Yes, I have that happen as well. Either a page refresh or a log out and log back in will seem to fix it.

Seriously, can you not fix this messaging issue? Click on message icon and it does nothing, or just goes to list of messages already sent/received. Yes have hit the refresh button numerous times
Last night the messaging and chatrooms were working. Not sure about the profile update feature, or the service ticket feature.
Unfortunately, none of them are working this morning.
I had the same problem, but it suddenly started to work when I accepted the new Terms and Condition and Privacy policy at the top of the screen. The new Terms and Conditions says now that Free Members look at 5 profiles a day and send messages. True or just a hold over from the old Terms and Conditions?
Wtf are you talking about, this is a forum and I posted to it, totally separate issue from sending messages. So whatever you meant by nice try, you’re off base
What do you need a message for when you just responded to the issue? Nice try though.
And I’ll mention again when I filled out a support ticket (twice) it failed to be sent as well
How about our issue Wayne, can’t load pics, “unknown error” pops up after I hit download image…and still can’t message anyone, either goes to list of messages or does nothing at all, hit the refresh icon a dozen times just now and nothing…why won’t the “developers” get their act together and fix this site????

And now I can't put in a service ticket for any issues. (I was going to make one for the "unable to update profile" issue).
starting to remember why I deleted my old SLS profile a couple years ago. They switch to this hybrid IM/email system, so when it goes down there is no way to communicate with people.
I'm also unable to login to chat rooms, so I can't communicate that way, nor can I update my profile content. It just sits there when I click "finish," and none of the changes take effect. Exceedingly frustrating to have a site that is essentially useless unless you are a paid member, yet none of the functions work.
Wonder if we'll get a refund for the several days the site has basically been unusable... I won't hold my breath
Messages only opening up to our list of messages, won’t allow us to write a message…better still is clicking on the “message” icon and it does nothing, that’s the ultimate, sarcasm!
On another matter, tried downloading 2 pics into private folder yesterday and both pics indicated “unknown error” and didn’t download but support will be notified. Haven’t heard a whisper from support. So write up a support ticket and it to was rejected, as was a follow up support ticket. Love it when the site is functioning at 100%, yes more sarcasm

Also not allowing me to login to the chat rooms. When I try to, it takes me to a user login page, and then when i enter it, I just end up back at the SLS homepage
Same issue here. Seems to have less to do with the profile I'm clicking, and just the site itself. For most of the morning (I'm on the West coast) it's hasn't been working, no matter who I try to message. It will imrpove for a bit, and I can message people (new or people I've talked to before), but then it will just stop working. Very frustrating, especially since on this site the only people using messages are PAID members.
Yep, still doing it. Just went to message a new-to-us profile ... took 7 tries to get the dialogue box to open

Tried to used Messenger this a.m. , 9/25. Just keeps searching/spinning saying “Reconnecting “.
Happened to us this evening around 6 pm ET. We must have clicked the message button 10x and every time it opened to the list rather than a message to that profile. As of 10:30 pm ET tonight, it appeared to be working normally again.
This is happening to us just now also. Trying to send a first message to a new-to-us profile, but it goes to the complete message list, not to a new message template.

It's random ... some profiles are giving us the list, some actually create a new message dialog box
