"You need to use the right tool for the job"

It's A tool for the job, not necessarily the RIGHT one. Members have come up with better ways that work for them.

Blah blah blah ways to skin a cat....

So now we have circled back to where we started.

Basically, "yes we know the members don't like it, but we will do it this way anyhow, just because we want to".

Wayne,

That's a start........at least it will explain why people who are so far away might be looking at your profile, and perhaps click through to see a Hot Date.

"I cannot come up with a good reason why no dates are allowed in taglines, so what is the purpose of that restriction?"
Nor can we........especially as it's allowed in the Hot Date section. It's just so odd that a web site designed to facilitate people meeting each other makes this so difficult sometimes.........

I cannot come up with a good reason why no dates are allowed in taglines, so what is the purpose of that restriction?

Gainesville, FL, Us

<p>I checked the exact policy on this with the business. You can say that you will be somewhere as long as you do not post dates. So you can say something like "In Las Vegas on business." or "On vacation in Las Vegas." </p>

"That is a very good reason not to put in your profile that you are a traveler. It would cause those type of people to reject you."

That's nice.

People voicing they're travelers should be free to do so.

People rejecting travelers should be free to do so.

You do not insulate peoples' choices.

“ happen. I am in Florida. If I change my Tagline to say Iwill be in Las Vegas, mostly people from my area will see that.”

Wayne, if you’re in Florida and planning to travel to Las Vegas, you might search for profiles in Las Vegas to see who might be interesting. But those Las Vegas based profiles who have WVM enabled would look back and see you’re in Florida and would dismiss you immediately as too far away. They likely won’t click through to see if you have a Hot Date posted.

But if your tag line says “Traveling to Las Vegas November 5-10”, they’d be way more inclined to see if you are interesting to them as they now know you’ll be in their area.

And the reason for still not implementing 2FA?

Thereby saving everyone time and effort. So win/win.

I have seen numerous profiles stating they are not interested in travelers, so that would not always work.

Changing location and changing tag lines makes the most sense to me.

If a location update does not require a profile review, I do not see why a tag line update would either. It should be separate from changes to the actual profile itself.

<p><span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:open sans,sans-serif; font-size:14px">I don't understand how that would happen. I am in Florida. If I change my Tagline to say I will be in Las Vegas, mostly people from my area will see that. The odds of them being in Las Vegas the same time I am would be slim. It would be unlikely that anyone in the Las Vegas area would be searching my area and see that I was coming to Las Vegas. If you actually temporarily change your location to Las Vegas, then people in that area will see your profile, so no need to tell them that you are traveling there. </span></p>

Either that was a really long concert or you walked there and back.

People in the Forum were fixing to start a search party. Put your picture on milk cartons...

Or condom packages.

One of the frequent complaints about the "Who Viewed Me" feature is that people seem miffed about couples who look at a profile from 1,000 miles away.

If you see a profile from a far distance, the tag line alerting to a travel or Hot Date would explain that away immediately.

As has been pointed out already we got way more responses to our travels when the tag line could include travel plans. Not everyone goes through the process of looking at every profile to see a Hot Date. Having the tagline on the flyover just makes it easier for people to now what your plans are.

I get that this cuts down on the number of profiles that require approval, but this is the only site of the few we use that requires approval to change a profile. Maybe there's a way to allow just the tag line section to be updated./changed without approval?

A "flyover" indicates Wayne hasn't been online for 5 days. Maybe he's on vacation?

I don't think anyone else from the site admin/management ever posts in the Forum- except to say that a thread was moved for some reason. That's not saying those managing the site don't read the Forum, I think they just have their PR guy (Wayne) be their mouthpiece in the Forum.

Still no response. Surprise Surprise

Any response will undoubtedly be "'cause we said so".

Can't wait to hear the illogical response to the question.

Wayne - curious as to why management has this stance? As a long time user, I'd initially assume there is a valid business reason for the position. As we can tell below, and sidebars with other members, it is a position the customer base isn't wild about. I can also say that when we could use the subject line or profile text in our travels, we saw more responses. The reason for that is almost everyone uses "whos on". It was visible there and perked interest. It clearly communicated in the most used part of SLS " in town and looking for fun". That is important as there are always a lot on line but who's looking now, does perk interest. Hot dates have to be looked for AND even though they appear on our profile, not seen if parties do not view our profile. So please understand, it is a reduction in user's value in the use of SLS. This said, what is the business case that has such a hard stance being taken? MOST can accept good reasons but not essentially an edict without explanation. I am just hoping it isn't something like "we invested in Hot Dates and want that to be the only way users can communicate. I can speculate that it may be the practice overburdened the profile review process ie a lot more profile text reviews needed that was overwhelming the available manpower. I get profiles have way more characters to review than a hot date so I'm thinking that maybe the issue. Can you give us a better understanding?
