SP: Porkroll, egg, and cheese!
I thought you said pants. Its that whole deadhead thing that has me worried.
I'll come organize closets and drawers anyday, but you're taking a risk if you let me near your plants. Mr.Sexus, however, seems to have a way with them.
I commissioned a bench for my deceased son in a sensory garden in SC and volunteered to go in on occasion and cut the deadheads off plants. Well, thankfully, they had tons of other reliable people to do it because I only went once. I am not cut out for that.
I don't think I'd like Ms. jinx deadheading me, but tell us more about that nursing stuff... ;-)
Mrs. Minx will deadhead flowers everywhere she goes. If you let her, she would dh your entire garden for you. She will also nurse any and all plants and flowers back to life. I have never seen her throw one to the pile.
Carrie I am glad to see I am not the only one who finds peace in the simple act of purging my plants of dead weight. It has long been a symbolic gesture much like the "he loves me , he loves me not" game we played as children. In order to bring more beauty to your life you must deadhead regularly. A snip here, a pinch there and room is made for growth.
I don't have a pond to listen to(some day) but I do have 2 kitties that cry relentlessly when I am outside. It is sweet music , I am convinced it is because they miss me. The fact that the birds are just out of reach surely has nothing to do with it lol...we make our own happiness .

My Mom is with you ladies that like to behead the flowers. At 83, she takes her walking stick and a lawn chair to rest in as she tends her plants. At her age and state of health, just getting up in the morning is something she considers a simple pleasure....when she can work in her flowers and boss the "lawn-boy" around that mows her grass, she is ecstatic.

SP: enjoying a good read in the backyard hammock.
the Southern use of the word "sugar" is a kiss. EX: "go give granny some sugar before we leave"
....and can also be used as a term of endearment, pronounced as Shelly demonstrated.
the Yankee use of the word "sugar" refers to a granulated white substance that is generally used quite liberally in sweet tea.
I need to break out a copy of Southern Ladies and Gentlemen. The excerpt about the "self-rejuvenating virgins" is pretty funny stuff.
Mrs. Sav,
I am the same way. I love going outside and trimming all the dead leaves off my plants. Listening to my fish pond makes it even more calming.
Carrie
Wear those raggedy old cloths with pride. SP going for a run in the woods.
Sugar, as a term of endearment is commonly pronounced as "shooogah"

SP: My favorite very oversized, ancient sweatshirt fresh from the dryer. This thing is so ugly it can't be worn out of the house but I love it so.
SP: A few moments spent deadheading my flower pots. I have an obsessive need to rid my dozens of pots of dead flowers each day , doing so gives me a few moments of mental blackout. ....very therapeutic. It's also a bit compulsive, simply walking past other peoples pots gives me an overwhelming urge to purge them of death lol.
Ever dead flower removed counts for one negative feeling, thought or stress......some days there simply aren't enough dead flowers LOL.
Mrs Sav
My take on the southern "sugar" is a term of endearment. The northern version is sarcasm? Is this right....sugar.....LOL!
Could you please 'splain?
I know the difference between "sugar" and "Yankee sugar"

"there are 1000's of definitions of a southerner, but that's mine."
If you were 18 years old before learning that "damn Yankee" is two words, you just might be a true southerner.
Pecan pie is great! I only have a tsp once a year....LOL...I love my body paint. It's washed off now but it was fun while it lasted.
i'm a true southerner. all sodas are "coke", anything north of Nashville is "up north", I still smell the powder burning, and I love pecan pie.
there are 1000's of definitions of a southerner, but that's mine. :)
Mr She- me too just not pecan! :-)
