M- When we rebuilt we made sure that the whole basement , garage, and Bathrooms had radiant.
The controls were a bit pricey but It was figured I would get my ROI by the end of the second year.
Our Family room is @ 1500 sq ft , and we can walk around barefoot, I can keep it at a constant 70degrees. With no signifigant extra draw.

And added bonus for us was Our investment in our foundation system, We used the Integra spec system that gives us an R 48 in the walls, and R 30 in the floor system.

When we build our next home we are planning of either installing a wind generator or solar panels .

We already have hydronic heat in the floors, certain baseboards, and built-in space heaters, so I'm familiar with the concept. The problem is it wasn't put in every place where it is needed.

p.s. Radiant heat kits are cheap, it's everything else that adds up that makes it expensive.

In every house that we owned, we always did upgrades with the thought of resale value. Same here, though this house is the longest that we'll be spending time in. We're still investing wisely. Our little guy will be out of school in five years, regardless of where he goes to college, we'll be putting this behemoth on the market in about five years. So everything that we do, is with that in mind. Radiant heat is awesome and always adds value to your house. We had radiant heat in the house before this one, we stripped that house to the beams and rebuilt it, with radiant heat in every place that had tile (kitchen some bathrooms etc...).

The best thing about radiant heat is that it saves you money in heating costs. Well, second best, the very best thing is walking on a tile floor barefoot when it's 10F outside :)

Sed, I meant it more as an exclamation than a question, since the radiant heat option sounds marvelous. All this talk about bathroom remodeling has added another facet to the dream about how I would redo this house.

milk chilled to just shy of icy in the freezer, hershey's chocolate syrup. Trying to resist slipping some chocolate vodka in it.

Scandle,

I just saw your question to me about the radiant heat in the master shower. Yes, there will be radiant heat in the shower as well as the bench and the back rest.
