And welcome to the swing nation podcast. We are your host, Northern guy. It's Southern girl. And we are back with another exciting episode of the swing nation podcast. You almost did Tuesday talks, didn't you? No, I didn't. Uh, in our new studio. Yeah. Our new studio, like some renovations with our new chairs, got some new pillows, some new books. stuff like that so right and who better to have as a guest on our new setup than the one and only Dr. Thor hey guys hello we're just talking to her before we hit record and we're like okay we don't really know what we're doing with all this equipment yet we haven't recorded with this yet so it may or may not work we're gonna figure it out and we literally just got home from LA like like less than 24 hours ago so we're like we came in and set all this up today so it'll take us a few days to kind of work out all the key For sure. Yeah, I totally get it. I had a long weekend too. I just opened up a play this weekend. So. That's very exciting. Yeah. Are you like in the play? Yes. I play a diva. Surprise, surprise. I love that. How in the world do you have time to be in a play when you're a doctor, in the lifestyle, a mother? There's no telling what all you've got going on. I can't imagine how. Yeah, I don't know how I have time to be in a play. I do it because it's good for my mental health. I love that. Yeah. I love that. That's awesome. Sorry. Okay. So today's episode, we, you know, Dr. Storr, this is how we prep our episode. She sends me a text and she's like, what would you like to talk about today? And I'm like, I don't know, Dr. Storr, what would you like to talk about today? So we kicked around a few ideas and kind of came back on allergies and the lifestyle is something to talk about. And actually, I think it's a good subject because I don't know if it's something we've I've never really had conversations about it some, but I'm, I'm interested in getting a deep dive because I'm not somebody that struggles with allergies. So I've never really had to deal with it. But just recently, I think it was at New Year's, uh, we were talking to one of our friends and in an orgy setting, somebody used a non latex free condom and she was dying basically. I mean, her, her pussy was like on fire from an allergy. And I guess I never realized quite how serious that was. And so it kind of opened my mind. So I'm interested in having a conversation because I do think there is a lot of us that never have had to deal with it. And if you have it, there's really no way for you to kind of understand it. No, no, I agree. Yeah. And it's honestly, until joining the lifestyle, I think I was a little oblivious to how many people seem to experience that. But it seems like, you know, at least in the lifestyle, there's a lot of women that prefer not to use latex based condoms because of the irritations. and things that it can cause. So it was pretty interesting to me to see that in the lifestyle space. So I think there probably is lots of other people that don't realize that that's a thing. That latex condom allergies, latex allergies is period are super common. So it's not unexpected to find a condom allergies being pretty common in the lifestyle as well. So how do I guess that's my how do you figure out you have a latex allergy? I'm assuming you just start using condoms and then you're like something is not okay is. Is there a way to test for it? Like, I guess that's my question. How do people find out about it? Well, one of the little known facts about specifically latex allergies is it's not like a bee sting allergy or like peanut allergy where your first exposure, you have a reaction. Most people with latex allergies, they develop over time. So, yeah. So it's one of those things where you may have used latex condoms off and on throughout your entire life. And all of a sudden, boom, you start reacting to it. And you're like, what the heck, what's going on? Which is one of the reasons that a lot of people don't realize what it is until they go to the doctor. And then we kind of, you know, peruse a little bit. We're like, okay, what's happened the last couple of times? And usually if they say, well, you know, my vagina starts burning after sex, you know, like, okay, what kind of condoms were you using? Were you using condoms? Or is this something allergic to something else? So yeah, latex is actually something that's fairly common to be allergic to, especially in the medical field. A lot of surgeons and people that work in the medical field, because they're exposed to latex all the time with the latex gloves and some of the equipment we use and whatnot we tend to develop the allergy over time so yeah it's not one of those things that like the first time you ever use a latex condom you react to it very often i mean can that happen yes but that's not the common way this happens usually you've used latex condoms before and you over time develop an allergy to to the latex so i guess what are the initial so if somebody's what i guess what are those symptoms what is something to watch out for It varies. Most people with a latex allergy, it's going to present kind of like poison ivy. So it burning, itching, intense discomfort. Usually burning is the sensation that people describe it as most, but like a lot of people will get sort of like an oozing or a weeping from it. So they'll be like, I haven't just like a ton of discharge and everything's red down there. And it's just fricking on fire. So it feels like kind of like a really bad yeast infection times. Yeah. Is there any rash associated with it? There can be. So it depends on the person themselves. If the condom was only ever touching the inside of the vagina, you may not notice that much redness other than maybe just at the entryway. But, you know, like I put the condom on and was, you know, smacking around on your clit ahead of time. There could be a rash all over your vulva. Or if she handled the latex condom with her hands to put it on him, she may notice a rash on her hands too. And also giving oral to somebody who's wearing a latex condom. If you've got an allergy, you'll get a rash around your mouth as well. I guess that was my question. So if you have a latex allergy, it's not just your vagina, it's your entire body that's allergic to it. Yeah. Is your vagina more sensitive though? It is. Well, the vagina is, I mean, think about like a vagina compared to anything. I mean, it's probably one of the more sensitive parts on a woman's body. It has to be. Yeah, it's partially because it's a mucous membrane that it tends to react more violently. A lot of allergic reactions. So if you think about it like a peanut allergy, people will break out into a rash, but they'll say their mouth just like goes on fire and they break out into rash inside the mouth. So it's partially because the vagina is a mucous membrane, just like the inside of the mouth is. It tends to react more violently just because of the amount of immune system response that happens in those areas. So yeah, the vagina is a little bit more sensitive and will react a little bit more violently to that type of an insult. So if someone thinks they have a latex allergy, what do you suggest? Do they go to their doctor? Is there a way for the doctor to confirm it other than just looking at it? Is there like a blood? Like where do you go from there if you feel like you are experiencing