Hot date issues continued II

Fresno, CA, Us

I don't mind SLS having a profit motive, in fact I think it's essential. It gives management the motivation to keep the site running.

The problem is that these changes are having a detrimental effect on the long term profitability of the site. They're obviously trying to switch over to the app, essentially to compete with apps like Tinder. So they're gambling that a combination of some percentage of the present SLS community meekly switching over to the app plus the new meat downloading the app will exceed the number of present SLS members who are pissed off enough that they migrate to another LS site.

I'm not sure what marketing guru snookered them into going this route, but when SLS's problems start becoming common talk on other LS sites, it's not an indication of marketing success. Hell, I've heard some talk on vanilla sites that I strongly suspect is referencing the unholy goat fuck that is SLS IT Development. Can't be 100% sure of course, because I suspect people are being cagey about admitting they're on a swinger site. But the talk sounds awfully familiar.

Thanks Catchy. See, that’s the kind of post I like; detailed, specific explanations of the deficiencies of the new hotdates.

Again, from my perspective, while I understand that the hotdates pages generally suck and need to be tweaked, we’ve found success where we had not with the old hotdates.

I guess my point is that, two weeks ago, if you posted a hotdate for two days from now, it was a complete waste of time. It did not work. No one would see your posting. I’ll take this, a system that works poorly, vs a system that doesn’t work at all.

Even if they shut this one down, I’m sure Hot Dates iii will follow. Poor moderation BUT also like at TSB. They have been a huge supporter of SLS and their forums are also full of hate for these upgrades that make the site less functional....

"If it ain't broke don't fix it."

eh, seems more like - If it ain't broke...FIX IT til it is!

Which pairs nicely with - The beatings (in this case, the "outages") will continue until morale improves...

I love how SLS locked the topic. This is the equivalent of taking the phone off of he hook when. you don't want o hear the complaints. There is no desire on the part of SLS management to provide a quality product or even care whether the paid members like it or not. Way to go SLS, you have proven once again that membership means nothing here.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.
The "Fixin' department" needs to go back to school.
If your "Fixin" requires more "Fixin"
then You need to be Fixed.
Just a thought.

Navigation is cludgy: If you want to look at Hot Dates for a date further out than this week you can change your settings to do that. Unfortunately, if you click on a profile to see their information, using the back button on your browser also resets everything to the default settings. That means you have to go back through the process again and again for every profile you want to click on. Could you <cntrl+rightclick> to open the profile in a new window? Yes, but that's not something everyone knows how to do, and you shouldn't have to do that. Either have the profiles open in a pop-up window, or set it up so the back button on the browser has functionality.

On a related note, "Hover" does not work in the Hot Dates area so you have to click on every single profile that MIGHT be a match in order to get the information you can get from "Hovering". That makes the first problem I described even more annoying.

Yay for working on profiles being hidden based on the viewer's stated preferences. We have single males blocked by default, but we can still see their profiles on the Hot Dates now.

The only Hot Dates hidden are those where they're only looking for single females, and that still needs to be addressed. Wives playing with a Hall Pass shouldn't have to get a second profile (and pay for it) to play as a single female. After all, Unicorns are an endangered species! They deserve an environment where their proliferation is encouraged, not stifled. Since the opposite (couples being blocked when they want a single male) is likely happening, can we just cut to the chase and abandon that "function" all together? I've yet to see someone praise that change.

Wanta3way and Sharedbbw,

I’m curious as to what, specifically, you don’t like about hotdates. Is it the defaults, the menus?

The hotdate pages clearly need improvement, but the hotdate pages I remember from 2 weeks ago simply didn’t work.

We posted a test date, and got responses almost immediately. That NEVER happened with the old hotdates.

Hot date feature is now pretty much worthless....

Looks like if management does not like what is posted they just lock the post. If they read with an open mind maybe they would understand what members want and could capitalize on it. The changes have been made, so as before we just deal with it. However in the decade I have been here it seems odd that almost all “improvements” have been anything but!

While adding the events back in to where the hot dates are is great, we are still irritated that the default distance is 50 miles ... used to be if you set it for further, that setting would stay. Also hate that hen you click on an event or hot date on a different day than what today is, and you go back, it takes you back to the beginning, not what you were on. And def hate that the timeframe function for creating was removed ... Always liked seeing before if the date was for daytime or night time ... now you gotta guess.

@3W053MV

Yep, totally agree ... I was just restating what Wayne said somewhere several days ago.

@ Hung: Yes, we know if we're posting a Hot Date we can filter who views us. We were referring to if we're viewing the Hot Dates, being able to filter whom we wanted to view. The old system had a way to filter or sync with your profile preferences.

Hung,

There have been some tweaks so far. Hopefully, they'll get around to fixing the default settings.

Hollywood, FL, Us

TomandDiane: That filter worked for me as I was able to select who I wanted to view my post !!

Hollywood, FL, Us

Hotluvrs: Well for what it’s worth, you are not alone. I took your advice and voila, it works. I posted a hot date and it’s up and running with responses already. The only negative that I have seen so far is I would have liked to be able to set the distance by default and it’s not allowing me to do that. If this minor inconvenience is the price to pay for the changes, I can live with it. As I mentioned in another post, ask 50 people for their input and you would have 50 different ways to update it.
With all the negative noise directed at the IT Dept, cudeos to all of you for your efforts.

There was a way under the old Hot Date format to filter out what you did not want to view, such as single males. Doesn't appear to be an option now.

I am once again bucking the trend...

I actually like the current hotdates page better than the previous iteration. Yes, like all things SLS, it's clunky and needs to be cleaned up, but it works well for us.

Remember that to change the distance range of the hotdates you are viewing, you need to click on "change location" to find the distance range button.

We are seeing single guys, single women, and couple's hot dates.

When we posted our own hotdate, it was up right away, and we received inquiries within minutes.

The biggest issue I have is all parties, club invites, etc were all posted in the same area and easily viewable. Now it a mess and practically unusable to search for 2 hours to find out who has what. I basically have abandoned looking.

I’m a project manager in IT and have managed many website builds and I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt whomever made these decisions has no clue about website useability or testing. I have 6 old emails with the bird and they’ve told me they can’t be removed. Ugh, yes they can, have you DBA delete them.

Frustrating. I will not be re-upping.

The concept of taking away functionality to force users to pay again for features they paid for before is quite sleazy. The decision of who you want to view should be based on your settings, not the site administrators. That is how most reputable sites operate.

The hot date section is totally fucked up now. All we see is single males postings which we never saw before. And why did they take away range values less than 50 miles? A friend of ours once told us: "I never drive more than 20 minutes for a piece of ass!"

Algonquin, IL, Us

Really? I hAve to create a new profile, and pay again to see hot dates? What about emails? Since they changed(updated. Coughs coughs)! I can't do that either?

@EdandBritney - create and pay for another profile just to be able to even view the Hot Dates from couples only looking for couples? That’s very unreasonable to require that and not likely to happen. As a Lifetime Member they have taken that function away from me, something that I successfully used on several occasions. I shouldn’t be expected to now have to create paid couples profiles for every FWB I cycle through simply to have the same options that I’ve already paid for once.

San Diego, CA, Us

Totally new and UNimproved - ugh!
