Cigars

Alpharetta, GA

This probably ought to be in the BF thread, but....

For more than 40 yrs. I've occassionally smoked and collected fine pipes, along with cigars. I recently regained an bit of interest but found that over the last decade fine pipe stores have become extinct essentially...ugggggg

Was finally out and about again last weekend. I tried a Victor Sinclair Corojo Series 55. It was an OK smoke. It went well with my single barrel. The price was acceptable for a 6 1/2" Churchill ( $5.99 ) stick. Has anyone else tried Victor Sinclairs?

"...and so do the ladies..." I know a few who appreciate a torpedo once in a while too ;-)

I enjoyed a Macanudo on Sat night/early am while sipping some whiskey on my front porch with a senior member of the local chapter of the Krewe of Asshats. First cigar I've had in probably a year.

-A warm welcome, Sarge.

I enjoy, and so do the ladies by the way a CAO Moontrance Torpedo. It's Dominican blend, Cameroon wrapper and gentle, mesmerizing infusions of pure bourbon vanilla and Georgia peaches. Can't go wrong by it. Yea, I know it's a "flavored" cigar, but it's wonderful.

Someone told me years ago, and I'm not sure they were correct, that the Royal Jamaican company would buy up all the used, about to be discarded, rum casks. The company would then de-hoop the casks and lay the pieces between the curing tobacco leaves. Supposedly, that was how they got that unique oaky, sweet taste in their cigars. Don't know if that story is true. But, the cigars do have an unmistakable flavor with a slightly sweet aftertaste.
They have been unavailable in my area for several years. I'm going to start asking for them again.

That's sounds like a great cigar!

On weekends the cigar place usually has a different cigar rep usually promoting néw brands. I had a Esteban Carreras "Chupa Cabra" ten bucks. I really liked it! Had it with Jack Honey whiskey which I'd nice once and awhile.

Sorry guys,
But, my name is not Louis. The historically challenged call me "George", which I refuse to answer to. A lot call me Al, because I look like the weather guy on TV.

I have a niece who lives year round in YarmouthPort. I don't visit her often because I hate going over Sagamore.

Back to the topic, last night I swapped a MyFathers for a Royal Jamaican Double Corona. What a blast from the past! And, it smoked like a dream. The guy I swapped with convinced me to try it with a snifter of Black Sambuca. meh

It is very nice there and I know it well...

Next time I'm up there I'm gonna make an effort so I can see Ricky King Russell AND AND AND Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish...that will take you outta that area though.

Cape Cod and Blues Music! Those guys love their Blues. I'm jealous and enjoy!

Outer Cape too. Much more laid back and non-commercial. National Seashore, Cahoon Hollow, the BeachComber...

Yippie freakin' skippie!

Nothing like The Cape! You lucky duck.

LOL!

How'd you know that my name is Billy Ray?

New Orleans, LA, Us

Can't touch that one. Wanna, but just can't. I have a very strong desire to quote Trading Places, but thought the better of it.

One week, and I will be toes-deep in the sands of Cape Cod, discreet flask of Makers, and a quality stogie in hand. (Had to bring this back OnT)

He kinds looks like a Louis..good call

New Orleans, LA, Us

Y'all are on a first name basis? People are gonna start to taaaalk! Lol!

Damn! Flashback to when a good fora friend used the expression, Lighten up Francis, only to find that the guy's name was actually Francis. Subsequently, my buddy's posting services were no longer requested for quite some time.

Ah! I was also looking at the thread and wondered how you knew good4life's name..

"That's a little creepy."

Its actually a quote from Casablanca, but then again, looking at the thread, I think I understand what you mean ;-)

"But, they do reserve the right to charge a $5.00 "cutting fee", if you bring in your own."

I'm not sure what if anything they charge here. I just buy the first smoke from them. It works! I get first class seats in front of many flat screens. Go Yankees..beat the Sox! Ha!

" ... your must buy the first one you smoke from them." A lot of places have rules like that. My favorite haunt, The Victory Bar in Worcester, Ma doesn't. But, they do reserve the right to charge a $5.00 "cutting fee", if you bring in your own.

BT What have you got against friendships? To paraphrase what was said earlier in this forum, It ain't all about fuckin'.

New Orleans, LA, Us

Louis, I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship.

It's a deal. It's BYOB usually I bring Makers 46 and whatever brand of beer I'm feeling like at the time. You're welcome to it and/or BYOB. Cigar selection varies from time-to-time, AND your must buy the first one you smoke from them. You'll find a good one though or Bob's My Uncle. After that you smoke wherever you want. Until then enjoy good smoke and spirits.

Got it! Wrote it down; committed it to memory and swallowed the note, to keep it safe. I live in Ma, I don't get down your way often. But, the next time I'm heading Jersey way, I will drop you a bird and see if we can meet up and hoist a beverage and a stick. Thanks!

Be Well!

I cross my heart and hope to die, before I tell anyone the location of such a great place! I've got to find a bar with such a great humidor and cigar deals.

It's a great place but people keep it on the down low...they say there are a few people who play cards there too. Maybe that's how they make their money?