some of these symptoms? So honestly, most of the time latex allergies are really just based on exposure. So it's not like an allergy to penicillin that can be tested for. We can't just like test blood for it or do like a spot test. You can do exposure testing for allergies like latex, but we don't commonly do that. Um, mainly because you can have a pretty violent reaction to it and, you know, just exposing you to latex and seeing what you do to it, um, is not necessarily a great idea. And also some people react much more violently inside the vagina than on their skin. So they'll be like, well, it itches a little bit after I touch it, but I don't get the rash on my hands, but my vagina, oh my God, it's just on fire. So a lot of it's really just based on the patient's history. If they're like, Hey, you know what? I like my vagina. of hurts and I get burning and itching and discharge and everything. Every time I have sex and I ask, well, you know, do you use condoms? And they're like, oh, yeah. So what brand are you using? And they're like, well, I use, you know, X brand of latex condoms. And I'm like, ah, let's try using a non-latex condom and see if it happens again next time. Because it's hard for me to, unless I see them right after they've had sex with latex, for me to confirm that that's what's causing it. Gotcha. So I guess it's, so listening to what you're saying, it is plausible. Because what I'm thinking about is swingers. You know, maybe this girl does not realize that she has a latex allergy. Maybe she uses gloves to clean and stuff occasionally. Like you're saying, maybe your hands are slightly irritated afterwards, but she doesn't really think nothing of it. Now she joins the lifestyle. Her and her husband haven't been using latex condoms for the last 20 years, but she joins the lifestyle, then starts having sex with people that are using latex condoms. If she's then experiencing irritation from that sex, the latex condoms, could be a reason that that is happening. Yeah. Yeah. I guess you almost have to do like a trial and error, like try non latex free condoms and stuff like that. Just sort of see if you react basically. Yeah. Cause there's, I mean, there's a lot of other things that you can potentially be sensitive to that go down by the vagina when you're having sex. I mean, yeah, it could be. Yeah. Yeah. And if you're really sensitive, if your partner, if you guys were at a party together, your partner used a latex condom on somebody else and then didn't wash their penis and had with you without the latex condom on, you could still have enough latex on your penis to cause a reaction. Then that gets really tough because the woman's like, well, no, we didn't use a condom. I don't know what happened. Yeah. So that's a good point. Yeah. It could be kind of difficult to sometimes parse it out. And like I said, there's a lot of other stuff that goes down there that could potentially cause an allergic reaction. Yeah. Okay. So if somebody experiences that irritation, is there a way to treat that? Like, is there something like a, can you take allergy medicine? Can you, is there some kind of. You just don't. use the lotion or some kind of something you can put on it like there's a couple of different things that can be done I mean the the biggest recommendation is just avoid latex condoms um you know using a non-latex condom then would be preferable and there are some people that are allergic to non-latex condoms as well um you know there's condoms that are made out of all sorts of other things and even the non-latex ones some people are sensitive to it just kind of depends on your your body it's much less common to be sensitive to on latex condoms, but it's always possible. So yeah, you honestly, if it's a really bad reaction, I put patients on a steroid taper, like I'll give them a prednisone pack or pred pack, the same stuff you would take if you have a really bad sinus infection. Sometimes your doc will put you on a pred pack to get you over the symptoms. Same deal. If there's a bad reaction and I've had patients come in the day after having sex with a latex condom and they show up in my office and they're like, oh my God, something's wrong with my vagina. I take a look at it. I'm like, whoa, this looks like contact dermatitis, which is basically what an allergy looks like. I'm like, okay, what's touched your vagina in the last 24 hours? And, you know, they'll let me know. I'll actually put them on a taper. You can use steroids in the vulvan vagina. We don't do it very often for that particular indication. Usually if we're using steroids in those locations, it's for something a little bit more intense, you know, but yeah, an absolute, like a pred pack can be, can be used, but really just avoidance of the, of the allergen. Yeah, because I know we have a really good friend that has a latex allergy. And if in group settings, like if we're having an orgy and she does a very good job, like she brings her own condom, she communicates it. But I do get sometimes in like an orgy setting, a guy will forget or even with the best intentions, sometimes shit just happens. And it will completely derail her entire weekend. Like she is on fire. So I guess for somebody that like that, could you almost do like have the treatment yeah have the treatment so that way if something was like that if you know you've been exposed you can immediately start taking them to kind of because like i'm thinking like what if you're on like a bliss cruise or gone to hito or something you know especially if you spent like a lot of money and then night one somebody accidentally you know or your husband forgets to wash or whatever i mean that could completely derail your entire vacation oh yeah absolutely um my patients that are in the lifestyle that have latex And honestly, like anything else, if I've got a patient who's going on a bliss cruise, I prescribe them some yeast medication. I give them a prednisone. Yeah. I give them doxycycline to prevent the STDs. I mean, you're going on a lifestyle cruise and you come to my office, you will get all of the things. Yeah. Which I mean, I do get that not people should feel because I know what people are going to say. Well, I don't feel comfortable telling my doctor that. But if you don't, you should find somebody that does or find a way to get the medicine. So that way you can have them. because I kind of do the same thing. I don't have a latex allergy, but I'm, you know, I can get UTIs or a yeast infection pretty easy. So I just travel with that medicine. So that way, like the moment I feel a symptom, I don't, you know, I don't skip a beat. We are immediately treating it. So that way I can still have fun and enjoy myself and not, you know, not get super sick. Yeah. And that's the best way to do it. I mean, I always joke around that there's three people you shouldn't lie to, your therapist, your lawyer, and your doctor. Yeah. It's super important to be honest with those people about all of the things because it's the last thing you want to do is, you know, fuck those things up. Yeah. If you're not, if you're not comfortable talking with your doctor about the lifestyle, you should find a doctor that you are comfortable with. Yeah. You know, there's a lot of us out there and talk to your friends, ask them, like, who do you see? Tell them about the lifestyle. How did they react? You