I haven't had Sambuca since the summer of 2011 when I was in London. A group of 20-something Scottish boys challenged me to a drinking contest.

They said that I was an "old man" and that "American drink watered down beer" and that they we were going to "drink like men!" I told them to let me know when any men showed up because otherwise I'd be drinking alone.

We started out drinking beer, which was fine. I can drink beer like it's tap water with little effect. They decided they wanted to "take it to the next level" so we started drinking Sambuca. We did that for a while and they realized that I wasn't as drunk as they were. Finally, I suggested we switch to whiskey. One of them said "You're a machine!" I responded "No, but I've had over twenty years more practice than you have."

At the end of the night, I had drank them all under the table.

for an Italian girl I'm not much of a wine drinker.

Vodka, or if I don't mind the crazy erotic dreams I will have Sambucca, but it leaves me feeling weird the next morning like I'm not really sure if what I dreamed was a dream.

I'm mostly a wine-drinker. I like a good amaretto once in a while, beer on rare-ish occasions, and because I live in a suburb off of Mexico, of course I'll take a margarita once in a while!

I go through phases. 2011 was the year of vodka. I researched vodka, collected vodka recipes and drank a good deal of the stuff. I like it a lot.

I'm considering a small side trip into Scotch but I think whiskey is my first love in the world of distilled beverages. It is so warm and flavorful. Sometimes the vodka flavor is eclipsed by the bite even with good vodka. That never happens with whiskey.

I like a good fruity sweet drink, too. I'm a multi-purpose drinker, I guess?

I am not that crazy about whiskey either. I am one of those girly girls, when it comes to drinks. They don't have to have an umbrella but they do have to be sweet.

If you really said that, I can only assume a) you are an alien b) you are a girly girl who only drinks things with umbrellas or c) you just haven't had the right whiskey. Out of respect for you, I'm going with option c.
