Agreed...bring back the bird! Why fix what ain't broken???? They have new and improved it till it no longer works as well.

Absolutely hate that Messaging is now the default. Unless I keep each msg, there's no history to be found so it takes a minute to remember if you've already talked to someone. I also don't feel its necessary to reply to IM's, whereas I used to in email which was easier b/c of the auto replies.

The messaging system is horrible! Bring back the email system ASAP

The only email you will get from now on is from groups invitations.

Call me crazy, but I’m pretty sure I saw the bird a couple days ago... it flapped at me once then was gone.. maybe I was seeing things, I don’t know.

The new messaging doesnt work. ....heard from others trying to contact me that I never have received anything from them. ....please fix this. ...improve the site and make it the best

The IM system implemented here sucks. I mean, technically... I am a software tester for over 20 years, it is ancient and just atrocious, and that has nothing to do with whether I would rather have email or not.

Further, since my account was shut down the first time I stated my opinion about all of this, over three months ago, I have asked pointedly three times why it was shut down. It was quietly re-instated (which I dont give a shit about, see below...) but no one has ever answered the simple question... Why was my account blacklisted?

Before email was shut down, we would get a dozen or so messages a week. I think, since the shift, we have gotten, maybe a dozen or so messages, PERIOD... and mostly from single guys. They destroyed this site overnight, without a care in the world.

If you want to see IM and Email blended well, technically, there is another site, not called Shiver, but close to that, more like what your body may do during sex than when you are cold, but they got the technical part down well. Sadly, they are new, and almost no one near me is on that site, so... back to magazines I guess??

Please copy, reference, repeat, remember what I am saying here, as I have no doubt my account will be banished again before I wake up tomorrow morning. Good luck here...

The email system was faster, easier to navigate, and allowed people to search directly the mail they wanted to keep for their needs. We are on other sites and now seem to use them over S L S. People at events are talking about it and upset. Not sure why they feel the need to remove the email, the reason given is lame and other sites are still using it, so that does not hold water.
We for one feel they are driving down the site.

Completely agree with the comments above. We seem to have, essentially, moved away from an email system by folding it into the IM system. They are completely different things, IMO, and losing mail history is a real downgrade, making this site less attractive.

<p>Other than due to FOSTA, SLS has never deleted messages. I do not know of any plans to do so.</p>

<p>It has been suggested to the developers to swicth the Mail History Icon over so that it shows mail history from the new Messenger.</p>

It’s no secret we hate the message system. It’s hard to tell what I hate most but not having communication linked to the sender’s profile, in their profile ( like the magic yellow envelope that email had showing we had an email history) is in the top ten.

Because of this we haven’t been deleting messages, even the oh-so-common one liners that messenger encourages (more so than email ever did), thus our inbox is getting cluttered/full.

I’m curious, will messages we receive eventually be timed out and automatically deleted? If so we would like to know so we can start blocking people that send us crap.

Is there any plan at all to link messaging to profiles to show a history?

I agree, epic fail. Outrageous that they took away something as basic as email. bring back the bird.

The new messaging system sucks. When you're scrolling through profiles you used to be able to see who you've messaged before, now you can't! This just plain sucks. You should have the option to IM or email.

They are truly throwing us the bird.

I'm not sure there is anything wrong with the Message System.... it is the fact that the "Email" portion of the site seems to be getting fazed out.... bummer. It looks like as a group owner I can still send a group email.... but the members must respond personally via the Messanger….

If admin is listening..... many would like access to the email side of communications... it is easier to write in a larger block and feels more formal.

Dumb me... we telling people to stop messaging me and send an email.... only to find out they can't.

We were at a hotel party with four other long-time SLS couples last weekend.

Nobody complained about the new message system.

We're definitely bummed about the new change to the messaging system. We lost all of our archived messages, so not sure where things were left with various people, and now it's like an IM-only system. We're a couple. We're never on the site at the same time. In the old system you saw you had a message, you could read it without actually "opening" it, then the other half of the couple could do the same. When we're ready to respond we could open it and reply. Now it's just a series of short Twitter-like messages broken up. If one of us looks, the other won't know there's a new message.

We get SLS overall is going for the whole 1998 technology vibe. And this probably feels like a giant leap to 2009 as far as tech, but functionally it's a big step backward. SLS will never be a tech leader. It's not why we're here. We're here because we found the most genuine people compared to other sites. Just hoping all of those lifetime membership fees can go to making the site work, not perceived-slicker tech.

The message system used to be so much better. Now, old archived conversations are gone and we are left trying to type in a smaller box. Don't leave the page and come back or you will have to start over. One small step for SLS.. One giant leap backwards. A perfect example of trying to do too much and not doing anything right. Listen to your customers... they are the ones that pay your salary.

Bring back the bird! So much harder to communicate with anyone on SLS now, a lot of couples do not like the IM feature, and often don't reply back to IMs...

We REALLY REALLY dislike the new method of communication with other members. That being said, it is...what it is!

WE can make it work. We're not ready to throw away our lifetime membership yet.

Our worry is that they are preparing to be mobile app only. If that happens we will be forced to leave. We will NEVER...NEVER have a swinger app on a mobile device.

Hate the new setup. No information to see if there person you sent the mail to has actually read it. I complained and was told that feature was not very useful. I disagree.

I've deleted about 4-5 "messages" because I thought they were chat messages (which we don't do chat)....now there goes any chances we had ?? Sorry to whom ever it was!
