But you still choose to hang out in the forums all day with the hoi-polloi?

"some folks can't grasp"

DNLB there you go again, bless your heart. Trying to reframe and strawman the issue.

Reoublicans aren't just trying to scrub the voter rolls of everyone that has died or moved. They are trying to scrub everyone that has not voted i the last 2 or 3 elections, including primaries and local,, which in some cases, means less than a year since the last time they voted.

And yes, the Constirution grants everyone the right to vote, unless convicted of a felony, including those that don't have an id.

Where is the evidence of WIDESPREAD voter fraud needed to justify these voter suppression efforts?

Just admit it, if everyone votes, you lose, so you are trying to make it as difficult as possible for working poor to vote.

Your own president has given up the false narrative and admitted that of everyone is able to
Vote, no Republican would ever win again. The only hope your side has of winning is making sure a big chunk of the population doesn't vote.

How evil is that?

Actually you are incorrect. Given all the chapters in my American Dream book I have more freedom and more importantly more options.

"The American Dream has been very very good to me. I have no complaints about the journey."

One day, you'll look at all the wasted energy, time and money spent on your current journey.

You just don't realize you're stuck in the same Chapter of your life.

You don't either.....

I think ppl will finally start down-sizing from their McMansions and SUVs and $7 coffee lifestyles.

Take the average worker that's been bringing home $30k to $80k over the past 15-20 yrs....
Post-taxes, they brought home in the neighborhood of $500k to $1.5 million dollars.

Not much in savings or 401k to show for it.

But in most countries of the world, other ppl could have retired in their 40's, maybe even in their 30's with that money and been good.

How much longer will Americans continue chasing that "American Dream"?

I'm amazed that some folks can't grasp the difference between an absentee ballot that must be requested with proper ID and a massive mail-in ballot that would be sent to every registered voter, living or dead. The same people that want this are also against any form of proof of citizenship, or cleaning the rolls for people who have moved, died or lost the right to vote.

It's like they want to obfuscate the entire thing.

Amazing.

In other words the only way for them to keep their jobs is capitulate to all demands from Speaker Pelosi and Minority Leader Schumer? Sounds like one party rule to me. However the scenario is not that far fetched. I've said until I'm blue in the face the majority of the Republican party operates best in the Minority. Clutch their pearls, gnash their teeth, wring their hands and promise.........the next time it will be different. They are called and often earn the nickname RINO for a reason.

I wonder if @Fun will rethink Texas voting for Trump. Yesterday there was a picture of a car line in Dallas for the food bank. The line was literally miles long.

Images are very powerful. Run an ad showing that . . .

As the Senators have to head home for August, they will be hearing shit from their constituents. That confrontation will get to them. Then it will be principles versus keeping a job. Keeping the job will push them to vote for relief. The issue will be, can they convince the big cheeto to sign off.

And... the Trumps just requested their own mail-in ballots for the upcoming Florida primary.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Glendale, AZ, Us

So, Trump is not even hiding it anymore. He says on Faux News that they can't do mail in voting if the postal service has no money to deliver the mail. His "advisor" Larry Kudlow says no stimulus that contains money for the election or postal service.

They have given up even pretending it is about voter fraud or whatever... they don't want people to vote, because TeeRump will lose Billy.

So it seems no stimulus until Dems agree to let them rig the Nov election.

Glendale, AZ, Us

So, it is seeming like the main reason we can't have a stimulus bill is because Dems want to fund mailzin voting for the election, and White House is trying to kill the postsl service before it can be used to vote him out of office.

... when there is a Republican in the White House.

The extremist Libertarians that control the Republican Party had a multi-decade plan to destroy the very popular New Deal social safety net, by cutting g taxes when they are in power, then demand spending cuts to shrink deficits when they are not in power. Aka: starve the beast

In many ways, that is what hangs in the balance in the current stand-off over the next covid relief bill.

Do we embrace big government, or let the economy tank to fulfill the wet dream of those Ayn Rand worshipers that want to return to the Gilded Age of a hand-full of ultra rich, a small middle class, and the masses living at or near a starvation wage.

Glendale, AZ, Us

How do you know something is untrue? Trump said it.

After his executive action, Trump said Dems in congress were eager to make a deal. Dems said that is "pure fantasy".

Today White House says they don't expect any negotiations on a relief measure this week.

Should we blame Trump for no bill? Partially.

Republicans can't deliver the votes to pass even a modest bill that continues to increase the deficit. Democrats in congress can deliver the votes, id they can get 12 Reps in the senate to go along. Trump can deliver those 10 Rep votes.

This means that for a deal to get done, Trump and Dems need to agree. Both sides are playing hard-ball.

Dems won't consider any bill that doesn't include lots of money for states, the postal service and mail in voting for Nov election.

Those are all non-starters for the Republicans as it goes against their decade long strategy of killing "big government" by cutting off its cash flow.

So where we are now, is exactly what I expected to happen back in March when I said we would not be getting a relief bill soon.

If I were a pedant, or Trump, I would say "see, I was right eventually"... but no, I was wrong in March, and had no clue if Republicans would play hardball this time.

What shocks me is how the stock market is shrugging off the lack of continued relief.

Things will almost certainly turn ugly when small businesses run out of PPP funds and when states don't implement Trump's (almost certainly illegal) executive order of $400 a month extended UI.

Every year about F600b leaks out of the USA economy into the hands of foreign trade partners, and every year another $1 trillion leaks out of active circulation into the hands of those that already have more money than they can spend.

Since money is borrowed into existence, someone has to be going that $1.5t a year into debt. 40 years of that, and the total debt is $56t.

The money going out the door now is just hopes the existing debt doesn't collapse. $1 trillion a month deficits... or debt collapse into global depression.

The only thing that will Magically Disappear is any accountability for the money being shoveled out the door to be paid by future generations. The Democratic House will blame increasing debt on the Republican Senate. The Republican Senate will blame the Democratic House. And in some crazy ass circles both will blame Orange Man Bad because......and only because his name appears as approving the bill(s).

It's like Christmas with the all the ornaments they both are putting on the tree. It's that rare magic time when both parties are shoveling the cash and neither can be individually held to account. $26,624,825,375,999 and GROWING. But who's counting? Apparently no one. Funny how that works.

San Luis Obispo, CA, Us

Just more Trump showmanship.

We put P.T. Barnum in the White House.

Glendale, AZ, Us

So, negotiators didn't even meet today.

Trump says his executive actions worked because Dems now want to make a deal. Dems says nothing has changed and the they have not spoken to White House officials since Friday.

Dems say the bill will have money for the Nov election, the postal service and states' budget issues. White House says those are non-starters.

So no talks until one side or the other blinks. I see no reason to think it will be the Dems.
