Messages not working again

Westmoreland, NY, Us

Same here. Just had the ever present SLS Message Limbo big strike again. To say the isn’t an issue is just ignoring it. It happens and it happens ALOT. It’s especially frustrating when I forget to copy the message to clipboard before sending it and lose it.

Thanks Wayne.

Would it not make sense to add some sort of notice when attempting to send a message when it can't be sent like that? As it is l, the message just disappears and there is no notification as to why.

Just had it happen to us......sent this to support

After writing a rather lengthy message to this profile - LatinoPassionSeekers - the message disappeared when I clicked send.

It's 7:02AM on the east coast and I'm using chrome on my Android phone to access the site.

I was getting Error Messages this morning when trying to open a profile from a message. I sent in a support ticket as advised by Wayne and I also sent him two messages with a copy of the Error Message I was getting. Lets see what the outcome will be.

We're sorry, it appears the web page you are tying to access seems to be having problems.

Our support staff has been notified. We will correct the problem as soon as possible.

It’s called Gaslighting when you have proof something occurred but the other party keeps denying it.

@M&C, we had the problem on and off for a long while now, with an uptick in occurrence over the past couple days. One thing we have noticed (but will require more observation) is the color change of the message box border from blue to gray, at least when running website on Samsung phone. The border color when hitting "send" does seem to make a difference to the message going or not, but will require some experimenting. It really should not be this difficult to send a message but it is what it is so cut and paste is our only friend for now.

We've had the same thing happen. It's intermittent.

If the message is eventually sending, then I doubt it is any of the issues I mention. The only problem is that I have not been able to recreate that scenario, so there is nothing I can do about it.

If you are copying the message, the next time it happens, can you create a support ticket and paste to me in the ticket what you are sending and who you are trying to send it to? Use the "Techsupport" category so that it goes to me.

Does this happen at any specific time of the day more than at other times?

I’ll reply:

-Receive Message from a profile. Type a reply. Click to send. Our message is gone. Not there. Just the message the other couple sent.

-Type same reply all over again. Highlight text and click “copy”. Click to send. Our message is gone. Not there. Just the message the other couple sent .

-Paste copied text into reply box. Click to send. Our message is gone. Not there. Just the message the other couple sent.

-Repeat above two more times with same result. Third time, our reply message populates onto the Message window.

1) We are not hidden from Free members.

2) If the other profile is pending deletion, why would they send an introductory message?

3) How in the world would we know if the profile we are replying to has been flagged? Wouldn’t it be better to prevent a flagged profile from sending messages so as to prevent frustration on disappearing messages?

4) Not likely this is the problem since a cut & paste of the same wording worked on the fifth attempt. An error message that tells the sender that the message cannot be sent because they’ve used a flagged word would explain this, and allow the sender to correct the problem. This is what user friendly web sites do.

Hey Wayne it was M and C posted about the message issue not me although I also have had similar problems in the past. None recently with messages being sent.

The disappearing message isn’t fake news. If we write a message that contains more than one or two sentences we copy it before we hit send. I don’t know if it’s half the time that it disappears, but it’s a pretty good amount. Certainly more than 1% of the time. When it disappears, we reload the page and paste the saved message. Usually works on the second try.

Fix what? I can't find anything that is broken. When I use the message system, it works 99% of the time. I MUST be able to recreate a problem before I can report a problem.

You are saying that when you send a message to someone and click the "Send" button, the message just disappears? How often does that happen? Does it happen with the same profile over and over again? Does it happen with the same message over and over again?

1) If you have your profile hidden from free members, you will not be able to send a message to a free member. The message will just disappear when you click "Send".

2) If the other profile is pending deletion, your message will just disappear when you click "Send".

3) If the other profile has been flagged by the site, your message will just disappear when you click "Send".

4) If you try to use a word in your message that scammers have been using, your message will just disappear when you click "Send" because we have blocked those words from being sent to try to discourage the scammers.

For number 4, I cannot give out all the words, but a word like "signup" will not send. Try it out. Type a message with the word "signup" in it and the whole message should disappear when you send it.

But according to the powers that be it must be a problem on your end. A number of people including myself have brought issues up and the same old same old story is given. It is BS. FIX THE WEB SITE!

Oh for God's sake, can you please fix the Message issue..........We shouldn't have to copy and paste a message 5 times to send a reply to a message we received. You've left this as the only means of communication with others, so get it right.

So frustrating.......
