Oh, I get the game of semantics. Anyone can proclaim a 'win' by setting their own definition of it. The thing is, Iran can probably be bombed indefinitely and not really care. Conventional war tactics don't seem to be effective with regions in Iran, Afghanistan, and others...
Have we talked about the leaked CIA memo from last week that says Iran can withstand another three or four months of a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, retains about 70% of its missile stockpile, and restore access to many of its underground storage facilities?
I do not think so.
When I was looking for news sites to quote, I found substantially the same story in WaPo, the NYT, the Daily Wire, Newsmax, and various foreign press accounts.
It's pretty clear the administration is lying but there is a very big difference between not being completely honest about the assessments of your intelligence agencies and pretending you're winning a war that you aren't. I'm not sure we've ever encountered that level of bullshit in Washington.
Except* that was all a lie, Iran continued to enrich uranium beyond civilian uses & continued to lie about it. I mean... Shit.. at least be honest.. they want a nuclear bomb.. they were trying to build a nuclear bomb then & they are now... Obviously, paying them not to, didn't work & allowing them to use the "honor system" to watch themselves wasn't working.
President Obama on Iran: “We pulled it off without firing a missile. We got 97% of their enriched uranium out. There’s no dispute that it worked and we didn’t have to kill a whole bunch of people or shut down the Strait of Hormuz”
He could add without jacking up gas prices and everything that goes long with it...
Trump announced he's suspending the federal gas tax.
I mean, it's not within the president's power to suspend the federal gas tax, but he didn't have the power to tear down the East Wing of the White House either.
Anyway, it sounds like he might be a little worried about the political cost of his stupid, pointless war.
"Omg how much have they sunk into promoting tourism? All destroyed."
Saudi Arabia and Oman have invested a great deal in Trump and aren't getting much out of it (this is my sympathetic face).
Not to mention Saudi Arabia's $33.5 deficit for the first three months of 2026, some due to declining oil revenues brought on by Trump's poor decisions. I'm guessing the combo is why he didn't get much satisfaction trying to get Saudi Arabia to reverse their decision to not allow use of their airspace.
Kuwait too. And Oman is 'encouraging negotiations' or something like that.
This (from NBC News) is how an Iranian official is characterizing the latest US proposal: “Americans will not obtain through a failed war what they failed to gain in face-to-face negotiations, Ebrahim Rezaei said on X. “Iran has its finger on the trigger and is ready; if they do not surrender and grant the necessary concessions, or if they or their devilish henchdog allies try to act mischievously, we will deliver a harsh and regret-inducing response.”
"Ruth ben-Ghiat and Timothy Synder for the most part."
So.... Other people talking out their asses, because they are politically motivated. Neither of those people (I assume you meant Snyder) are in the US military chain of command. So anything they say is "best guess" at best.
I'm not saying they are absolutely wrong, they are likely right, to a degree. But not for the reasons they think they are.
I never said that. I said I'd like that. I'm not capable of such a feat. The only organization capable of that, is the democratic party... They are doing just fine without my help.
Ruth ben-Ghiat and Timothy Synder for the most part.
There’s simple observation, and I could bring up obvious points, however you would merely dismiss those because you’ve stated your only objective is the destruction of the Democrat party.
You may have short-term memory issues, but I do not.
“ Of course it's far larger than reported/acknowledged by the U.S. government. That always happens- stating that your losses are less than they actually are.”
Yes, but not to this degree. Omission is different from disinformation. In the absence of truthfulness, conspiracies flourish.
Disinformation is the “gift” that keeps on giving. They lie about everything and then no one will believe anything.
