Messaging

Usually people just move to a third party messaging app pretty quick to avoid the issues. I know SLS frowns on it, but it has to be expected when the site messaging system is this unreliable.

The disappearing message glitch on the website seemed to disappear but now it's back. I've had to copy and paste a message three times on two succesive days to get it to post. It's annoying.

It's not you. This thing is hosed. It eats messages. You type a long message to someone. Hit send, and nothing shows in the history window. You do a refresh, and realize your message went into an abyss and there is no retrieving it. You have to type it all over again. This time you get smarter, and you do a copy before you hit send, just in case....

Is it just us or is messaging acting up again?

I'm not sure how to report this, but "the bird" just does what it wants to do. If it isn't there you might have messages, if it is there, you might not have messages.

The message count doesn't relate to how many messages are there.

Example 1: Bird there, 2 messages claimed, only one actual message
Example 2: Bird there, no messages claimed, 2 messages; read the messages, and the bird stays
Example 3: No bird, 2 messages claimed, one message.

We have messages and cannot reply it even see them. When will this be fixed?

And when its time to pay for your subscription that part works great

Really would be a shame if we could use the features on this site that we pay for. Can't even put a ticket in as that's broken as well. But the part that you can input your credit card and pay is operating 100%!

I’ve noticed a significant decline in the number of people on the site. When churn (high turnover) occurs in social media the natural evolution is to lower subscriptions or eye balls in advertising models. Typically, service providers do everything possible to keep the customer on board so that the core subscriber base increases. In this case there are less people on every day due to not being able to log on AND shrinking viewers. It’s a complete death spiral and certainly not just an IIT glitch. SLS probably didn’t pay the ransom to the hackers and is learning that paying the criminals is the best of the Hobson’s Choice

Messaging still not working this morning. As Gomer Pyle would say Surprise surprise!

Messaging is a mess, hot dates has become wanky, isn’t this a site to meet (aka communicate) with like minded folk? I’m not looking for a dumb IT person!

Great............So the one way left to communicate on this site isn't working, and has worked on & off for weeks...........And SLS won't let anyone post alternative methods of communication. We can't respond to our messages, it takes several refreshes just to be able to read them, and we've given up trying to send Messages.

So do the developers not know what's causing the problems? Or are they unwilling to dedicate the resources (money or manpower) to resolve them? It seems worse since the "SLS is undergoing upgrades......" banner was posted at the top of the page. Cynical people might think there are no upgrades being done and that the banner is just there to make an excuse for the constant issues.

If they have their Who Viewed Me turned off then they won't show on others WVM when they look at their profiles.

Click on a message and I get recipients name. Never loads up. Ya ya I know your working on it.

Not working again!

Interesting as well when we have a new message from someone and when we look at "who viewed us" that profile is not there. How did they find us? Spooky!!!!

I tried messaging someone new. I clicked on their message link and it brought me to messaging, but not to them specifically. So for now at least, it looks like I cannot message someone new.

For ha-has, I tried messaging someone that I've messaged before, and it doesn't bring me to my messages for them, so messaging is temporaily broke (again) for now.

Sometimes a little spanking is nice. Somehow I get the feeling that I’d pull my pants down, lean over the knee, grit my teeth and get a 404 error.

I had a new message that I clicked on earlier this morning and saw nothing. It cleared the new message indicator (red 1) and I saw zero message history from this person.

An hour or so later, I tried again. Though the "red 1" was not there, I was able to read the new message and see the prior ones,

I did try to send a message this morning and it did not go through. After sending it I saw "Reconnecting..." and it reconnected, but the message was gone and had to be retyped and resent.

I have started doing a copy of my messages (select message then type CntrlC), and if something goes wrong, I can recover it from my paste buffer with a CntrlV.

That is the way all the kids are doing it...…

Some of us troglodytes do not like to have our online experience limited to our phones though.
We might just be screwed. Oh well I can still fall back on snail mail and pigeons, when the PC interface collapses

This site has been absolute shit for the past month, this has been the worst weekend yet. As people beg for an answer as to why, the only time customer service poked their head out was when a customer was wrong about their profile updating. I think it’s time to start looking for a new site to meet people.

And the FU messaging continues this morning. When will it end?

Come on Guys / Gals.. shows we have 2 messages and see our SLS FWB sent us something.. when we click it on "NOTHING".. says recipients name.. Gee !
