"...we also have some wonderful food (see TheWife’s almost daily what’s for dinner posting)..."

Thank you! I post mostly as a memory aid so I don't repeat things too often - and others seem to get some enjoyment ("and a salad" has become a bit of a joke among the regulars).

If you shop mostly the fresh meat and produce departments in your store your meals will be a lot more healthy than if you wander the aisles grabbing convenience foods with unpronounceable ingredients. Now that we're retired we have a garden (and I preserve the excess bounty) and I have time to search out locally raised meat. Still not eating quite as well as FlipFlops & DropTop but we're working on it!

“ In America, we have THE worst food in the world.

While it’s true that terrible food is available, we also have some wonderful food (see TheWife’s almost daily what’s for dinner posting).

If a person is even a little bit educated and has even a little bit of self control they can avoid the worst of the food offerings.

If a person is poor and living in a food desert, obviously it’s harder to eat healthy, but I’d rather eat the crap offered up in Patterson, NJ bodegas than have to scrounge for scraps in a favela in Rio.

In America, we have THE worst food in the world.

A lot of our foods are not even real.

We eat the most genetically modified foods, most sodas, candy, sugar, fast food, etc.
Cheeses that have no dairy products. Juice drinks with little to no juice. Breads that stay soft for months.

The most chemicals and preservatives and shit we can't pronounce. And meats that would not be sold in stores in Europe and many countries around the word.

We are dehydrated and overweight and malnourished due to the foods not containing enough vitamins and nutrients. Not enough fruits and vegetables. And we don't cook most of our own meals. And sleep deprived.

But yeah..... Blame it on gluten and peanuts.

"I think gluten and peanut allergies are a crock of shit."

Someone served a crock of shit on gluten free bread to people with allergies to gluten and peanuts thinking it was peanut butter on wheat bread...?

I hate that people have overused gluten intolerance and allergies so much that people don’t always take them seriously and dismiss very real issues.

I lady called me a bitch because I refused to give her kids something that they said they are allergic to. Don’t throw that shit around lightly!

We know a little boy that had to be helicoptered to the hospital after wiping a table that had peanut butter on it. He touched the sponge and then rubbed his eyes. That was enough exposure to stop his breathing.

A little girl died after her grandmother used coconut oil on her hair after dismissing mom’s allergy concerns. Truthfully, I would never have guessed topical usage would cause such a severe reaction.

My kids never had allergies as kids, so now it’s hard to remember not to include tree nuts into holiday dishes. Luckily, they are old enough to self-monitor and the allergies aren’t so severe that they have a reaction from just being around the offending foods.

Wow! Where'd that come from? We've known people that are like epipen allergic to nuts. It's odd how they have developed so quickly over the years, but both of these are very real for the people that have them.

Ironically, for some with allergies they can go as quickly as they came. I have a daughter that was deathly allergic to peas and her husband developed a nut allergy. Some years later, both allergies have gone away.

Hey 8 Inch...

Do you want to tell that to the fourteen inches of intestine that was surgically removed from me at the beginning of this year? Do you want to tell me that I did not survive Colon Disease? I can tell you right off the bat that I did not have Colon Cancer; I had Colon Disease that 'did not' turn into cancer.

I can give you a detailed timeline of my experience, a whole distertation of what unknown-at-the-time gluten allergy had done to me and follow it all up with medical records & images, if you still need convincing otherwise. At a minimum though, do your own research and then try to rebuke what I've stated.

The ball is in your court...

Do you mind clarifying that?

Excluding the fact that I am found to be gluten intolerant and can't have anything other than the oatmeal at McDonald's, I truly miss the one thing that McDonald's had years ago and I wished that they would bring back. I truly miss the cheese danish from McDonald's! You could get it as is or steamed. I loved it when it was steamed hot! It was so damn good!

With the current prices of a McDonalds' meal, ain't no such think as a Happy Meal anyway. Grumpy Meal make more sense.

Just sayin'

The bipolar Ronald McDonald booklet and toys will further explain it to kids.

Relax. The smile is back.

"From 13 to 19 May, McDonald’s UK division changed the design of their Happy Meals to exclude the iconic smile in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Week."

Yay for Mickey D's being politically correct!

Lol!

McDonald’s removes smile from Happy Meals at United Kingdom locations.

The move aims to communicate that it's ok not to be happy all the time.

Seriously!?

I received a voice message this AM from my dentist's office. Apparently they haven't been able to get a hold of my mother to confirm her dental appointment for this afternoon.

WTF? My mom's been dead for over 30 years.

It turns out the appointment is for my aunt who's in a nursing home. The dentist's office assumed she was my mother and when she didn't respond to their reminder call to her. I called my cousin who knew about the appointment. Probably a good thing I called the dentist before I rented a backhoe to get my mom there in time for the appointment.