know? Yeah. And to be honest with you, there's a lot of like, like online medical places now that it doesn't have to be a doctor in your hometown. you can do these visits with a telehealth. So it's not somebody you're going to run into in the grocery store if you're worried about living in a small town. So there's ways around. I mean, I do agree with you. You should 100% be comfortable telling your doctor. But realistically, I know what people are going to say. Not everyone's going to. So there are ways around. Even like Shameless Care, a lot of these companies that we promote here on the podcast, they all have types of e-service that can help you with these things. Yeah, absolutely. And I mean, honestly, sometimes if you really do live in a small town and you don't want to come out to your doctor, I get that. I mean, sometimes you don't have access to care that's, you know, as nonjudgmental. You just don't. You know, you can always ask for a PredPak in advance and be like, look, I have an allergy to something else, you know, that I'm afraid I'm going to get exposed to while I'm on a cruise ship. Like, hey, I don't do well when I have X, Y, or Z, or when I get exposed to X, Y, or Z, and I'm afraid I may bump into it on the cruise. Can I just, you know, can I get a steroid pack just in case and then have it on hand, you know, encourage you to lie to your doctor about that kind of stuff. But, you know, it's, it may be worth having something on hand if you're like, Hey, dude, you know, I've got an allergy and I gotta take care of this. And yet, like I said, it can be days worth of symptoms with a condom allergy. Latex specifically can cause days worth of symptoms and it's really unpleasant at baseline. And you don't, like you said, you don't want to waste an entire bliss cruise on I agree okay so uh you said uh so what are some other alternatives then to latex condom I know you said latex free and like we said we do have a close friend that is very very sensitive uh to latex and she even yeah so there's latex I don't even understand what's fully in a latex free condom but I know there's latex free condoms and then there's like lambs lambskin a lot of people use the skin brand as an alternative to like Trojan or Magnum or all those other things so that seems to be like kind of the most used one, but I think that's lambskin, isn't it? I don't think skins is lambskin, but I know they're all lambskin. I'm actually looking it up right now because I'm not actually sure what's in it. I think it's a non-latex, yeah, polyisoprene is what's in it. It's a synthetic polyisoprene, which is a really low potential for allergy. Okay. So would you say is that probably? No animal-based derivatives, vegan-friendly. because that's, I guess, more gentle on her body. Friends that, like, their dicks are so big they can't use Magnum and they have to order, like, special condoms from, like, overseas. I mean, there's no telling what's in a lot of these things. I mean, I think a lot of people use the traditional ones that you can get, like, at the grocery store or gas station and stuff, but there's definitely all types of condoms out there. Yeah, there's some really interesting ones that can be ordered from other countries. Yeah. I know there's one brand out of Australia that I've seen before. It looks like a plastic bag. It's just bizarre, but it performs to the penis. It's yeah, I look it up really quick. So find the name of it. While you're looking that up, I guess my advice for somebody, obviously I don't have an allergy, but if you are a female or even the husband of a female who has, I guess males could, I'm assuming males could also have this allergy. You need to bring your own condoms. You don't need to rely on other people. And if you're especially in an orgy setting, you're just going to have to pause in between new partners and make sure that they're using one of yours would be my best advice as somebody that doesn't have an allergy that it's just been in a lot of orgies. Yeah, bring it with you, have multiple sizes. Yeah. Yeah. And the point you brought up that is something I never really thought about was the, you know, if somebody wears a latex condom, and I guess it would most likely be her husband or her and then takes that off and then comes back and has sex with her that is still potentially an exposure um so like you said you know taking time to rinse off in between which is really what every guy should be doing anyway i love it when dan rinses off i actually do not like the way that skin condoms taste like if a guy like if dan's been fucking a girl and takes the condom off and then it comes to me to like let's say you need help getting hard or we're just you know engaging it tastes like it tastes weird like i don't know what it is about the skin one so So he always washes in between. And that's kind of something that we've probably started doing over the years. And I really think it's like a best practice. Yeah. And it is a good idea. Honestly, I think condoms have a weird flavor, too. I don't like any condom. I haven't ever found a condom that I couldn't taste on a penis afterwards unless they put like, you know, either washed off or something like that. But yeah, I don't like the taste of them either. He's like, you know. Plastic. Yeah. And then there are all these like flavored condoms and stuff that are meant for like oral sex. But again, now you're adding those in your vagina. Holy hell, please. That's what I was just thinking is, you know, I think some of those are probably marketed to be used for both oral and intercourse sex. But that can't be there can't there's got to be chemicals on there that are not going in your vagina friend that her work changed the toilet paper and the new toilet paper that they bought. it had like a lavender scent to it. And she was allergic to that. What you know, whatever the lavender that was in the toilet paper and took her forever to figure out what it was because she was like, I'm not, I'm not using anything. I'm not changed anything. So like, any kind of smells, scents, we're like strictly dial soap people on the vagina and the penis. Like, that's kind of like our gold dial soap is what we stick to. And honestly, since I've, we've switched to that, I've noticed a decrease And like any kind of like infection, BV, yeast, you name it, you know, we've noticed a decrease in it personally. Yeah, definitely. I mean, I don't recommend soap on the vulva or vagina at all. I don't use any type of soap on my vulva or vagina. I have a microfiber washcloth that I use for my vulva and that's, it's the only place it goes is just on the vulva. It, you know, removes bacteria without adding any type of chemical from a soap even. A lot of people's soap is, really difficult on the vulva and vagina. Even the good stuff, you know. Dove is another one that's got like a highly sensitive soap and most people do fine with it, but I don't put soap anywhere near any of that. If a guy is rinsing off in between and they use soap on their penis, it's fine. You should make sure it's rinsed really well. Good to know. Yeah. Yeah, we keep that gold scent-free soap. It goes with us to every party that we go to. Yeah, it's a good thing to like wash off in between. And honestly, I see that a lot of times with group sex, that the guys are just going from woman to woman to woman and just shopping with