My wife also had that for a couple of years and even spoke with her Doc about it more than once. She never was 100% certain but it happened over the time period she was heavily in menopause and subsided when she got on hormone therapy that settled down that and other things for her. It's rare now but does still happen occasionally. She has also stated that holding her breath seems a contributing factor.
