For me, the husband, it's shaved close to my jawn and then after an inch or so out it's a fade.. kind of like from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Equally important is to do it the day before or the morning of. One time I waited till when I was in the shower right before we went out and I cut myself. Only did that once :-)

It's a lot easier going down if the lady I'm with is smooth and not wearing any jewelry down there. Then there's no distraction in finding her magic place...
Manscaping
We wax / trim for aesthetics and personal preference. The wife prefers to wax for that smooth all over look and feel. The husband has moderate body hair and trims so as to maintain a neat appearance and shaves his twig and berries for that smooth silky feel.
We laugh at the hairy guys we see that wax / shave their pubic region, as it resembles a “clearing in the forest”, and only highlights his peanut bag and stalk.
Down their hair is disgusting in my opinion.
I'm completely shaved....I would like to get one of those home laser hair removal things
Waxing as women wax men can wax also and if you do it long enough you won't have to worry about shaving.

Ladies, should men with more than average body hair ("excess" is in the eye of the beholder) keep that hair clipped?
Ladies, if you think that men should be "manscaped", who wields the clippers on your partner ? You? Someone paid to do this task? A volunteer?
Shaving or trimming is kind of personal preference or maybe the preference of a mate. I've moved from trimmed up top/shaved below to shaved everywhere down there. Looks better on me and she likes it. Being shaved is also the most common thing for men and women at the swinger/nudist places we go to, although trimmed up top isn't uncommon. My experience is that women prefer shaved balls and if you're trimmed up top, just don't have it prickly short or look goofy like a landing strip, or something. Or if you have a really hairy torso, don't shave and leave some patch like a stark bald spot on your groin, trim instead. I've also learned that hardly any women like back hair.
My shaving kit is a regular quad blade face razor and an electric beard trimmer. I shave in the shower with just body soap or shampoo for the shave cream. I use the beard trimmer to keep the chest/stomach hair from looking like a forest. I used to use the trimmer when I trimmed above my unit or to get it short enough to shave. I do that in the shower, too, fast and easy. After I shave, I use a cotton ball to put on this stuff called "No Bump" that my gf gave me - works miracles to avoid bumps or ingrown hairs.
Do a search for manscape or manscaping. You’ll find threads about this topic
well to just trim keeps its softer, to shave eventually you get stubble and more of a possibility of getting an ingrown hair
What is the best kit to use for manscaping? Also, is it better to be trimmed or shaved?
