Notes on popup info

MandC, Yelp gave you 3-1/2 stars.

Not quite the best possible rating, but if we ever get to MA, we'll check out your profile for our ownselves.

If ours is the profile being rated, we’d rather someone read our profile before determining which star we’d be.

I'm pretty sure I can determine not interested without going into a profile. The other 3 options, I agree.

I believe another benefit of the star system is when using the search feature, you can check the Hide those you're not interested in:, and it will not show the profiles marked with the red x star.

It would also be cool if the star could be modified without going into a profile, but I'm sure that is asking too much.

Guess I learned something new today- I had no idea what the star rating was.

Thank you to Wayne for looking into this and the others who gave good ideas. I had no clue on the Star rating system! Now to go back and star all the profiles I have notes on...whew! I am going to play with it a bit but am still hopeful notes can be added.

I can see where adding Notes to the flyover/popup might not be doable given the space constraints - but having the Star rating on flyover/popup would be almost as good.

And am I missing something or is the flyover/popup unavailable in Messages?

Long press for the Flyover - I learned something today.

<p>That is a good point that I had forgotten about. You can use the star rating to rate it as "not interested" and you will see that icon by the profile without having to view the profile. </p>

<p>I never said you could not use the Flyover feature on a mobile device. I said it was not easy to use and it isn't. You can just open and view a profile as fast as you can use a long press. I would also estimate that the large majority of mobile users do not even know that a long press exists. The long press is not intuitive and it is generally only used to safeguard against performing an action that can't be undone, like deleting an app.</p>

<p>It seems the root issue is that members want to be able to quickly see notes that they have placed on a profile. I will give that some thought on an intuitive way to do that. </p>

The star rating system is in place to work similarly to the thumbs up/down that was mentioned. The stars can be seen without clicking on the profile if you have chosen one for that profile.

Speaking personally, we have clicked on profiles we had no interest in, and realized we had notes indicating no interest. The profiles we clicked on took our view as interest and Messaged us again. This gets awkward.

We prefer not to block profiles that we have no interest in. Mostly because we can’t see why we might have blocked them when clicking on their profile, and we just don’t want keep blocking profiles.

So having notes on the Flyover would be a big help.

Maybe if we had a “Thumbs Up” or “Thumbs Down” emoji where with one click we could easily note which profiles we’ve seen and identify whether we had interest or not. And the Thumb could appear on the Flyover so that the Flyover wouldn’t have to jam a bunch of notes onto it. Thumbs up means we’ve viewed the profile previously and we liked it. Thumbs down if we’ve seen it and had no interest. And a grayed out thumb if we haven’t indicated whether we have interest or not.

Not sure why you think the flyover doesn't work well on touch devices. My Android phone using Chrome works great for the flyover. Just long press on the profile pic - like here in the forums - and I get the flyover pop. Easy peasy.

I think this would be a great idea. They give us the option to leave notes on a profile, why not see them when we mouse over them, or "touch" them with no mouse needed as others have said? ~N

Yeah Waybe what are you talking about. If I hold my finger down on a profile thumbnail in my phone, the popup comes up ... no mouse needed

I use the feature on my phone all the time. No mouse needed.

More and more of our members are accessing the site with touchscreen devices and aren't using that feature.</span></p>

Absolutely, this would be an awesome feature to add.

This is something we'd like to see as well.

We end up clicking on a profile only to see we've added a note that says they sent a message but we have no interest. Too late. That profile thinks we were interested because we looked at the profile. If the notes are on the flyover, we can prevent that.

I know we can block the profiles we're not interested in, but we really don't want to go blocking dozens pf profiles.

Yeah Ive said this many times. Totally agree with this idea
