Update 6.9.16

Dear Members,

We’ve been working on an update to address the issue with the profiles being periodically removed from the Who Viewed Me list.

The update has been applied and we believe it should resolve this issue for most members.

If you were affected (your Views list was previously automatically reset) and currently have the Who Viewed Me feature enabled, the following should happen:

- Previous views which were removed from your list should be restored (this data is being backed up during the Preview period in case of accidental deletion).

- Views should no longer be automatically reset / removed throughout the day.

Please post here if you continue to experience this or any other issues with the Who Viewed Me feature - CustomerService and TechSupport will not be able to provide assistance during this Preview.

*** Note:

The initial post and the FAQ and Answers post have answers to many of the questions already asked about this feature. Please read them before asking a question which has already being answered.

Thank you,

--- FAQ and Answers ---

1. Does the Flyover (hovering over a profile) count as a View?
Answer: No

2. If I Disable Views, will other members still see that I viewed their profiles in the past?
Answer: Yes. Your profile is not deleted from other member's Views list if you disable the Views feature. However, new visits to profiles are not recorded / displayed while the Who Viewed Me feature is disabled.

3. How can I Opt out / Disable Views?
Answer: Views can be Disabled and Re-Enabled by clicking the Settings (Gear) icon at the top right of the Who Viewed Me section.

4. How can I increase my profile Views?
Answer: The Better Profiles forum has a wealth of great ideas from other members on how to improve profiles to make them (and you) more interesting to members. Check it out.

5. If I view a profile 100 times during a 7 day period, how many times will my profile be listed on their Views list?
Answer: 1. Repeated views from the same profile over a 7 day period will show only the original view on the list.

6. What's the default order for profiles listed?
Answer: On the Home and View More pages, profiles are listed in the order (most recent views with profile pics first). The View More page will also include an option to sort / view profiles by the most recent whether or not the profile has a picture as well as by distance when it's completed.

Thank you for your continued support.
We like it but what about a flirt or wink button? I think people would like that and open up the lines of communication faster then writing a short book to someone you're interested in. Thanks Chrissy & Damien

Thank you for this new feature. Excellent.. Maybe a feature to see more information about the viewer and a date & time stamp would be helpful. I think redundant postings of viewers may be unnecessary if you could see multiple times viewed on a date& time stamp. Maybe a poke, wink, level of interest feature be good in con junction with this feature...

rNs, I'm glad you mentioned the flyover not working. I haven't really paid attention one way orvthe other to the "viewed me" thing, but my flyover stopped working too, and I thought it was maybe just something I'd done.

Needed a long time ago ..but where is it

Great feature!
Would be nice to have a date stamp?

Dang, it look like I forgot one, so this is Part 5:

 • Allow someone to post a wink/nod/hello flag that appears on your profile to indicate to others that you have seen their profile, and found them to be "interesting" to you.

Yes, this is more passive that writing them an email outright. But for someone who may be hesitant/shy/unsure to write an email, it does drop the hint that there is some type of interest there.

To all the really hot folks that are already getting flooded with emails already, if you are finding that "everyone" is setting this indicator to you, just ignore it and move on. Who knows, you may run across someone that you find interesting, and for whatever reason they preferred to set the wink/nod/hello indicator rather than contributing to your heavy load of emails. Given the somewhat balky email system, maybe you missed the one good email buried in many of the bad. I have seen people (esp. the unicorns) complain that they simply stop reading emails once they become weary of it, and may never get around to reading the really old ones.

Part 4: (and last part :)

 • I don't know if this is still true, but once pictures are uploaded to one type of gallery, they cannot be moved to another gallery? This results in having to re-upload pictures already stored on the server (and wait yet again for new picture approval process to approve the same picture again) just to be able to move them from one gallery to another. If approval of the picture is related to the gallery type, at least pictures should be able to move in one direction (Public --> Private --> Personal) even if the reverse is not true (like moving an existing approved X-Rated pic from a personal gallery to the public gallery). Allowing better picture management would help reduce the workload of picture approvals overall, and thus reduce the delay to approving the new pictures. Moving the existing picture "against the stream" should still be possible, even if it triggers a new approval cycle.

Another annoyance is that the original source picture will also need to be located for re-upload. The source picture may not be handy, and may even be unavailable. Gallery management therefore becomes harder to do by requiring the user to always have access to their original pictures, and then re-uploading them.

 • Can individual user X disable this new feature outright, from the point of view of person X browsing profiles A, B, C? In other words, can the profiles of persons A, B, and C NOT be alerted that person X has looked at their profile? Basically, turning this off allows person X to choose to remain a "lurker", which by default we have all been up to this point.

This underscores a fundamental expectations of user interactions: Facebook allows for annonumyous browsing, while LinkedIn does not. Once rolled out, this new feature will permanently flip you from the Facebook model to the LinkedIn model, unless a user can opt out.

Thanks for the preview of this new feature.

Part 3:

 • The pick list at the top of the page for Gallery Selection is way too "busy". As it is now, you need to read each selection and manually skip the locked galleries. If a gallery is locked, why not just leave it out of the list? Then you will know that every Gallery listed will be active for selection, and not cluttered with "always dead" locked galleries.

To further summarize the Gallery choices, put two counters on the page near the picklist to show how many galleries you do and don't have access to. Something like:

Locked: 5 Unlocked: 2 <<<Select the Unlocked Gallery to View>>> [More Pics Avail Flag]

In this example the pick list will only show the two unlocked galleries. This format does three things.