condoms, which is okay, but not preferable. Yeah. And I mean, I do think that there are settings where it kind of has to be that way. Like if you're in a club and there's not a shower or a bathroom nearby, but so there, there are times when that happens, but if you can get to about, if you're in a hotel room and there's a shower or like on bliss cruise in the, um, solarium, there's usually showers, you know, if you can get to one, I definitely recommend it. or even just to a sink where you can just like splash off with some water yeah and like promessant makes us like before and after wives a lot of people bring wipes and stuff so whatever you can do to kind of help with that i think it's ideal yeah even baby wipes baby wipes are pretty yeah we try to get the ph balanced ones that it's better than nothing so what other kind of allergies do you see in the lifestyle so i guess lube would probably be the next most common one yeah yes Yes, lubricant. What is it in lube that's irritating people? Well, it depends on which lubricant you're using. A lot of the lubricants have all sorts of additives in them and it's to make them more slick or it's to make them smell or taste better. Anything that says it smells good or tastes good, avoid putting that inside your vagina because that's likely to have the sensitivity to it. Even just like straight up regular water-based lubricants, because it's not just water, there's something slick in there. It depends on what it is that they put in. to make it that way, you can have an allergy to that stuff. Usually what I recommend really is, is silicone-based lubricants, especially without additives in them. So like Uber Lube is my favorite. I get it, as we say, I get it shipped to the office. All it has in it is silicone and vitamin E as it, and vitamin E cannot, you can't be allergic to it because your body requires it as an absolute requirement for bodily function. So yeah, vitamin E is actually a very nice natural vaginal moisturizer at baseline. And then silicone, like I said, before is too large of a molecule for your body to absorb so it's medically inert so what about coconut oil i know a lot of people use that i don't particularly care for it in my vagina but i do know that it's it's something that i see people use i do not recommend it um yeah the american congress of obstetricians and gynecologists doesn't recommend it i was i went to a lecture one time they're like coconut oil belongs on salads not in vaginas um yeah the biggest problem with coconut oil is actually that it's got sugar in it There's natural sugar in coconut oil, you know, and it'll say there's no sugars in it, but it's lying because coconut is a fruit. And even when you extract the oil and you try and pull as much sugar out as you can, putting oil up inside the vagina can cause problems, especially with like yeast and BV. So you put sugar inside the vagina, then you provide an environment that bacteria and yeast likes to grow in. So not preferable. I know people are like, well, but it's natural. Yeah. So is cocaine. Not a great thing. Do a lot of people have issues with aloe vera? That's another one I do like. I do like the aloe vera, but I'm not very, I'm not super sensitive. So stuff like that doesn't bother me. Aloe vera is actually a pretty good one. Aloe vera is uncommon to be allergic to highly uncommon. Is it possible? Yes. Again, you can always have some people that are allergic to it, but yeah, aloe vera based lubricants are not necessarily bad either. It's another good kind of like oil already slick at baseline lubricant. So yeah, that one, the other brand that I like, it's a water-based lubricant is good, clean love. I'm very hypoallergenic. Yeah, it comes in a little green container hypoallergenic. My complaint about it is, you know, being a little bit older, old fart over here, the it absorbs really fast. It's like silicone is because it doesn't absorb into the vagina because it's too big to do so. So like a couple squirts of Uber lube and you're good for an entire few hours. Honestly, Uber lube is my favorite. It's a little pricey. But when I see somebody like pull out their bottle of Uber lube, I'm like, okay, yeah, they're, they're serious. They're, they've all the good stuff. I think the two biggest ones we see in the lifestyle is the promescent aloe vera lube and then uber lube are probably the two yeah um which is you know nice because I think again it's so funny that you think back prior to the lifestyle you know if we were buying lube it was probably like KY lube from which is funny because not long ago we went somewhere and Dan left like all of his stuff we had to go buy condoms and lube and we were like I had to go to the grocery store and so we got it from there we had to get like KY we were like oh this sucks so I mean it worked it worked in a But yeah, we definitely get used to the good stuff. It's hard to go back. Yeah, it is. I mean, it's like going from really nice shoes to like, um, this is going to cause blisters, right? Yeah, it's funny. Yeah, it's if anything, I think it's what I've learned is like, there is such thing as like bougie condoms and bougie lube. It's wondering about Uber lube. It's UBER and they sell it in a lot of the like nicer sex stores. I know like Secrets has it in theirs. They have a website. you can get it there it comes in a glass bottle which i kind of like that's fine if you're like fucking at home next to your bed but when you're traveling i kind of wish they had like a plastic one for travel they do have like they have sample yeah they do have some small some packets and smaller stuff but uh and it is a little bit pricey but it's definitely definitely good yeah next time we're on a cruise or something together remind me to bring some uber lube because they send me samples to my office every month. Oh, it's lovely. Yeah. They sent us some years ago. 5,000 gallons of Uber Lube. Oh, that's good to know. Yeah. When we first started on like TikTok and stuff, they sent us like a, like a PR package, but somehow we, we haven't gotten back on that list. We need to, cause we love it. And we also love Hermescent. We kind of use the two interchangeably, but they're very good. Yeah. I mean, honestly, if you're going to, if you're going to have an issue with a lubricant, those are two of the ones that you're least likely to react to so yeah those are both good brands and like i said good clean love is another one that i like for water-based if you're going water-based yeah promescent sends us the samples so we should pass those out at the single use which is kind of nice for an orgy or something like that we can just we tend to like when we get the swag bags and stuff from like all these parties we there's always samples in it and we save those and that's a lot of times what we bring to the playrooms just because they're easier you just grab a sample but my playroom bag is like a fanny So trying to put a whole bottle of lube in there is a little too much, but little sample packs fit in there nicely. Yeah. Yeah. I've kind of gotten to the point where I just take a bottle of lube every time I go to somebody new's house and just leave it there. Well, you know, if you, if you're on the PR list and you get a bunch of stuff, you can do that. Yeah. Not on the PR list. I'm just, you know, I'm a gynecologist who specializes in sex and I give it out to my patients. I