Fix the website already

The indicators that you have unread Forum posts is whacked. It has always had problems keeping track where a browser refresh would get it caught up and reflecting read messages. This morning it is noticably worse. I've hit the browser refresh multiple times and things show up, go away, then show up again later.

Whatever it is that keeps things in sync is falling behind. Not sure if that will cause other issues, but it definitely looks like a performance issue is happening more often lately.

I'm working with the developers to pinpoint and resolve the other issues.

Exactly ... it has happened to us many many many times, and all we do is copy and paste the same message and eventually it goes through, so it is obviously not a trigger word. But it has been a couple months since it has happened to us.

Wow, I understand trying to help people, however, some are beyond help. Don’t know that thousands of subscribers should have to dance around trigger words for the few that are too dumb to function in todays society.

And hopefully it was reported to law enforcement .. so they can take proper action . Obviously not that scammers first rodeo!

Hope we are NOT like Seminole Indians at Hard Rock etc in Hollywood FL and the other locations they have.. that kept all criminal activity under wraps as not to alarm patrons! Yes first hand knowledge of many cases! Swept under the rug!

These things are done to protect our customers. There was a person or group of people creating accounts on our site and other sites like ours trying to scam people. We blocked the common phrases they were using in their private messages.

One of our customers gave them all his credit card info based on the wording they used. They then started taking money from his account and his bank detected it and blocked them. He then confronted the scammer and they told him they were running tests to verify his card and were about to put the money back on his card when the bank blocked them, so he had his bank unblock them and then they took even more money from him!

Not everyone has the knowledge to detect these scams. Most of our customers do and they report them, but we are trying to be proactive and block it from happening at all.

Nothing but error messages and pics and mail not loading up either right now. Of course I am trying to have a conversation with someone through messages. Damn it!

MandC, no one said it made sense lol It’s just site policy to protect the members.

So it's OK to post these "trigger words" into a forum post where anyone & everyone can see them, but if you try to send them to someone as part of a private conversation, that's not allowed?

No

@mayhem, the site def goes overboard with the restrictions and I don’t expect that to lighten up after their rebrand, but those can be dealt with and accepted for a fully functional and well running site. We’re just anxious to not have to deal all the glitches and work arounds to use the current site.

Wayne - Does Messaging and the Forum share the same trigger words?

I went over this in the "Messages Broken?" thread. The main words causing problems were "signup" and "registration". Those have been removed so you can use them now.

(Knock on wood!)" Are you still having problems with disappearing messages? We need to know because as far as we know, that issue has been resolved and we have not been receiving any reports of it. The only issue now that is being reported is that sometimes one profile can never message a specific other profile, no matter what they type.

One thing that will trigger both the forums and messages is if you try to paste a link (URL) in. There are ways around it, but that may be why they don't want to tell you the trigger words ;-)

Westmoreland, NY, Us

Oh it’s an issue as we’ve had messages go through on the 5th attempt. I think our record is 8. But Wayne has acknowledged there are blocked words that will kill a message too without any notice and there is no official list of banned words posted anywhere.

The bigger question is why are devs using resources here if the new site is under construction. All available resources should be focused on launching the rebrand.

Gangbang, gangbang, gang bang. Hmmm, doesn't seem to trigger the forums ;-)

Las Vegas, NV, Us

We copy all of our messages before we send them. If/when the message fails to send and disappears, we refresh the page, paste the message and send again. That usually works.

Wayne says it's trigger words, but since I've had the same cut/paste message go through on the third or eighth or whatever attempt, it's really just a thing that sometimes the message you've typed vanishes.

Would be helpful if there was a list of those trigger words someplace.

Westmoreland, NY, Us

@XCentric2, disappearing messages are commonplace with the current site. It's best practice to always copy to clipboard before sending any IM so that you can paste and retry until the message goes through. It can take multiple tries sometimes and if still not working, try rewording it as certain "trigger words" are in place that can cause a message to not be sent.

"Our messages are disappearing when hitting send. They also are not arriving to those we have sent them to. Is anyone else expecting this?"

@Xcentric ... The way this site runs at times, I would fully expect that.
