I've seen cases (on another site) where someone was claiming to set up a new LS club and were looking for new members. If this is the case, it will become apparent soon. If that's what it is, they are simply looking to monetize the interaction with you. These people wanted money before you could even check out their supposed club.
So long as you're not handing someone a CC #, it doesn't hurt to chat online on the off-chance they are legit. Might be worth looking closer at their certs to see if they sound legit, and you can follow up by checking out the profiles of people that gave them certs.
One red flag is they may ask you to communicate outside of the SLS Messaging system. While that is not an unusual request, their motivation could be that you have no proof of any shady dealings.
