And PhoebertAndWife win the prize! Unfortunately those wands weren't TOO magic - one quit working, and the other spectacularly blew a breaker and set off the smoke alarm at a hotel where we were playing. We're using battery powered wands now - no more 120 Volt plug ins...

When we were hosting parties, our icebreaker was Mrs Smith doffing her one piece dress, commando underneath, and saying “it’s time”! Needless to say, the ice melted in mere seconds.
And she loved being the center of everyone’s attention during that moment…
I can see ice breakers potentially causing problems. The ice breakers are generally optional, but can still be a problem. For example, one we went to had a "nut and bolt" game. Guys grab a random bolt and girls grab a random nut of various sizes, and you're supposed to start with the person where the nut/bolt match.
If someone isn't interested in the person they matched with, at a minimum, it's going to feel awkward.
Not really a theme, more of an ice breaker:
I went to a party once where it was made clear that at a certain time after everyone had arrived and had a drink that all clothes were to come off. We were nude the rest of the evening. Really opened up the conversation (among other things).
As a variation on that theme, there's a Swingers Club in the Netherlands called "Fun 4 Two". Each evening at 10 pm the DJ plays the club's theme song. That's a signal for everyone to change from street clothes in to sexy lingerie (or simply nothing at all) for the rest of the evening.
Both seem to work very well.

Male Half here.... one theme I personally enjoy when meeting out in public is coresets. Nothing like have 10 couples meet our for a local band with the girls wearing coresets... It gets lots of attention.
For house parties....not really a theme.... We have done a sexy gift exchange. Bring a gift bag and take a gift bag. Doesn't have to be Christmas. Fun ice breaker and sometimes the new toys get tested out in the next few hours. $20-$30 range seems to work. Participation is optional.
My other favorite theme is Pirate. Almost everyone has a Pirate costume.

I'm not sure why one would think togas don't work. Everyone has sheets, so it's not like you need to go drop a bunch of money or time on costume shopping. Another nice thing is that after removing one article of clothing, you'd be naked if you went commando and they also allow for easy access.
I guess a lot of this depends on what the focus of the party is. If the focus is more on playtime, all the time and effort of the costume goes out the window within the first hour of the party as people get naked. The more elaborate the costume, the more reluctant people will be to get out of and back into it. A lot of corsets fall into that category.
If we bother having themes at all for our parties, we try to keep them simple. People have busy lives and if they have to now spend time shopping for a costume, it can just become another reason to not attend a party.
Some common simple themes we see are men's shirt, Hawaiian, little black dress, and of course, toga parties.
As for Cougars and Cubs, it's likely that the husbands of the married Cougars will want to attend, and likely some of them will also want to play. The effort in this party is screening the Cubs to make sure they are actually Cubs and that they play well with others. I'd imagine most established clubs already have a vetted list of younger guys.

Because the Cougars and Geezers theme didn't garner much interest? Not surprising. Everyone knows that once the geezers show up, you'll never get rid of that old people smell. It doesn't matter how much cougar pussy there is, just one geezer and.... well, anyway...

I'd (her) would like to share an icebreaker event that I found both fun and exciting.
Hubby and I attended a small house party (6-8 couples) where most of couples knew each other from enjoying previous playful nights together but there was new couples there too. Once everyone arrived and after a reasonable amount of time of clothed socializing. The host and hostess announced that it was time to enjoy an icebreaker together.
Everyone was to go change into their party attire and return. After 10 minutes or so everyone returned smiling to a huge playroom. The guys in their boxers or thongs and us ladies in our most sexiest apparel.
The host and hostess then explained that the icebreaker was a challenge for us to have oral sex with each of the opposite sex for 2 minutes, while blindfolded, and then guess who it was. We all given given a number, such as Lady 1-2-3 etc. and same for the men. We were all instructed not to speak, as to remain anonymous.
Ladies first, we all laid down in a semi-circle, smiling at one another as our heads laid close to one another but having enough room room to give each guy plenty of access to our sweetness. There was a lot of giggles and moans. A few of the men went over the 2 minute limit but no penalties were given...lol. The answers were recorded. Then men lined up side to side and remove their boxers or thongs and more fun began. Everyone truly enjoyed the challenge and there was lots of playful laughter!
When the results were tallied and read, more laughter occurred, especially as one woman identified a man as her hubby/partner and when she discovered it wasn't him. She then blurted out, "it sure felt and tasted like him!"
From there began an evening of playful fun where everyone enjoyed themselves with their old friends and made new friends too! I hope you find this "icebreaker" as playful and exciting as we did.
A question for the ladies, what are some of the best party themes you’ve seen at different parties… games icebreakers you name it. Trying to get ideas for a party later this summer. Thanks in advance