love that. I'm sure they would be absolutely thrilled to know that I also talk about it on podcasts. I agree. And part of being a responsible swinger is getting tested on a regular basis. Yeah. Now, something I didn't know is not all STI, STD testing is the same. That is correct. Not every family doctor fully understands how you should be getting tested. That is correct. What one doctor thinks is a full panel, another doctor may have a completely different version of that. And being somebody in the lifestyle and engaging with multiple partners, What you should be getting tested for is probably, if you're not telling your doctor that, what you should be getting tested for is probably different than what they're thinking in their head. Yeah, because they don't know your lifestyle. Or even if they do know your lifestyle, there's a, like, for instance, there is a new one called Imgen. And we just recently met a doctor at a lifestyle party and said that she had never even heard about it. And so she was awesome that we had educated her on that. So a lot of these doctors don't, they don't know it all. Right. So if you are going to participate in the lifestyle, you probably need to get tested from people that are meant to do this. Yes. So we use I Know My Status. It's the same people behind Talent Testing. It's a company that tests all the porn stars. So they're used to testing people that engage with multiple partners. They know all the latest on what STIs are coming up and spreading. And they track all the stats. I mean, they know how to test. people for STIs. They're the experts. They are. And if someone that you engage with, you know, if they have used I Know My Status, they can actually give you a QR code and you can scan it and you can see their results right on your phone so you can confirm everything that they're telling you. Yeah, 100%. So please, if you're getting tested, get tested the right way. We recommend using I Know My Status. You can go to theswingnation.info, recommended apps and products, scroll down to the I Know My Status icon, and you You can get a discount off your first test. But please, if you're being, if you're swinging, if you're engaging with people in the community, please be safe about it. Go get tested. Yeah, because we want you to fuck like a porn star. For sure. All right, guys, welcome back. Welcome back. Thank you for listening to our sponsors. We love our sponsors. We do. Okay, so before the break, we said we're going to talk about some allergies that are not as common. and a little dirtier. And so one thing that does exist, there is such thing, is a cum allergy. So tell us about cum allergies, Dr. Storr. It sounds kind of terrible, actually. Lacey probably wants it. Going into the commercial, I'm like, maybe that's what I should tell people from now on. I'm allergic. I can't put your cum on me because I hate it. It's gross. I don't want it on me. I got my first facial the other day. Oh, wow. Yeah. I've never had anybody come in my face before until just the other day. Yeah. Definitely unexpected. Well, I mean, it wasn't unexpected because he told me he wanted to give me one and I was like, okay. Are you, do you not like it? Is that why it was your first or you just, nobody had ever asked to come on my face before you would think in five years of the lifestyle, somebody would have said, Hey, I want to come on. Not even, not even your husband. No, that's just not his thing. I'm assuming. I guess not. I mean, no, Regan's got other fun things that Dan asked me like daily. I'm like never had any interest I guess in coming on my face and of all of the men that I've ever slept with it may be because of the breeding kink I want them to come inside of me so that yeah it usually winds up just going elsewhere yeah I don't know it's kind of funny it was definitely an interesting experience but yes um semen allergies are a thing yeah it's it's uncommon and it is actually typically partner specific So you can't just say I'm allergic to cum because you're probably only allergic to that person's cum. Yeah. It does seem to be a partner specific thing. It's probably something very specific to that person's natural makeup. And you have an allergic reaction to something about their, their semen. Yeah. We don't know if there's like genetic issues or what associated with it, but the time it really becomes a problem is when people are trying to get pregnant. And that's usually when we find these things. Cause a lot of women would be like, yeah, you know, I, we've been having sex with a condom or they, you know, they're, they're finally having sex without a condom with a partner that they've been with for a while or whatever. And they're like, Hey, you know, I'm starting to like get itchy every time we have sex. And when they say they don't wear a condom, then I start getting a little bit more worried. I'm like, okay, are we getting yeast infections or me from it? Or it usually semen allergies are legit allergic reactions. They act very much like latex allergies. Sometimes people can actually have anaphylaxis, like, like peanut allergy type. reactions. It can be intense. Um, you could probably go back. I'm sure there has been a semen allergy somewhere on sex put me in the ER. Um, yeah, I have seen like really bad, really bad reactions to semen allergies. The biggest problem, like I said, is really when people are trying to get pregnant, because how do you get pregnant if you can't put cum in your vagina, you know, and there are ways to do that. Usually it winds up with IDF, but, um, using a condom is actually the, a number one thing to do to avoid getting, um, semen on you. But if you do get semen on you from whoever it is that you're allergic to, then it's, yeah, it's a pred pack. It's steroids because those reactions are violent. You know, that's funny because like when Dan and I first started dating, I was always like, maybe we're like, I'm allergic to you because it felt like every time we would have like a lot of sex is we've lived eight hours apart. So we would go like a week or two without any sex. And then we come together and we'd have like a ton of sex. I would always in like a UTI. And that was a joke that like, I was allergic to him or something. Obviously, I'm not because he comes to me all the time now and I don't have that issue anymore. So it kind of can present itself like a UTI sort of? No, usually it's not like a UTI present. Usually it's more like a latex allergy, like their entire vagina is on fire. And like I said, sometimes we have patients, especially because they tend to be a little bit more violent reactions, patients will be like short of breath, tongue swelling, like full on anaphylaxis, breakout head to toe. So it's, yeah, it can be pretty impressive. I wonder if anybody's ever died from that. I'm sure there have. That would be crazy. I don't know. I mean, why is that impressive? No, I'm not. No, I said it'd be crazy. I didn't say it'd be impressive. Yeah, it'd be actually really sad. Especially like if they were just trying to have a baby and they're like a loving couple, you know. Right. Imagine you have some random like Tinder hookup and it comes inside on you or in you and you have an allergic reaction. So if they come on you and you're allergic to it, is that, I'm assuming that's a far less reaction just because it's like on the skin and not inside of