I agree with many of you, what's the benefit of being a paid member if I can only contact a limited group of people(paid members)? I would prefer that more people pay, makes the site better for everyone, but marketing should come up with a variety of plans to suit people's interests to generate sales. Severely limiting what your paid members can do on here will kill this site, which i have enjoyed for many years. Contacting Free members should be an incentive to become a paid member.
FREE MEMBERS - now completely restricted
Same reason everyone test drives a car or samples anything.
Try before you buy, but full access requires joining.
It is the way almost everything works.
Free is not the same as paid ever.
Simple equation.
We fully appreciate and support the restrictions to freeloaders, or more accurately this refers to the previous version of unlimited free membership.
The rude factor has dropped exponentially and it just makes sense to have only limited free viewing time to decide to pay or go away.
Free is exactly that - free and contributes nothing so always limit what if anything free can see, do or yes this includes any ability to mail or respond. Free is not a membership - it is a peek view only now. So much better!
Free has a choice - Step up and support like the paying membership does.
I sure wish that free members could view and respond to messages that I send to them.
Take care
OK, it's been awhile since we were free members, but if I remember right...
1) Free members could only read original posts, and replies here in the forums, but not comment on them.
2) Free members could respond to mails sent to them, but they could not create any new ones to send.
3) Free members had complete access to the chat rooms, including being able to watch other's cams, and get on cam themselves.
As for the new law, and the knee jerk reaction a lot of adult oriented sites have taken, yes it sucks. I have seen some sites loosen the reigns a bit to make it more accommodating to all involved. Personally I do not see the harm in putting it back the way it was, except possibly giving them complete access to the chat rooms again. They would not be initiating anything through mails, or the forum, but it would give them a decent taste as to what it would be like as a paying member.
Why buy the cow if you can get the milk for free? Like it or not, this site has to make money to keep running, but I feel the lack of enough tease is seriously going to hurt their paying membership numbers.
I have always felt that we had a different version of SLS than others. Our Block feature seems to be one sided. I know several people who have us blocked but they are not on our blocked list. I read where people on the forum say "We unblocked them from our side" but unless it's hidden somewhere I do not see a list that includes those I know have us blocked.
Maybe they still have the old SLS app on their phone? As I recall, the BIG glitch was that blocks didn't seem to work on the app. In a similar fashion, maybe some of the old usage rules for free members are still active on the app?
Then again, I haven't the slightest idea if the app still runs. I never installed it.
They have been members since 10/2017 so its not a "New Profile Glitch"
@Rabbit.
It may of been a glitch but I just checked again and they are labeled as "Free Members" yet they opened a private pic file for us..... Try and figure that one out.
Yeah, it's weird, I've had a few mails from free members come through too recently. Not sure how ¯\_(?)_/¯
Sotw- I just logged into my old SF profile that is now free.
I could not send any emails. When I clicked on the “mail” icon it took me to a page stating I don’t have that privilege
I don’t know how a free member managed to send you an email.
~rabbit~
Yesterday we received a message from a free member, we replied, they replied again. It appears free members are allowed to send messages again.
Agree ...it is actually a slap in us paid members face to have this set up this way. I have no trouble messaging someone first ..( like if they have an interesting profile pic of something I may bee interested in lol ) but to not get be able to get a reply back is rather rude in any other situation except here
I agree , free members should be able to read and respond to paid members but not make first contact . I would not have joined if I had not been able to try he site first and see what was available !!! they should also be able to answer IMs from paid members seeking contact .... parec60
free members should at least be able to respond to email sent by paid members. I've sent a few emails to free members and have no way of telling if they can see them. Recently Ive used mail and just put a hello in the subject line, but do not know if they can read even that much. Most are nice folks looking to connect and try out the site before they buy in, just like I and lots of paid and life time members did initially. SLS, be reasonable.
Sadly, thats not the case here. Folks just joined.
It could be that they were paid when they sent the email and their month or however long they paid for expired. They could have just blasted out copy and paste emails to all the profiles they looked at on the last day. Especially if they included an alternate way of contacting them.
Tiger,
We agree with you. But we think free members shouldn't be able to initiate contact. So far, since the changes, we've received several first contacts from free members.
what's the point in even allowing free members if they can't even reply to a message that a member sends them? At least let them reply.

The rules regarding free members are still the same (since April). Free members should not be able to send messages. SLS will be addressing this issue. Thank you.

Just got an unsolicited email from a free member.
I thought they couldn't send email?
Did something change?
Put a pic up, and have a kik profile the same name
Or, become a paid member like most other serious people here
When free members attempt to initiate a chat session they get a message stating that "Instant messages are for paid members only. They also cannot see what is posted in these forums other than the topics.
I have tried to read this thread throughly but can’t find any mention of free members and the ability to IM or respond to IM. Can someone clarify if IM is still open to them. I assume it’s not. But just wanted to be sure.
Not to get too political... lol (hard not to).... but:
The point was that conservatives pretend to be opposed to government regulations, unless they are regulating things they dont like. (Like same sex marriage, marijuana, consensual sex acts, free speech, the internet, etc.)
and conversely, liberals want to regulate and tell you what you can and cant do. other than gay sex and drugs... (they are really anti-free speech, only want to hear their side and shout down opposition)...
both suck in general....
