Fix the website already

Claremont, NC, Us

This site has really gone to hell lately. How hard is it to properly address ALL the issues SLS has? Seriously, it’s 2023 there are a lot of talented competent human beings that can fix this piece of shit site. Every damn week it’s something different…….
Very frustrating and unnecessary!

Bethesda, MD, Us

This site is built using something that is not resilient enough or it might be archaic and has a gazillion patches running over it jumping hoops backwards in order to comply with regulations. The site is obtuse and pathetic. I want to say something but I do not know where to start. I run this site on my phone and it is like WTF?!?!? I run it on a large screen at home and it feel like 2003 instead of 2023. The waste of time waiting for things to load, having to click back unnecessarily. Having features that are absolute crap and confusing what is the difference between messages and alerts It really sours the online experience. Someone has a big ego and cant allow their baby to grow up. I mean it can't be the money. I did the numbers and if the site is crap as it is and not only does it not improve it actually deteriorates someone must have a substance abuse problem. Normally I don't complain about things. In fact I rarely do. I'll look for the good points to talk about instead. but In this case however it is deplorable and I feel compelled to call it out. So frustrated was I that I opted to download the phone app. O freaking M freaking G. What a piece of dung. Seriously, the whole user interface is in reverse order, text is non zoomable. Everything is super super stupid. messages come in spread out amongst several bubbles a la text message on the phone. But there I am done.I have no idea how people connect on this site. You have to work soooooooooo hard. Happy New Year, same as the old year. we all get pushed away.

Does anyone else find it curious that the red new Message counter gets blamed for the poor web site performance and gets disabled, but the red new Alert counter has continued to work?

Parkville, MD, Usa

Whats the point in removing the red banner about the message counter not working (and replacing it with a red banner about the wall undergoing maintenance) if the message counter was never fixed? Had a friend message me ... nope, counter still not working.

The aforementioned would also play into my theory that their "server" is running a Pentium II 333MHz CPU with 32MB RAM.... lol

Hmm. Possible underlying explanation.... IF my research is correct, DashboardHosting, which hosts SLS, and SLS... are owned and run by the same entity. Would make a lot of sense given the combination of website functionality and issues that are potentially hosting-related if they are both being managed by the same folks. If the site were solid and the hosting iffy, there wouldn't be as many issues. If the site were funky and the hosting solid, again the issues would not be so prevalent/frequent. Factor in that it's the same folks doing both... and well, "ya git what we have here. Which is.... failure to [effectively/functionally] communicate." Some level of failure present at nearly all times. Wayne may be able to chime in to confirm or deny....??

Messages intermittent. Certs very slow to load. Approving profiles and pics are a mess. Hot dates super slow.

Message system won't load messages for us today.

We were at a NYE party with about 30 people and many were discussing how this website seems to be imploding.

The two most essential features of this site is mail/ability to message, and hot dates. Management keeps “improving” both and continually making them less user friendly, and reliable. Now it appears that they may be at the limit of their bandwidth as the site is really slow and, therefore, not reliable. I too have seen many from here on other sites, and many formerly paid subscribers switching to free. In data analysis you need to drill down to get the tru picture. Great if cruises are full, new members increase, etc, but seller beware when the quality feet run away!

When we met couples and singles from other swinger web sites, one of the first things we did was see if they also had a profile here on SLS. SLS was our primary site for the LS, and it was easy to try to run as much as we could through one web site.

Today, that has totally changed. If we run across a profile or start conversing with someone on SLS, we check to see if they are on the other web sites to continue getting to know them.

SLS is simply too unreliable to use. We don’t know at any given time if we’re going to be able to even log in, let alone see Hot Dates, or read & respond to Messages.

@kand. I agree too. The next cruise 408 members claim to be going. Simple math. Many are free members.

@italian. Agreed. We have been here since 2016. Recently we started to look for options and we where surprised to see what you described. Recovering sls members. And as opposed to what SLS may think. We want to stay in this site and we want it to work!

@notsureaboutthisgig I understand your statement but have to add an asterisk. This site doesn’t exist to drive commission revenue. It’s exists to fill the two Bliss Cruises and a few other entities. As long at those stay full or near capacity, there is no reason or incentive to fix anything here.

"We’ve just noticed people seeking alternative sites more in our recent outings than ever before."

It's not just you. We were at a party Saturday night and I noticed that fewer than half of the attendees had signed up through SLS. There was also a multi-person conversation about the best sites to use and SLS was dismissed as lots of people but...followed by a list of issues.

Westmoreland, NY, Us

@notsure - Agree with you there. It’s obvious the powers here are fine with things as they stand or these ongoing issues would be resolved in short order. We’ve just noticed people seeking alternative sites more in our recent outings than ever before.

Manhattan, NY, Us

@italian. Don't disagree at all. Just saying that marketing and commission revenue drive the site's economics not membership fees. Is a long term bad plan for the reasons you state, but today total number of members and the hits that those members do in ads and events are the numbers used by site with commercial sponsors to get the money for the owner. Whether hot dates works or whether you lost emails is not a priority. Otherwise it would be fixed.

I disagree a bit on Unlimited/Lifetime members adding no value to the site. They do by word of mouth and bringing those new members in to become paying members and expand the base even further. That said, those members now have zero confidence (and rightfully so) that anything will be fixed, let alone improved. You can look back over the past three years in the forum and see many of the same issues persist to this day. Much of the chatter at events now when it comes to networking is looking for new options. We’ve seen many couples actively promoting alternatives in hopes to build up user bases elsewhere which we haven’t seen in the past. That alone is telling that current members are reaching a breaking point where the site functioning just good enough isn’t cutting it. It’s obviously not that much of a concern to the site owners here though as they still have a vast network of people. That said, the natives are def getting restless it appears. We want the site to be functional and reliable like everyone else. We love the established network and would just like to see it get the proper dedication it deserves.

We often wonder why paid members -as opposed to life members (whatever they are called now) renew each month. The monthly paid members actually bring cash flow to site on a monthly basis. The life members paid in full at start and are used by site to bolster the marketing revenue but they do not bring monthly cash flow via fees. I would venture to say that SLS makes its profit on the advertising and commissions from events. Not directly from members fees. That also would explain free members. They can't do much on site. Except book any sponsor event such as bliss cruises and see the ads. Which brings indirect profit to SLS by ramping marketing hits. Simply put. Membership fees is not where the money comes from. Any change will have to be dictated by the advertising revenue. [Add raise hand emoji here]

Yup, can't even submit tickets. This site is a joke.

and now support tickets will not go through

Yeah it takes 10 minutes to message someone and hot dates never come up. I do t think I'll be renewing in a few days....I doubt nothing will get fixed.

Woohoo, hot dates working now that the weekend is over. If websites were NFL teams, this one would be the fucking Texans.

Seymour, TN, Us

Well, I just checked, and I'll be damned the Hot Dates page is working, Funny now that the weekend is over. This site is such a joke.
