Fake profiles

Bristol, RI, Us

There has always been fake profiles even in the pre internet days when there were swinger contact publications. Back then there was a list of certain words and/or phrases that would tip you off to a BS profile. But I admit that I also met more people then and the lifestyle wasn't so commercialized like it seems to be now

A few red flags for me is an immediate push for more pictures beyond the g-rated ones in my public gallery. A reluctance to actually meet, or if they will meet, little to no info about the female half of the so-called couple or him wanting to meet us alone first. If someone supposedly lives in my area but doesn't know common landmarks, that's a red flag. Another is an immediate push to a non-SLS communication channel.

Minimal profiles are more yellow flags for me, and I rarely look at certs.

There is generally a stark contrast in the initial message exchanges when you run across someone legit vs a fake.

What are your common “red flags” to spot fakers. Mine is grainy low quality pics, one sentence profiles, and no certs even after being a member since 2012.

While it's obvious fake profiles exist, I personally just don't run across many of them. Although I do engage with people online, the vast majority of our contacts come from meeting people in person at parties. If I do engage with someone online, it usually doesn't take long to figure out they're fake.

The people that are paying for a fake profile on SLS aren't likely to pay to attend a party. Taking pictures at the parties we attend is highly frowned upon. Also, we are really only looking for couples online. That's not to say that a so-called couple can't be a fake profile, but opening the door of interest to SMs online is a much larger group of profiles and more likely to expose one to more fake profiles.

I would have to agree with you Mayhem that fake profiles are relatively easy to spot. I don’t understand also why they do it except to steal pics and personal info. These people are getting good with their profiles they are adding certs and legitimate pics.

I’m not sure if this is the case with SLS, but I’ve read that on sites like Tinder, Plenty of Fish, ext that fake profiles are used to make the site look as if they have thousands of members when in actuality they don’t have close to that number. Guess we will never be able to get away from fake profiles.

We used to use NetZero back in the day when things were dial-up modem speeds. As for fakes, on the upside many are usually easy to pick out. I still don't see what people get out of it since there's so much free porn out there if they're just looking for masturbation material.

I used Prodigy back in the 90s on my Packard Bell computer. I remember have to plug my phone line in and hoped no one tried to call.