you. Yeah, kind of like the latex. It doesn't seem to cause quite as bad of a reaction, but it can. If they come inside your mouth, that can cause just as violent a reaction as inside of your vagina. Could you imagine your throat? That would probably be really, that'd probably be really rough. Yeah. Well, your throat can swell up and shut. I mean, if you have semen inside your mouth that you're allergic to. Yeah. Again, semen allergies are really uncommon, thank God. But when you have one, usually people figure it out fairly quickly. whichever partner it is and then you know we deal with it we you know give them steroids to keep on hand is there like you said it's individual so is it like diet related or just dna related or i think it's dna related um there's actually not just a ton of data on it but we think it's actually probably dna related something specific to the actual sperm and the makeup of the patients um or the person's semen so if somebody has had that type of reaction before, if I'm hearing you right, it's not that they're allergic to everybody's come. It's more likely they were just allergic to that person's come. It's most likely just that person's, yeah. Wow. Or maybe their brothers. Sorry. Did you hear what Lacey said? That's cute. It might be. I mean, I would say. It's DNA. They might share something. I mean, not that I have a brother fantasy or anything like that. Not at all. All the brothers are going to start messaging us now. Yeah. Again, we think it's something to do very specifically with that. I was actually just looking up to see if there's like any cases of people having died from it. And I can't find anything at this point, but it's, they think it's a specific immune response to proteins in the semen, which would be person to person specific. Yeah. Interesting. So yeah, I know I've had patients in my that had never had a semen allergy until their current husband and then it was like yeah that makes sense yeah all right any other allergies that you can think of that people should be aware of um somebody okay this is going to sound like it could be sex related yeah perfumes and lotions are common allergies so um you know if somebody if some guy's got lotion on his hands and he put his fingers inside your vagina or if a woman's got you know perfume on and she goes down on another woman and the Perfume is like anywhere near her face or her neck that can cause an allergic reaction as well so you know I usually recommend just avoiding anything that you know that has a lot of chemical in it around either your face your vagina or your on your hands if you're going to be going to a party if you want to like do some body spray to see you smell good that's fine just don't put it on your vulva and on your hands it's like a good idea just to rinse off that's kind of like obviously when you go to a club that's different but like for the most part if we're at something in there like we can run to our room and shower, we tend to do that. It's all takeovers, bliss cruise, you know, secrets. Usually before you go to an ology, you want to go take a shower and rinse off. And I've always thought, well, that's just good hygiene because I want to not smell like sweat. But it sounds like it could be a good idea because. Do usually spray body spray on me, but I don't usually like put a whole bunch of lotions or anything like that. But that's really good to know. And even if someone's not allergic to it, they can still be very sensitive to it because I, I'm pretty sensitive to I don't like a whole lot of anything so I if some guy walked in with a whole bunch of cologne or a whole bunch of aftershave that that would probably like irritate me like my eyes and stuff even if I'm not actually allergic to it yep and that's one of the things that I think a lot of people maybe mistake you know they're going for group sex and like oh I need to smell good and they just yeah body spray or kind of smelling lotion on and then those of us in the room that are sensitive to smells or sensitive to the chemicals in those things if sweaty bodies were up against each other. Maybe just like some deodorant and like a little spray, like. Yeah. One, one little, one little spray. Yeah. Just generally go on the low end. And a lot of people become nose blind to the sense that they wear fairly often. So they smell it as well. And so they put extra on thinking that they can't smell it, but everybody else can. So, you know, less, less is more. I just tend to avoid all of that stuff because I'm kind of like you is super sensitive to, to smell. Yeah, I am. Which I'm probably pretty guilty of that. Because, like, anytime I go to the room, if I, like, let's say, where I hotel takeover and I'll run to my room to use the restroom, I will put more deodorant on. I will spray more spray. So, that's good to know and probably to be a little bit more considerate about. Because that's not something, I guess I just, like, I don't want to smell. So, I want to smell extra, extra good. So, that's good to know. Yeah. And, I mean, I think that's what a lot of people are like, too. But, I mean, like, for me, I can't even go into Sephora because within seconds I'll have a headache. Yeah, yeah. Too much smell. Too many. I have a hard time to. Yeah. Bath and body works. All those places. Oh God. Yeah. Avoid like a plague just because of that. And I mean, honestly, even the deodorant I use, it's aluminum alum. That's it. I doesn't like, it's not a normal deodorant. I use the crystal deodorants because I don't like the odor of deodorant on myself. And oddly enough with the, um, the crystal deodorant, I never have any body odor at all. Yeah. It's, and it's hypoallergenic again. I'm not like, um, I don't have an allergy to latex despite being in the medical field. Surprisingly. Um, when I have an allergy, is the powder inside the latex gloves. So, um, I can't get the powdered gloves anymore and I can't use them in the operating room, but the actual latex itself I'm fine with, but I'm, I'm uber sensitive to smell. Yeah. Yeah. It's definitely, definitely a thing. Yeah. Okay. Okay. So another thing when we talked on the, this morning, we were texting back and forth, something you said that you've been getting asked. Cause we knew this wasn't going to probably take a full hour. