We are are your hosts northern guy and southern girl in today's episode we are talking about eye candy moonshine mountain pigeon forge hotel takeover we are their halloween bash i've been looking forward to this for like two years two years well last year we didn't go because it was the same weekend as the Bliss Cruise. So there was just no way. This weekend they changed it to more of like a Halloween time because I think that affected a lot of people being able to go last year. So, but yeah, it was a great party and we were not working. So I was very excited about this. Yeah, we we talk about this a lot my favorite parties um lifestyle parties are not the ones that we throw which and not because our great parties because they honestly are some of the you know better parties that we attend but we are working at them so yeah we often don't get to enjoy fully enjoy or partake in the actual festivities um so eye candy if you don't know throws amazing parties they also do takeovers at secrets highly recommend if you can't make it to a swinger society party yeah eye candy is a pretty safe another safe bet on a good good party to go to yeah um but they throw great parties and the majority of our friends were planning to go to this so there's a big group group from Swinger Society that was going to this eye candy party. And honestly, everybody and their brother tried to get us to work. Like they wanted us to buy out a floor. We didn't do that. They wanted us to set up a merch tent. We did not do that. Like on every occasion, like we had lots of opportunities to work. But we really just wanted to enjoy this and not work super grateful for those opportunities love them love what they're doing but we just really wanted to just have fun a hundred percent yeah we definitely did you know oh you guys can set up a merch tent or oh you guys can do this or oh you guys can do that and we're like no we're good we're good we don't we're okay we're just going to be normal people we just want to have fun yeah now that means that we did send up a table with a backdrop with some advertising for our group but uh but like literally we just had to go by there and like make sure it wasn't trashed right you know kind of pick it up we didn't throw any we didn't host any pool parties we didn't host the room crawl we didn't have a room we didn't do a meet and greet we did absolutely nothing except for set up a static display yeah and it was amazing it was all right so let's get into the details here so you know that life has been like kind of crazy for us lately my parents are at the house we have a teenager actually dan's mom's had some sort like it's just life has been chaotic to say the least um and so because of that you know we're at each other a little bit more i mean rightfully so not anything major just life is you know getting in the way and so the day before we left we got in a little argument yeah no that's safe to say and actually when i read the notes it says got in a fight before we left and i was like we're gonna talk about that you're like yeah we're gonna talk about that well i think it's important to talk about because we are not the only fucking people out there that gets in fights like and like some people pretend like they don't and act like their lives are perfect but that's bullshit i mean we're human beings like we are definitely in the like for better for worse area of our marriage right now i mean things are really rough at home i mean we are running ragged it's just it's a hard season of life and i think that's important to acknowledge um one of our rules very early on in swinging was if we're not okay we don't go unfortunately with hosting events and stuff we've that's become a little gray we've had to like not that we weren't okay like we weren't going to get divorced but like we might not be a hundred percent like there might still be like some frustration and stuff there when we've had to go to events um and even on wednesday night before we left or because we weren't leaving until thursday you know i was like we should not go i thought like maybe we shouldn't go because the fight was not even about anything to do with swinging it was about something stupid that then blew up to nothing and then we were fighting about everything under the sun you know as it always is for sure so there was some talk about not even going we we discussed that yeah yeah um we woke up thursday we were supposed to leave bright and early on thursday morning you wanted to be there like noon well we had to drop my dad off at 6 30 somewhere and so i was like well instead of like me getting up getting dressed driving him 30 minutes away and then driving 30 minutes back and we load the car and go i was like let's just load and we'll be there by lunch our friends getting in until later. So we were like, we could have lunch together. We could do just like a few. Pigeon forgy stuff. Yeah, like a few like touristy things, just you and I. Because ideally before all this happened, what? I was just thinking about all that, yeah. Before all this happened, our anniversary was a few days before that. And I was like, in my mind, I was like, why don't we go down and rent a cabin and stay like a couple of days just you and i we don't get a lot of time to do that but then of course like all hell's broke loose and so that's just kind of difficult to to go away so we didn't do that yes we barely made it we were just leaving 6 30 i don't think we left until like one o'clock i think we discussed turning the car around a few times on the way there it was it was kind of rough yeah to be fair so you know if maybe you're just late at 6.30. I don't think we left until, like, 1 o'clock. I think we discussed turning the car around a few times on the way there. It was kind of rough. Yeah, to be fair. So, you know, if maybe you're just hearing this episode and you haven't listened to us. So, Lacey's mom has lung cancer, stage 4. And her dad is in kidney failure, in pretty late stage kidney failure where he's having to get dialysis on a very regular basis several times a week. And so, our is very much turned into you know us being parents and then the weeks we don't have um kids in the house we we go and do our swinger stuff to now we're basically full-time caretakers and it takes up the majority of your days yeah um and then often they have dual appointments where we have to we're both are taking appointments so or like meeting halfway and swapping cars or doing things it's and so we we run two or three different businesses we have properties that we manage and run we have um the podcast we have our events um so we have a lot you know the only fan stuff um the tiktoks and so we have a lot going on so we we worked you know i probably work 40 50 60 hours a week on a normal week and then you add in you know four or five hours a day at least that each of us is kind of providing this caretaker role it just has become a lot yeah um and it's it's made frustrations sometimes between us where we don't necessarily disagree on things or do disagree on things and you know i'm like hey we have we cannot not work we have to get this stuff done and you're like well yeah but we have to take care of my parents and I totally understand that and respect that but it's just it's just hard it's just a lot it's a lot and so we get I think frustrated with each other and short-tempered and so you know something as silly as I don't even know what uh can snowball into a thing and that's kind of what has happened it will happen in this situation uh and i i knew that i think we both knew that um but i also we were looking forward to pigeon forge for the reasons you said is you know we've hired a nurse or a nurse to come in and take care of your parents it was some time for us to be away we weren't even you know most time when we do get away we're working so it's still kind of high stress and so i we both are i think we're looking at this as an opportunity to have some quality us time um away from the caretaking and away from our businesses and just and just enjoy ourselves and so it really is unfortunate that this we kind of got in a fight right before it because both of us were so much looking forward to this event, I think.
