should definitely cut down on the fakes and bullSh*ters. I'm fine with it being a paid site.
FREE MEMBERS - now completely restricted
We as paying members should be able to send mail to anyone, Including Free Members. And as that goes those free members should be able to reply to mail sent by paying members. Just my thought, Hope more feel the same
I'm ok with a trial period of say 2 weeks after that if you can't figure out a way to pay then you're not very committed anyway.
It costs real money to keep this site up and running, why should anyone expect a free ride?
Oh wait, silly me that is kind of the problem with this country isn't it.
Good job SLS keep blocking them !
Free members should have a trial period. Being able to see the majority of the site and functions i felt like was a strong selling point.
That said i do hope there more serious restriction of free members cuts down on the window shoppers.
Don't feel bad sarascott they never told us Lifetime members a thing either . The silence speaks volume's
As a former free member who just paid, I can tell you that I couldn't respond to any messages and could only see the subject lines of the messages in my inbox and outbox, and couldn't read any certs. Unfortunately I never got an email explaining the changes to me, which I wish I had gotten.
I get being nervous and not wanting to risk the site being shut down, and I get that being a free member, they didn't necessarily owe me anything, but it would have been nice to not have to read about the change on Reddit to figure out what was happening.
Im basing what I say on that I set up a free dummy account and have been test emailing with my lifetime account.. havent done it in a while so maybe something has changed.... will try again tonight.
Excellent point!
I am more than surprised that "management" has not sent out an email blast to all explaining the changes, why, and most importantly what "free" members can and can not do . . . .
I think paying members deserve to know and free members need to know!
I am not seeing that . A free member contacted me today and have been messaging back and forth several times. Unless it is because they contacted me first . Which may be the case . Again this would be a great time for our webmasters to jump in and actually tell us what is going on but god forbid they do that .
from what I am able to see... free members get the email and can read the greeting line only... cannot open or respond to emails... so put your contact info in the greeting line if you have want any chance....
Do I have this correct, Free members can read a sent mail, but cannot reply?
Most websites that have a paid subscription offer some type of limited access. Thats normal. I would think keeping the g rated only pics for the free members to see and allowing them to browse profiles but not email would be good enough
I've actually seen several formerly free members in my area finally become paid. No idea if it's enough to compensate for the ones who decide "fuckit, I'm outta here".
The thing to keep in mind is that up until the latest changes, SLS was probably the best deal for free members in the LS, despite the state-of-the-art web design. You could actually use the site as a freebie, to a certain degree. The new SOP is really just bringing the site in line with the LS norm. Whether that's a good thing or not, I honestly don't have much of an opinion, as I pretty much ignored the free members anyway.
I hope "management" rethinks the "Free" member category and can find a way to at least, as mentioned before, enable Paid and Lifetime members to communicate with them -- especially those who were established over years and had a history of emailing others. I fear that if "management" does nothing then all that will happen is a zillion free members who sign-up, log on, get pissed -- but have consumed he site's band-width so it is slow or down for the rest of us.
And . . . .
I wonder how many of the old "Free" members have chalked up the bucks to join as Paid or Lifetime members????
Wondering if the "new law" has anything to do with our email history vanishing.....
Looks like All you can do is get mad they don't care about us Lifetime Members AFTER ALL they'd HAVE AII REDY GOT OUR money
SO, let me get this straight.....
If you list a party or event on here, you cannot listed a dollar amount that it cost to get in the door because that can somehow be construed as sex trafficking?
Now you have to be a paid member on here to communicate with other paid members.
Isn't the monthly, annual or lifetime "door" fee paid to SLS the same as the "door" fee paid at a party or event? You are paying to enter a place to communicate with others?
As I have seen posted here by others, the simple fix is..... Allow free members to reply to paid members e mails and IM's. It really makes since. You won't receive unwanted e mails from free members. You have to contact them for them to be able to reply.
FOSTA most likely caused "management" to panic and take away the very limited email limits that Free members had. The result may well in time make the site no better than any other site which allows its members bypass the email system by posting, and using other email addresses. I would suggest they revert to what appears to have worked. But then again when have Paying or Lifetime members ever been listened to.
I'd rather see that free members can only reply to mail SENT by a paid member.
"I have seen some of the result of this technical stress, and can imagine that the admins of the site are scrambling to keep the site running. My IM logs are gone prior to early March, surely because they needed to make room for all the new IMs happening. My messages from last year are gone, again, an indication that they are scrambling to make room in the database for the influx of new messages daily. The profile approval system has been down for a few days, new profiles are stacking up waiting for approval."
This post is actually kinda quaint.
All of these things you observe have been happening for the 11 or so years we have been lifetime members.
It may be that the servers are stressed, but if that is the case, they have been stressed for 11 years.
The general consensus is that this is the best circa 1995 website out there...
No, they can't.
question:? does anyone know if free members can even read an email that is sent to them now? (admin? anyone?)
It is not right to have your access denied when we paid for a life time Membership with all the feathers in place > they change the rules on us . Hell we cant even use Our block any moor . It is easy to use voice and pich check it to prove your age if it is really about Safety > moor about Right and wrong from the Powers that be In D.C.
This is the former SM previously known as Uriah, since 2002 during my years as a SM (2002-2012) I have had more pussy individually thany any 10 men have had in their collective lifetime.
Over the years on this site, I have been the target of insane stalkers. That is simply the price of leadership. Of course, the stalkers were all free members. When I called this to the attention of SLS Management at that time, they defended the business decision to accomodate free memberships (this defied logic as free members didn’t pay dues).
Now, I guess they saw I was right, but I’m not saying I told you so.
Mr. Uriah
We do agree with the restrictions on the free members, with CL gone it would have turned into a nightmare of the paid people who use the site. We like this site and hope no more restrictions are placed on us.
Have to comment on the Archived messages and IM logs that have been deleted. I have asked customer support over a year ago that I wanted to delete these myself, was told they HAD to be saved and could not be deleted. NOW that it is beneficial for the site they delete these without informing us and having the option to save any. Some of that information we wanted to save and do not have the option to get it. We think this was a wrong way to handle this. Yes it is their website and their bat & ball. But, we did pay for the site. That is our bitch for the day. All in all Hope this ends up being a good thing for us. Time will tell