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Something else that you said you've been getting asked a lot about here recently is vaginal dryness. It's something that you said that has been coming up repeatedly, either in your office or just people on Discord and stuff messaging you asking about. So in this last 20 minutes, you want to talk a little bit about that? Yeah, sure. Honestly, vaginal dryness has been a huge topic. I think it's maybe partially because to some extent my patient population is aging. A lot of them are around my age, like mid-40s, early 50s. and the like perimenopausal dryness is just getting to be a great frustration. Um, but there's lots of things that can cause vaginal dryness. We're talking like lots of things, everything from, uh, sexual versions due to stuff like history of sexual trauma or sexual pain. You know, patients are like, you know, I, I used to be able to get turned on and I can't anymore, but sex has been hurting. And I'm like, well, that's, that makes sense. Um, but even just like naturally dry vagina, even in young patients, it happens. Um, I started I've been seeing fairly recently repetitive BV and yeast infections causing a lot of dryness and I think it's probably in some of the literature at least hints to this when you're having chronic BV and yeast especially if you're tossing back and forth the antibiotics and antifungal medications that we're having to use to treat the infections and overgrowths and whatnot tend to cause vaginal dryness because we never get your pH back to normal and so you keep you know bopping back and forth between the pH being too high and too low, and it never just kind of resets. So there's a couple of things for that. One of my favorite treatments for vaginal dryness that's related to repetitive BV and yeast is boric acid suppositories. I can't remember if we've ever talked about those before, have we? We've definitely talked about boric acid. I don't know about suppositories before. We've like had a discussion here. I mean, I know what they are. I know a lot of people in the lifestyle, but I think it's definitely worth mentioning because if I didn't know about those, until I got into the lifestyle. So if someone is just joining or thinking about joining, I think this is a really good conversation to have. Yeah. Boric acid is the perfect pH for the vagina. So if your pH is off, like you're just at the beginning of a yeast infection, or you've been having a lot of sex because, um, again, vaginal reactions to things like condoms and semen and whatnot, semen is not the right pH for vaginas. Um, and also actually at the time of your period, blood's not great for your vagina either. it has to come out somewhere and that's where it comes out. But the pH of blood is much more acidic than your natural pH of your vagina is supposed to be. Boric acid suppositories are like the perfect pH for the vagina. And I love them. Most of my patients that are lifestyle and even a lot of my non-lifestyle patients that struggle with vaginal dryness, I'm like, you need to be using some boric acid suppositories. Usually what I recommend is anytime that you start having symptoms, use them three nights in a row. by mouth. Don't put them in your mouth. Put them in your vagina. Yeah. Like when you go to sleep is typically when people do them, correct? Yeah. Right before bedtime. Um, the capsule that they're in dissolves fairly quickly because it's water, um, soluble. And then the, the powder that's inside of it absorbs very quickly into the vagina. And it just kind of helps reset the vaginal pH to minimize the chance of overgrowth of stuff that you don't want in there. Um, and the way it helps with the vaginal moisture is really because resetting the pH puts your vagina in a place where the moisture is. So just like, you know, your salivary glands in your mouth, the sides of the vagina literally sweat. And that is what natural lubrication is. It's vagina sweat. So if you're dehydrated, you can't sweat. So making sure that you're drinking lots of fluids. I mean, my husband goes through gallons and gallons and gallons of water on the bliss cruise. He literally is constant drinking water, you know, and he still gets dehydrated. So, you know, lots of hydration. We should do better. We could do a lot. I know a lot of girls will do it like, so they squirt more. like use electrolytes. But honestly, we should do it just so like our pajamas can keep up. Yeah. So going back then to the boric acid. So can you use it too much? So if you're going on something like a bliss cruise, like you'd be using it just every day. Yeah, you can use it daily, like leading up to the bliss cruise, or I wouldn't necessarily use it leading up to the bliss cruise, probably not necessary, unless you feel like maybe you're about to get BV or you're starting a yeast infection or something. But yeah, you can use it daily for a while. I wouldn't use it daily. All the time, because eventually it may start causing some irritation as well. But yeah, the usually might, like I said, my patients that struggle with recurrent BV or yeast and like three, you know, three nights in a row for any time that you feel it. And then just at least once or twice a week, period. Yeah. Monday and Thursday. And you can buy it like at CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Amazon, like it's very readily available. So like you could be like at Secrets and run to CVS and get some or, or again, like I usually bring mine with me when I know I'm going to be at somewhere quite a lot. I'm going to be honest. I don't like the way the peels feel in my vagina. I can feel them. It freaks me out. They do sell like a liquid form that you would like. It's almost like a douche bottle kind of. It's the same brand. It's boric acid and you just kind of like, I do that one instead because for some reason I can feel that peel. I'm like laying there trying to fall asleep and I can feel it and it feels, I don't know, it freaks me out. I wish that I could use the, I, It's like a texture, like a, I don't know, a sensory issue for me, but I do use the same brand. They do that liquid one. And so I do, I will use that. And I kind of do sort of the same thing. I'll, you know, like if I'm going on a bliss cruise, I'll probably do that, you know, two to three times throughout the week, like right before bed. So I go to bed with everything like really clean and good. And I start the next day fresh and it kind of, it makes, I don't know if it's doing anything, but it makes me feel good. So it is doing something. Yeah, it really does help. Yeah, they the liquid form. A lot of people don't like it as much because it's messier, but it absolutely works. Yeah, it's crazy. You can put water based lubricant on the pill to put it up inside. Yeah, I probably should do that because usually when I'm using the pill, we've been fucking all day. I'm exhausted. I'm dehydrated, you know, so like shoving that pill in my vagina and then I'm laying in the bed like the rim spinning probably and I'm like, I can feel it. that in there. But that's actually a really good idea. And I will, I have plenty of the regular, you know, ones. I'll try that next time. Yeah, the water-based lubricants, they make it go up and easier. And I mean, it's kind of like putting a dry tampon in a dry vagina. Yes, that's exactly, that's exactly how I feel. And I'm like laying there and I'm like, okay, is it gonna, you know, and then I'm like overthinking it and stuff. But the liquid ones work for me. I just, a little TMI, I just do them on the toilet. So I don't really have an issue with it making a mess. I just, I keep them next to the toilet you know do them not you know do them a couple times a week and then I'm good but like at home in normal life I don't usually do much unless I have some symptoms but yeah for sure yeah but yeah you can use it really regularly throughout you know if you're doing it on the bliss cruise you can use it daily it's not going to hurt anything for sure yeah it's definitely something that I think Lacey's taking a little while to kind of figure out what works for her body but you know it's not uncommon if you go on a bliss cruise or something like Hedo for the first time you know pools and and fingers and condoms and mouths and like it can uh you can do a quite a number on somebody if we're just talking about dryness just dryness alone by the time the end of that week after being in the ocean and like all the different