First, it tells you if there are more galleries available beyond the default one automatically displayed. Every additional listed gallery WILL open a new set of pictures. I do like how the existing count (#) is displayed to indicate the sizes of each gallery. The [More Pics Avail Flag] should only show up if the unlocked gallery count is greater than 1. If only 1 gallery is unlocked, I assume that will be shown by default (will an unlocked private or personal gallery be shown if the public gallery is empty, or locked?). If this in not true, then the [More Pics Avail Flag] should be set anytime the pick list quanity equaly 2 or more items. If the "Unlocked Gallery" count equals one, I'm assuming that gallery will be display by default?

Second, it keeps you from having to constantly click on the pick list just to see if there are more unlocked galleries available. Unlocked galleries will probably be missed as long as that information normally hides in the control, or is visually stuck in a longer list of Locked galleries. This is another example of annoying controls for long term use, as it constantly demands to be fiddled with, even when the result more often than not will NOT produce any useful results (given that locked galleries will always far outnumber the unlocked galleries in general).

Third, if the locked gallery count is zero, then you already know you have full access to everything. If the count is greater then zero, you know how that you can still ask for the additional access. Seeing the detailed list of locked gallery entries is not a useful reinforcement of something that is expected for nearly every profile to be viewed. When the change was made awhile back to hide the title of locked galleries, you removed the only hint of what those locked gallery might contain. From the view point of the person browsing profiles, do I really care if the locked galley is public/private/personal? It is either locked, or unlocked. The categories can remain for the user to management their pictures, but for others viewing the profile will the locked gallery ever matter?

Part 2:

 • Can a button be added to the flyover display to allow the profile to also be opened into a separate tab? The flyover is great for reviewing many profiles without spawning a huge number of tabbed windows, but this extra button would allow profiles of interest be temporarily "saved" in a new tab for the "Honey come look..." later review.
 • Can a search option be provided to see if a specific user has viewed your profile? Yes, you can sort by name, but then you probably need to wade through multiple pages looking for the correct section of the alphabet. As a group moderator, my list of people views is already rather large since it is common for people to check out a group's moderator profile while exploring that group.
 • Can a flag be added to the standard profile to indicate this person has viewed you, in case you found the profile on a different part of the website (in groups, forums, home page suggestions, etc.). A yes/no flag would be less helpful (ie: last viewed 2 years ago would still be a positive view) where as the days since last viewed would help show the level of interest. If it is just a simple flag, allow the viewed user to clear it so they can look for the flag staying cleared or getting set again in the future.
 • Can a simple on/off flag be provided to indicate if the user being viewed has unlocked more than the default gallery shown when the profile first opens. A bright icon to reinforce the availability of multiple galleries to view. See the [More Pics Avail Flag] as it relates to the pick list discussion.

I wrote the following before I saw the STICK POSTS from SLSQuality. Given the late hour, I'm not up to reediting the comments, so some of the points may no longer apply.

Furthermore, it's too long to post as a single comment, so I'm going to break it into smaller pieces.

 • - -

Part 1:

Then the forum would refuse to post the comment. I don't know if it is too long, or the same problem that is causing me to have intermittent logon issues ( <-- Go Back and Try Again <OR> Return to Home Page <OR> Start New Session ). So I'm going to try the email route.

 • What is the meaning of the number in the lower right corner? Is don't see how it relates to anything.
 • Can the popup window be maximized to at least use the full vertical height of a desktop monitor/browser window? For now even if the browser is in full-screen mode, there is dead space on all 4 sides. If the browser is made small (height and/or width) the contents appear to still be visible, but the elements will flow around so stuff see at the top-right side of the screen will jump to the very bottom of the scroll. Change is great, but if navigating everything becomes an endless series of swipes.

As an example of excess scrolling, the current "Search by Member Name:" is at the very bottom of the search window. As I happen to use that more than the "search by selections" at the top of the page, I'm constantly having to scroll down the page to get to the feature I find most useful. I believe this type of search once had it's own tab separate from the "Saved Search" and "Quick Search" tabs. By combining this on one page, it may have eliminated one click, but that simpler click was replaced with the harder scrolling action. That's the type of annoying UI function I'm talking about.

In the old version, multiple profiles can be left open in new tabs. In this new ("flyover" ???) version, only one profile can be view at a time, so trying to memorize interesting user names becomes much more of a task. As in, "Hey honey, come look at these 4 profiles, assuming I can find them again".

Phone keeps resetting flag to use. Then I lose history of who viewed us. Any advice?

My Who Viewed Me lost keeps resetting to nothing saying that there haven't been any new views since enabling views, even though I haven't disabled the views. This happens when using IE or iPhone. It doesn't seem to matter. It'd be a nice feature .... If it worked!

It diables it whenever i logoff on my samsung s7 edge using the chrome system

I like the addition. One thing I would add is the view date. That would really help. Thank you

I like it; it turns me on to see who has viewed me! Thank Y'all!

Chicago, IL, Us

I think it's a great addition. But I would like to leave it for those who are paid members.

Don't give good things away for free.

I don't see a problem with having this feature; this same feature is on another rival site, and it's cool to see who has looked at my profile. I've made a few more contacts as a result.

Winston Salem, NC, Us

"hardwet"..........everyone is getting excited to see who viewed them...if they were interested they would have written you.

BINGO........but oh I'm so flattered that so many people looked at my profile....LOL LOL

"I applaud the effort to expand the communicating ability of all members. I see some additional features will be added after it's rolled out - sort by visited date and by distance... very helpful. Adding the ability to "wink" or "wave" might provide a low-key and quick way to communicate also."

very good suggestion

Villa Rica, GA, Us

Well I have tried resetting the ie internet options as discussed and have tried using chrome and still same problem........... really regret upgrading for another year just to use this tool that doesn't . Really funny how well it worked...... until I upgraded.

Mystic, CT, Us

We like it. Its nice to know who looked - when.
But maybe we are just stroking our - - egos

Just because you look at a profile does not mean you want to communicate with them. This is going to create unwanted emails. We say no
