 to go away. I finally scrolled and scrolled down on IM's and you guessed it, somehow a "free member" had two texts assigned to them. I deleted and now the number is gone. Of course, I feel silly not figuring that out sooner but what the heck, it's gone!!! Happy days....

I tried this and the only pictures that it allows you to select from are the ones in your Public gallery, or at least that was the case for us.
it seems like we should be able to send a picture in the IM ....We can see the icon but when we attempt to use it...an empty gallery appears.....i am guessing that we are just doing something wrong but as we are new to the site we are to uneducated to figure it out...help please...qtowncple