waters and all i'm like she is she's done she is dry she is it's close for business you know like i need a few days to kind of just let everything reset yeah same bliss cruise that usually hits like thursday or friday and I'm like, yeah. So I think like anybody that's listening, this, that is thinking about joining the last cell or has like a big, cause like when you pay thousands of dollars to go on these, like really nice, fancy trips, the last thing you want is your vagina to not work, you know, or you have an allergy or something like this. So kind of learn from us and learn from other people, because this is how we've kind of figured out what we need to bring and what we need to have it. Even something like secrets. I can remember pulling out of secrets and being like, you have to take me to CVS right now I'm dying so like just having that stuff with you and like in a little emergency kit is has been like the biggest lifesaver for me as far as figuring all of these things out yeah and I think the second thing for you other than the boric acid thing is probably using more lubricant when you're actually have sex I think it's something that in the past we've been bad about is you know you go to a playroom and you don't bring lube with you and it's just which is fine if you're going to be there one night but if you're in there four or five times in a week Because you're on a long, by that third, fourth, you need it. So you almost have to pre-plan for the dryness that you're going to have. Yeah. And honestly, I would highly suggest, I mean, lubricant is good. Use it every time you have sex. I mean, there's some people that just naturally make lots and lots of natural lubricant, and that's great. And for those few people out there, I'm proud of you. The rest of us, I mean, Regan and I use lube every time we have sex. sex. And it's not necessarily because I need it. It just makes things easier. Yeah. And I would encourage if I'm going to get dry during sex, you know. And I would encourage ladies to like use your voice. Like even if you and your spouse don't really use a lot of lubricant in a play situation, it's okay to stop the guy and be like, hey, can you grab some lube? You know, like it's okay to do that. It's not because you're not turned on or yeah. Well, it also seems like condoms dry things out more than not using condoms. So I think it's okay. And guys, it's okay to, like, put a little on. Before you stick it. You know, yeah, just to, you know, just to be nice. Like, you'll probably have a longer, better time. That was not proper English, but you know what I mean. It'll just make it more enjoyable for everybody. Yes, for sure. Yeah, I mean, I use lubricant with Abandon. Just, you know, squirt that stuff everywhere. It's great. Okay, but sometimes you can get too much lube. Oh, well, yeah. I mean. you can't feel anything you're like yes yeah some get especially like when you're like there's a lot going on and the guys are like squirt i'm like okay too much she you know be be cautious of that better too much than not enough for sure always but i'm just saying i would always hedge on the side of yeah more lube than less but yeah i know i mean you don't also want to only be able to feel the lubricant and be like i don't know where the penis went it's just slippery yeah that's not fun either it's not yeah okay Yeah, other stuff for dry vagina around perimenopause, obviously, ask your doctor if you are a candidate for some type of vaginal, either estrogen, pre-estrogen, or there's even like over-the-counters. There's a couple of different DHEA suppositories that can be used. Yeah, there's all sorts of fun stuff out there. I wish I could think there was a brand that we had and they sell these suppositories that are made for like to lube the vagina like you put it in and it keeps your vagina like lubed over at 24 hours they sell it at like Ulta they sell it at CVS what's the name of it oh it's gonna drive me crazy but it actually was very nice I actually really enjoyed it it just kind of made it it just made everything a little bit more moisturized you know and so there definitely are things over the counter that you can, you can find. I think one of the best ones you can buy, there's two different strengths of it. It's called JULVA, J-U-L-V-A. Yeah. It was actually created by a gynecologist. She's fantastic. Dr. Kabeca. She, yeah. So it's DHEA, which is a precursor for testosterone and estrogen with a couple of natural moisturizers. Oddly enough, the slippery part of coconut oil is in there without any of the sugar in it. So there's, you know, there's several different things inside of it, But it is fantastic for vulva and vagina. It actually has been shown to reduce UTIs and that kind of stuff in patients. So that one's a nice one just to, you know, it's kind of like the consistency of hand lotion. You just put it on the vulva, you know, once or twice a day, small pea-sized amount, great vaginal vulvar moisturizer. There's two different strengths of it, the over-the-counter strength, and then the higher dose strength you can only get in doctor's offices, but it has four times the amount of DHVA in it, so it works better. And then there's actually a suppository that's prescription. It's DHEA. It's called Intrarosa. It's not back box warning for patients with a history of cancer, like breast cancer or uterine cancer. So it's one of the ones that we use fairly often in patients with a history of a hormone sensitive cancer. So that one, that one's quite safe. But then, yeah, actually, even just vaginal estrogen is uber helpful in patients, especially that are peri and postmenopausal that are getting vaginal dryness because of a lack of estrogen. Vaginas are very greedy for estrogen. You put something with estrogen in the vagina, it will absorb it into the vagina and keep it there. Almost none of it gets into the bloodstream. The brand I was talking about is called Foria, F-O-R-I-A. Yeah, Foria. That's another one. Okay. Yeah. And so it's the Intimacy Melts and they actually have CBD in them. They have ones with CBD. Yeah. Yeah. And you just put it in and it just helps things stay moisturized. I used them. The last time I used them was like Adhido. that like there was just going to be a lot going on. So I actually really enjoyed them. And it looks like they even have like relief melts. I'm just on Sephora. I'm not for Ulta's websites. So that's kind of cool. It's relief. Oh, yeah, from menstrual pelvic discomfort. They've got like a whole line. They've got some lubes and all kinds of stuff. But I really did like those those melts for like times when you know you're going to be like super active and have a lot going on down there. Yeah, they've got all sorts of interesting stuff. for you. It's actually, it's a fairly good company. I haven't picked through the actual stuff that's in their products recently. Yeah. Go back and look and make sure most of it's okay. But it is a brand. I know that some of my friends that are gynecologists also recommend. So it's probably pretty legit. Yeah, we tried it. And then I just happened to be in Ulta one day. And I was like, that's really cool that like Ulta selling something like that. You could just go pick it up, read the labels. You don't have to order it. So I thought that was good. And that it's F-O-R-I-A if anybody wants to like look that up. Okay, all right.
