Happy 2020 everyone!
New year's musings from a single lifestyler:
Looking back over the past 6 months since its surprise implementation I have only met one new lifestyle friend with the new message system, whereas before I was meeting about one a month on average.
I've tried to use the phone app but it's impossible to reconcile that application between the web version and the phone version. I don't understand the logic in the macros for who pops-up on my searches. I can't figure out the filters used for the geographic searches. I personally know some people who are within the apps search range, but their profiles don't appear, while others do appear that I have never seen on the web-based app. I rarely use it and am considering removing it from my phone
The hot dates are now useless to me because I'm blocked from seeing the dates if I'm not exactly in the demographic they're looking for. I understand this, but in the past there have been times where I have not met every exact requirement of play partners and we still were able to get together and have fun. No one is perfect. The distance feature continually defaults to 50 miles, which in itself is annoying.
The new weird option to send requests to open pictures from someone whom I've never chatted with is a shock. I tried it once or twice. Not a fan.
I joined SLS in 2012 as a free member. I started to use it a lot in 2015. I became a paid member in 2016, and a lifetime member in 2018. I realized from day one that this was a kludgy system, hacked together from various software packages, but I had thought (hoped?) it would get better over time. Sadly every single change implemented has been for the worse.
I know that the Bird is extinct on SLS, never to return, so my observations here are in vain but I just have to say that if there ever is case study performed on how a business can go about to intentionally wreck a social network platform then SLS should be a prime candidate to study.
