Just got home from Splash.
And we were like, oh, shit, we don't have a Tuesday talk. So here we are. So if you hear sniffles or coughing, that's what it is. We're surviving, though. Yeah. We're going to make it. Okay. So today's question isn't really from a particular person. Yeah.
But if I was to log on to Twitter or instagram or tiktok or even our email i could probably find a dozen of the how do i get in the lifestyle yeah or i'm from chicago and i want to be a swinger and how do i become a swinger in chicago or what are the clubs in california so people seem to be very confused on if they're interested in non-monogamy and the swingers lifestyle. They're not sure what to do about that. Yeah, I see it all the time. It's almost like a secret society that they think we have. Like you have to jump through these hoops and then you're crowned in the lifestyle or something.
I don't know. Or like how to get invited to parties. I think they think that it is super secretive and that you have to know someone to know someone. And I'm sure in some cases that is true. But the majority of the parties that we attend or that we're associated with are 100% everyone's welcome.
You just purchase a ticket right yeah so okay let's talk about that so if you are somebody that listens to our podcast and you're thinking about joining the lifestyle you don't need anybody's permission to do that no you don't need to be like sworn in or vetted or you don't have to like know a secret handshake or something like that you just have a conversation with your partner and then you go do it yeah correct Thank you. or you don't have to like know a secret handshake or something like that. Okay, so some ways to do it. And I think maybe this is where people are getting complicated. Yeah, because there's a lot of different ways to like be in the lifestyle because like not all swinging looks the same. The way we swing and the way someone else swing might be completely different. Right. So I think that the easiest way in here, I'll make it so we'll give you like links and everything on like step by step how to do this.
OK, so what if you have had a conversation with your partner, with your wife, or even if maybe you're single, maybe you're interested in being a unicorn or being a single male, a bull or something like that. basically what the struggle that you're going to have to, that I think people are going through is you have to find other like-minded people, right? So you don't need to get vetted in. You don't have to pass some kind of test. There's no secret handshake, but you do have to find ways of connecting with people in your area that are like-minded.
And I think if you're just starting out out one of the easiest ways to do that is to get on these bigger lifestyle dating apps for lack of a better word agree and so some of you have to pay for them right so some of the big ones stc cassidy sls and probably three fun probably probably the biggest ones i can think of and there's others if you're out west or in different parts of the country or country or in Europe or something like that, there's other ones out there. You're gonna see cassidy you're going to see sdc and you're going to see uh see three fun yeah sign up for all three of those yeah uh three fun if you're not in a major metropolitan area you're probably not gonna have much luck uh and then sls is another one that we highly recommend that we actually don't have an affiliate link on our website we actually met on that one so it's worth mentioning but go check out um swing lifestyle.com that's another one that you should get signed up for um and if you go to the swing nation.info we actually have free trial links so you can sign up you can try the free trial link and it's completely free so after you get done with the free trial though you probably don't need to have all of them you can kind of determine which one is best for your right so those free trials are gonna be like 30 days 60 days 90 days something like that so after that free trial is up you can kind of make a decision on which one you want to be on or which one or two you want to be on um but what that's going to do for you think of these websites kind of like a tinder or plenty of fish or any other like vanilla dating site that's basically what these are, but they're ways for non-monogamous people to meet other non-monogamous people um they have all the same problems that like tinder and all those other you know you're going to have a fake profiles um there are going to be people on there that judge you for how you look you know i mean there's some superficial stuff that just happens on these websites and it's the same superficial stuff that happens on every other online dating platform so if you get on these websites and after 30 days 60 days 90 days uh you know i kind of hear like oh we've been on these for a while and we don't have much luck and i feel like i'm wasting my money paying for these um and maybe that's true for you so what my next step would be what i would recommend to you if you don't meet any couples that you're able to go on dates with and have make a connection with is go to an event right so get involved in the community every every larger city not even have to be huge cities but major you know bigger cities if you have a population of you know a hundred thousand people ish or more there's probably some kind of lifestyle community in that area right so if you're way out in the country you might have to travel to whatever your you know your closest bigger metropolitan area is but they probably have different groups that are doing either meet and greets or hotel takeovers or some kind of social events in that area and so if you get the websites, what you can do is then go to events on the websites and you can find what groups are in your area.
You can find calendars or for what events are going on. Go to one of these events, right? Yeah. Cause honestly, you know, online dating is hard. Yeah, it is. It's hard when you have one person. Imagine now you have four people trying to connect.
It can be quite difficult and there could be a lot of like swing and misses just even just trying to communicate so definitely especially if you are in your you know you're interested in it but you're not sure if this is a good fit going out and actually like being in the clubs or being at the meet and greets hotel takeovers even if you're not're not doing anything, but just kind of watching and taking it all in, that is a good way to determine if this is the right fit for you. Right.
And what I was going to say is when you actually go and you meet people in person, that's when you're actually able to form connections that it's hard to do over these online platforms. Right.
