Utility and "Locator" companies under contract with 811 system will only locate public lines. The will not locate privates lines (example: water line from the meter to the structure, private electric lines , gas lines and septic lines. I suppose one could privately hire the locator company to do this, but have never seen it done.
You have to mark your own, privately owned lines, be they pipe, fiber optic or cable/wires.
There are locator services that will locate those things. When an 811 call comes in, the known utility providers are contacted. If the utility service doesn't mark them with their own crews, they will contract with a locator service to do so.
In short, if you don't have the means to locate your own buried "whatever", you'd have to hire a locator service to detect the buried "whatever".
You then hand dig or stay the hell away from the areas that are marked.
You're supposed to call 811 before you dig. They'll contact all the parties who have buried wires, pipes, glass fiber, etc. You would have gotten a call telling you to come out and mark your buried electrical line because some dummy got a trencher.
BF #2 now I might as well replace the busted inverter in the coop so I can run the fountain off the solar setup on the coop. Been dreading that for a while.
Lol nope. Chickens won't have light tonight & early morning in the coop and the pond fountain doesn't work now. Add it to the list of things to do tomorrow or next weekend
BF, forgot where I buried a (temporary) electric line aka 10/3 extension cord out by the chicken coop. Well while digging a trench to put a line out there I found it with the trencher. Lol
Melvin saves on therapy here by telling us free of charge or care in the world every waking moment, bowel movement and person who has wronged him in life. And then reminds us again. And again. Just in case we forget. We haven't forgotten your life traumas, Melvin. We really, really want to. But you simply won't let us. What exactly is critical mass to know it's a you problem and we're not the real problem? There's close to a baker's dozen here letting you know you should check the mirror more often.
