Alternatives to SLS chat

We like telegram. It's amazingly easy to use and can keep your # hidden so only the people you want to know you have Telegram know. It's encrypted, plus plenty of options to customize your usage. Its not plagued with bots, ads, or spammers. You can create as many groups as you like and it friggin free. It's the only chat my wife and I use. And that's everyday usage, not just the naughty chats. I highly recommend it.

"First generation? That's nearly 10 years old. Maybe time for an upgrade."

Probably so, but I'm waiting for George Soros to send me one of those checks before I can buy a new one.

"We just text. I know not everyone is comfortable with that. It’s just easier and we are not more protective of our phone numbers than who we sleep with."

Yes, us as well. Also, as others have pointed to, we do use Google Voice, WhatsApp, Telegram, TextNow, etc.

I already tried that. But thanks.

All of that should be fine other than 1st generation is getting pretty old. You can try rotating the iPad from landscape to portrait or vice versa to see if that makes any difference.

We use free google voice. It’s a google app that you download and you can select a number of your choice from their available numbers that when dialed or texted will forward it to your actual number without anyone seeing your actual number. You can use it for calls or texting. We give that number to our play friends. We tell people about it so they can have the option and that we keep our dating number separate from our family number. And I bury that app on a back page.

We do same.. if we are going to bed with them its that easy.. or call!

If anyone gets crazy and demanding etc we block them that simple! Only blocked from cell 3 so far, one a no show for a hotel meet, one a crazy woman who was controlling and should not be swinging, and one a couple who lied about age and photos on a first meet!

"Do you have any apps installed such as Grammarly that may change the virtual keyboard display? I worked with one member where that was the cause of their display issue."

I don't have anything like that. It's just the out-of-the-box iOS install.

I don't expect anyone to fix it. I'll use the existing messaging system until I'm fairly sure I'm not going to get my kidney stolen, and then I'll switch to something that works better.

My iPad does not do that. Some other members have reported that, but has to be some issue on your end as I have used the site with multiple iPads and iPhones and it does not happen for me.

You can create a ticket and attach a screenshot or email me the screenshot to: pictures@swinglifestyle.com and I will take a look.

We do not allow any images to be shared that have not gone through the review process. That has nothing to do with technology or age. We do not want the members to do anything that would get them, another member or the site in legal trouble.

"It makes circa-1995 AIM look state-of-the-art."

This. And lately some messages don't come through if I don't log out and log back in, even if I've checked messages.

I’d send you a screenshot, but the outdated messaging system won’t let me attach an image unless I upload it to my gallery and wait for it to be approved. LOL.

Internet Relay Chat (IRC) was less clunky. The last message is always below the bottom of the window. To read it on my iPad, I have to scroll up and hold it in place with my finger while I read it.

Once we use the clunky system here to determine if the person is of quality we will accept invites or make offers to go to Facebook Messenger of Gmail chats. Far more robust chat systems. We were here when they had the original chat messaging system that was solid as a rock! Then changed to make it better, which never has worked out.

I don't mind switching to regular phone texting after I've established that someone isn't a serial killer or looking to blackmail me. Like to get a feel for whether a person is fairly rational before I give them my real contact info.

My phone came with an app installed already called messages, so that it what we use outside of the message system here.

Not sure if it has video but we have been using an app called burner: second phone number (made by ad hoc labs) on the play store. Works exactly as advertised. Been using it a couple years now, never any issues with phone or text.

One thing with hushed is if you want to have 1 number for 1 phone and another for a different phone you will need 2 accounts. If you’re ok with all devices being notified of traffic on any of the numbers then 1 account with multiple numbers. You can drop and change numbers anytime - has video but we’ve not used that I don’t know if it’s laggy.i don’t think it’s free but it’s fairly low

I'll look into that one.