Um, cause when you meet people and you get to know them, it just makes everything more comfortable and like you're saying if you're you know even if you're not full swapping on your first event or something like that you're gonna you're gonna see things you're gonna you're gonna immerse yourself in the community and that will really help you determine if this is a community if this is a lifestyle um that you're actually looking for that's going to work that's going to work well for you yeah and really that's that's my recipe yeah i mean like welcome to the lifestyle you're there because i don't really think you have to be like fully swapping with someone to technically be a swinger i mean i don't there is no like rule book on how to do this so you know that's what welcome congratulations you've made it.
I that's pretty much it but people online just kind of seem to make it a little bit harder than it has to be yeah i think i think there's this mentality that you have to be like vetted into the community and there are some groups and i think it's worth mentioning there are some groups out there that do vet people they're usually pretty upfront about it and if that's not something that you're interested in you don't have to be a part of that you just you just don't go to those parties or be a part of those platforms right and i would also say like if you end up going to a party in your local city and you meet people in that area they actually might know about like house parties and stuff that are more local to you for sure they probably know about facebook pages and like smaller more local things to you than like a major website like sdc sls that's kind of where you start but then once you you're in it and you meet people and you talk to people then that's really where you find out by about a lot of the other things yeah that's what I was going to say so once you kind of get to know some people that are involved in the local community so to speak that are regulars that attend a lot of these events and they know you know they're gonna be like oh yeah you're from where oh well that's where Bob and Susie live and they throw house parties about once a month yeah you know oh actually they're here this week let me go introduce you to them and that's really how then you kind of get your roots down and kind of spread and get to know people and um that's really how you how it happens that's how it works yeah okay so like on the flip side of that what if someone doesn't want to swing like locally like maybe they're a teacher or the husband's a cop or i don't know you you name any job that you can think of and they want to, they, they don't want to swing anywhere near their house.
What would their, your suggestions be for that? Right. So that's when you need to travel. So whether it's, you know, let's go, you know, for us, like go to like somewhere like Atlanta and club trapeze, you know, cause that's like three hours from us. So it's kind of out of the local scene, but we're still close enough to where we could do it on a weekend or something like that. There's other options.
Like maybe you just want to go once a year on a bliss cruise or once a year to somewhere like Hedo and just kind of live it up for a week and have your experience and kind of, you know, enjoy that and then come back to normal life.
And I think, you know, we've talked about this on the podcast before, if you have little kids or maybe you're running your own business and just time is hard for you, you know, like one a month is probably you know maybe too much of an ask um maybe doing something bigger like that once a week uh you know one time a year or twice a year or something like that is more appealing to you and that's the thing about this community and this lifestyle is you really have to figure out what works best for you and me and you know me and lacy can't tell you like oh this is the perfect recipe recipe to be a successful in this lifestyle because what's going to be successful for you might be different.
Maybe you just want to have singles over once in a while, you know, when when the kids are with mom or with the grandparents. You know, maybe your kids go to the grandparents house and you invite a unicorn or a bowl or, you know, whatever over to your house. I mean, however it works for you, you just really have to kind of figure it out.
Talk to your kind of what are you interested in what are your fantasies what are your desires and then kind of figure out ways to make those connections and then kind of figure out a schedule that works to make those experiences happen yeah um and that's really the best thing that I can I can recommend in this scenario I think it's actually really easy I think people make it a little bit more complicated I mean it's complicated to meet people and it's complicated sometimes to find the places and stuff but i think people make it harder than it has to be it's really simple get on the websites find the parties go you're a swinger congratulations yeah i don't know i don't i guess i just don't under there's this idea that there's some kind of gatekeeping yeah some kind of you got another with or some kind of secret symbols and secret handshakes or, you know, but it's really not.
These websites are completely public. Like we said, if you go to theswingnation.info, we have links to most of them and free trial links to most of them. Go make a profile and start talking, you know, chatting online to people that are in your area.
Even, you know, once you get online and you start talking to people even if it's people that you're not gonna end up you know that you're not attracted to or you don't want to um you know swing with or play with you can still talk to them about like oh do you know of any parties you can still be friends with people even if you don't want to sleep with them and i think people forget that even i think we're we're bad at that sometimes, or maybe not us, but there's people around us like, oh, well, they just don't want to fuck us.
I was like, well, just because I don't want to fuck you doesn't mean I don't want to talk to you or I don't want to hang out with you or don't want to be your friends. One of the things I love about this community is getting together with like-minded people. Even if we don't want to have sex with you, just being in a fun environment with people that are open-minded and like-minded can be fun in itself.
So, you know, we talk about all this time that being a swinger and being non-monogamous isn't all about the sex like the sex is great but hanging out with people that are like-minded and going to these events that you know where everybody can be naked and everybody can be having sex in open areas and you know people are not judging you if you if you're a dude and want to wear shorty shorts or a thong or you know like just be yourself and and having people around you celebrate that even if they're not people that you personally want to have sex with that's part of being part of this community and I think that's something to be celebrated too and um yeah I think going to these events and being around those people um will really give you a good idea of if this is the space that you want to be in.
Yeah, I totally agree. And so I think that's that's really the key. That's the recipe. We did it in 13 minutes. We broke that down and explained it to you. Yeah.
