Simple Pleasures

Havin I have always been into growing or killing my food. I watched way to much Daniel Boone and Sea Hunt as a kid. Store bought food sucks.
i make my own sauces from the fruit i grow from BBQ sauce to an apricot ketchup. i dry all the extra tomatoes and the rehydrate them in red wine and put them on pizza.
I used to shoot and butcher my own deer and pigs in California and will do that again once i get some land here in Nevada as soon as my daughter is done with college. Fresh meat is so much better then store bought.
fish, abalone, crabs all live and kicking right before we eat them or same day anyway, such a huge difference between the old seafood you get in the store.
Here in Nevada its only fish, which i make into jerkey

Watching the fire drill at the lake yesterday. Took a day off from the house and business and went fishing. Warm day the place i fish at the lake was packed with people lining the shore and boats everywhere.

The game warden in a boat came to check licenses and the illegals ran like a bat out of hell. About half the people on the east side shore just left all their fishing poles and ran up an step hill as fast as they could. Everyone watching had a really good laugh.

the pleasures of fishing Lake Mead some days are more entertaining then others!!

Snowy Saturday Nights ;-)

.... and Sunshine Sunday mornings ;-*

SP: Trey & I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day so much but are going for ice cream this afternoon and I’m wearing the Predators shirt from my profile picture and tight skinny jeans. I look fabulous and sexy as sin. Dood’s a lucky man if I can say so for myself. ;-)

Took a break from the house and went fishing at the lake in my kayak. hooked a 20lb carp that pulled my kayak all over the place with a bunch of people watching from shore and in boats. What fun !!

SP #1: riding in our utv to the top of our highest hill (you can see for miles) and getting nearly buzzed by a low flying Hawk. So close we could hear the flap of his wings.

SP #2: finding deer prints in all the spilled birdseed by the feeders from a herd that came right into the yard area of our property as we watched through the windows. One was a baby a few months old.
We see deer often but they never come that close during the day.

The simple pleasure of fixing something. The house we bought has an RV gate that was messed up and tilted. All fixed!! Yaa only took me a couples of hours more then a professional and a few more swear word at that..but the pleasure of that gate swinging open like brand new.

3 pieces of bacon, scrambled eggs and strawberries.

For reasons unknown to me, these tasted like a million bucks this morning.

SP: Sitting on my deck getting ready to do a little school work.

Got a steaming cup of coffe and smoking a wonderful English blend in a favorite Italian pipe while enjoying the banter over in the "No Smokers in Profiles" thread.

I'm reminded of how my pipes (I'm an incuarable collector) are 1) wonderfully made, 2) give a great deal of pleasure, and 3) are silent. ;^D

I'm moved to now run over to Ebay and double my current bid on a particularly rare pre-transition Caminetto I've had my eyes on.

Motivation is often found in the most unlikely of places.

Just setting on my deck smoking a cigar, throwing the ball for Dexter to retrieve. Open field 150 yards to tree line. Redtail Hawk facing west flying 200 feet above field. Strong breeze from west, Redtail Hawk is flying in one spot as breeze holds it there. Its nest is in the trees. Looking for the catch of the day.

SP: Homemade chicken and dumplings while waiting on my Tramp to get out of class. Temp is dropping, so I built a fire, snuggled up with my puppy on the couch. Life is sooooo good....

BT, we have a Chocolate Lab, 1/12 year old. It is hard to keep him off our bed. I get up at night and "try" to get back in bed, he is spread out in my spot. I try to move him, he refuses to move. I go down stairs and sleep there.
